I my self am surprised. You think after the amount of bugs present in their last two rpg releases they would step it up a notch. Oh well I guess you can't have excellent game play and a stable game. It's just sad really to think its not an issue with a small minority but about 75% of the community.

http://forums.gametrailers.com/thread/the-buggiest-game-of-all-time-/1047103
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.242655-Top-5-Buggiest-Releases?page=2

LOL, 75% of the community eh?

Well think of it this way, according to this very forum the largest amount of active unique users (2,935) was on 10/19 which is the day of the game's release. The entire forum has 182,333 registered users and considering that Fallout:NV is only a part of this forum (which also hosts other FO games, TES, Id software games, etc.), many of these users are inactive, then it is pretty safe to say that there are around 3,000 people on this board for PC/360/PS3 that may have had issues with the game. Considering the game sold nearly 3 millions copies (with around 300k on PC estimated) then "the community" you speak of is .1% of all the people who bought the game. Meaning 99.9%+ of owners aren't complaining. Not to say they aren't experiencing problems, they just aren't complaining most likely. So you're more than likely to get struck by lightning, fall out of bed and die, or die in a plane crash then buy FO:NV and then complain about its bugs online. Which means Bethesda doesn't really care

I think its bad that here it is almost 2 months after release and i (as well as others i see posting) havent even been able to play the game yet because of all the bugs. i saw a post were they was supposed to have a pc patch this week or last and of course it never happened. its sad that i was waiting forever for this game to come out and because of all thats wrong with it i dont even really care anymore its been a waste of money, gas and time to pick it up and time to install it.

After you reach level 20 then most of the bugs seem to disappear, I had very few glitches once past level 20. The biggest disapointment again as with FO3, is that you are unable to continue the game after completing the main quest (until they decide to release a DLC which will allow this). Looks as if the next release if any I will wait until the bugs are fixed & all the DLC's are released, having read about the DLC that is to be released (for Xbox only!!!!!!!!!!!), you will still be unable to carry on with the game.

Single loading weapons have a bug where after you fire them, then reload them, certain things kind of "freeze up" I believe this is already a known bug.

This only happens when you have a Cowboy Repeater in your inventory, As before you obtain the Cowboy Repeater & after I got rid of it, I get no key freezing using any other single shot rifle, Bethesda has known about this bug since the game was released & still haven't fixed it. If I were able to obtain a scope for the Varmint Rifle earlier in the game I wouldn't even bother with the CR at all, as it's very inacurate at any thing over 75 yards.

Why can't I reassign the "change ammo" key from 2, this makes it very difficult to change ammo whilst on the move, why couldn't Bethesda have made the key 4 as this would have made changing ammo so much easier.

You can reassign the change ammo key, just not to another Hotkey, key.

So, pretty much anything except 1-8 should work. The option should be in the Controls section of the Settings dialog.

Understand that not everyone at Obsidian is a programmer. So during the down time post production, what do you think all the graphic artists and level designers are doing?

Bethesda isnt the one working on the bugs. The Bethesda everyone speeks of is Bethesda Softworks, which is a publishing branch of Zenimax. The Bethesda resposible for Fallout 3 and the Elder Scrolls series is Bethesda Game Studios.

Please use correct and proper names.

so this game came out all unfinished full of bugs and seems nobody care about it

i am sure my computer can run the game, but i can't play it for more than 10 minutes because it freezes or crashes to desktop
i can't enter two different buildings without game crashing after interacting with door

new vegas seems great game if you look at story questes and all things you can do in game( i wouldn't know because i wasn't able to play it i read that on internet) so i would really like to play this game
but because it's [censored] full of bugs

i tried to do all fixes i could find on internet and all possible combination of them
and i spent about 5 hours trying to get this to work and all i got is one hour of crappy buggy gameplay where i couldn't play more than 10 minutes without crash
i though maybe there will be less crashes with more gamplay but as more as i play it sometimes crashas 10 seconds after loading my save

and this game is not buggy only on pc i heard it even crashes on consoles so pc configuration doesn't matter so much it's crappy work from bethasda and obsidian
there were patches but none of it helped

i am not only one with this problem there are atleast 5 theards every day on this forum but nobody cares

I agree. I bought NV only to discover that it is completely unplayable because of the terrible frame rates I'm getting near npc's. And can't get my money back from Steam.

A few posts went away - any hints of advocating piracy, and any reposting of previous posts in other threads make me look at this thread a bit more closely. I realize some of you are frustrated, but providing useful, clear feedback on issues you have encountered is useful and welcome. Pointless rude rant-y remarks and random misinformation? Not so much. Please be more careful.

It is not even frustration anymore Leydenne, we feel ripped off. We won't be willing to buy the next game released because we will all remember how badly the company dropped the ball on this and how the lack of pvssyr from them made us loose faith that they are going to fix it. We are not asking for detailed explanations, we are asking for simply someone to come out once a week or so and say "We are fixing the problems and hope to have it fixed by....." at the very least have them say "we are still working on the problems" once a week or so so we don't feel like we are being ignored.

Now as for clear feedback. FPS is still buggy at best and the controls using either mouse and keyboard or xbox controller are stiff to the point that manually aiming is impossible. Now I run a High end machine (Windows 7 64bit, i7 quad core Q820, Geforce 260M video card and 8GB 1333MHZ ram).
Now last night a friend of mine showed me the game working on his computer flawlessly. His was a Windows 7 64bit, Core 2 Dual, Dual Geforce 8800 gt video card, and 4GB of standard ram)

His computer is over 3 years old and mine less then 6 months and in every respect my computer is more powerful. This would seem to indicate that your game is not fully compatible with modern machines. This problem is only made worse by Steam being the governing engine which prohibits many of the methods gamers would use to fix these issues manually.

Please pass this along to your developers and tell them to please throw us a bone every so often so we know that we are not all being ignored.

Thank you

The update is still in the final stages for all three platforms.

Sorry, I don't have an exact date on when it will be available -- but when we know, we'll share news and let you know what it covers.

Thanks for your patience.

Until they have definite information, they aren't going to announce a date. If, Divines forbid, they announce a date and end up missing it for some reason, I can imagine the outrage. I was here when there was a non-specific release date like "Holidays 2005" and the game ended up pushed back to March. Threads about betrayal, lies, liars, and lots of other less than polite terms were all over the place. They didn't even have a definite date and people were ranting. I think missing a definite release date for the patch would be worse. Even with updates like Gstaff posted on Nov. 30 people are still claiming to be ignored. When Gstaff posted one "We're working on it, we haven't forgotten about it" someone reported his post for spamming. No matter what they do, people aren't going to be satisfied.

I think one of the main points people are trying to get across is that when you sell 1.4 million copies of a game your first week you should have a workable game that free of MAJOR bugs. There are other game companies that have released games with better graphics on newer graphics engines with minimal graphical bugs. When you have been using the same engine for what, 10 year now?, people expect it to be free of most bugs, not include ones from previous games that you have released. It seems like gamesas isnt doing any beta testing at all, or if they are its on a such limited release that they cant actually get any major bugs out of the way. I was very reluctant to buy this game because I felt you guys really screwed up fallout 3, but one of my friends bought it and told me there was only one major issue and it could be fixed by a third party mod, and the games feeling was much more 'fallout'. I bought the game and enjoyed playing it for a while, and then a few patches came out that caused the game to be unplayable. I got to play around 20 hours or so of the game (being a totally casual player) when i couldent play it anymore because a patch caused another major glitch while fixing something a third party programmer had fixed without causing a bug. The game is now a month and a half old, and still no good solid un-modded playable version for quite a few players.
I have seen a few people say that most players arn't complaining so that means that 99.99% of people have a working game. I personally know 5 people with the game, number of people with a working copy 0, number of people complaining, posting, and trying to get the company to do something about getting the game up and running = 1 (myself). I think the events of this release, which i originally wasn't going to buy, are going to lead me into urging people to boycott gamesas until they fix the way they make, produce and release games. Its the only way to make a company like this improve. Do not purchase DLC, do not purchase their new games. When the games get released get on the forums and let them know you wont be purchasing another buggy game, Fix it then release it.

I for one will not be buying another gamesas game until I see free open betas for the games. I will be urging all of my friends and everyone i know online to do the same.

One unhappy customer,
Owner of TES III, IV, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas (thats somewhere near $250 dollars), and most of my friends have the same games.

Now this is just being stupid. They gave an update status on one of the personal threads instead of the....I don't know.....sticked update thread!? Are they even wondering why people don't know what is going on? That had no business being in a thread that will be pushed off the main page by other threads. It should have been placed here http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1123616-game-updates/ in there game updates thread.

Sry but the fact they can't even place their game updates in their own thread is not exactly a confidence filler here. They could cut the complaints down quite a bit if they moved that into the proper thread.

Talaran is right. We're getting to the finish line, but it's very hard to speculate on an exact date. A few weeks back I could have speculated on the date, and I would have been wrong. We typically only give updates when we have substantive info to share.

As mentioned previously, we should have an update soon on all three platforms (PC, 360, and PS3). Will they all come out at the same time? That's our hope. Keep in mind it's a different process to get the patch/update out on Xbox, PC, and PS3 (it's actually two process for PS3... Europe and North America).

Once the update starts becoming available, we'll let everybody know. We'll share details in the pinned threads (across in FNV General Discussion and in the support boards), as well as on the blog.

Thanks for your patience.

Please don't hold a platform back from patch release just because one or more of the other platforms may be lagging in their certification process.

And please don't hold up the patch until December 21 to coincide with DLC release for platforms that have no announced DLC - that's a double slap in the face.

I upgraded my system from a twin core AMD 5000 to a Quad core I7 windows 7 64bit, & the game is now constantly crashing, even with the latest patch, it seems to happen when I'm off road, it happened twice in quick succession after leaving Bradley's Shack when heading towards wolfhorn ranch through the hills, didn't happen traveling towards Nipton, happened again when trying to approach walking box cavern from wolfhorn ranch, & behind jean sky diving.

Yes, there isn't such a thing as software/program/game without bugs. BUT, there are programs/games which go through enough rigorous testing that the bug level is minimal. I'm running Intel i7, Windows 7 Ultimate with nVidia 9800 gtx all with latest drivers. FNV hardly crashed at all on my system before the latest patch. Now it crashes regularly. I'm also getting the crash in the UltraLuxe that didn't happen before. There's NO excuse for putting out software that is overly buggy. FNV before the patch (on my system and IMO) didn't exceed the bug threshold of 'too many'. After the patch it most definitely exceeds it by a large margin.
NO excuse Bethesda. Test before you release!

I think there seem to be certain points on the map that cause the game to crash, I gave found several since restating the game, I have returned to the same point on the map & it always crashes at that point, either they did very little testing before they released the game or the beta testers they use are rubish.
