Buggy programs should not be ALLOWED

Apart tfrom the trading issue of buying from traders crash (just traded with travelling trader inside mojave outpost no crash, we'll see if that remains so), I also get periods where on moving I seem to jump in that direction & some action buttons will not operate ie: use, zoom, & VATS is slow. I have just restarted the game & this happened at the powder gang camp just outside Goodsprings, I have also had it at ither locations further into the game.
Come on Bethseda you can do better Fallout 3 was great, crashes & bugs were rare playing that.
People are not prepared to spend hard earned money on buggy crashing software, come on Bethesda get your finger out FiX the BUGS or people will resort to using pirated software.
I have restarted from the begining so have no loose cards or even the caravan deck in my inventory.

Maybe Bethesda should get some of us to be the BETA Testers from now on, I happen to think that some of us could do a better job of finding and relaying game issues than the crew they currently have to do this. What are your thoughts on this?

Cowboy Rifle used.
options affected TAB VATS USE ZOOM F1 F2 F3 & sometimes Esc key affected as well.
I seem to have found a way to reset the problem without having to quit or reload, Press TAB then VATS then Fire this should either take you into the PITBOY or VATS screen on exiting it's ok till the next time.

Single loading weapons have a bug where after you fire them, then reload them, certain things kind of "freeze up" I believe this is already a known bug.

Would love that but that's definitely not going to happen, however a new form of testing will be necessary to prevent further debacles as New Vegas has proven to be. Testing the game(s) by people who live in the vicinity of the Bethesda/Obsidian offices, therefore able to drive there and test it on site obviously doesn't cut it anymore. Those systems used for testing doesn't reflect the average home system that we have standing here in whatever room it may stand . . .

Since my last post here in this thread, I have tried to play this game and saving every few seconds just to get a few yards. It does not matter what I am doing in the game it still CTD constantly. I can walk, run and jump but same old thing CTD! Using any weapon makes no difference either. Lately, after only seconds it CTD without actually doing anything other than walk or run.

PS ... I was a BETA tester in the past and find that the current testers for this game is notably lacking in finding any skills in finding problems and expressing them so they can be resolved for anyone.

I agree, I worte them a year ago asking if I could help and nobody ever got back with me.
I disagree though I think Fallout3 is THE buggiest game ever made, present company excluded.
One of my favorites...but still one of the buggiest.

Edit also I really dont think they care. fallout wiki lists all the bugs in theses games just about.
Theyve released several version since these bugs were known (talking about fo3) and just addressed some of the major game flaws.
So its all documented, they just dont act.

I hardly had any crash issues playing FO3, even with all companions with me, which is supposed to make it more prone to crashing, the biggest bug bear I had with it was dogmeat blocking doorways & not moving out of the way.

Are you experiencing this problem if you have a magasin loading weapon equipped?

One of the main problems I think is that they develop & test on high end computers, which is why the minimum requirements for new vegas is a twin core system.
Then do not seem to apptrciate that normal players cannot afford to upgrade every year & millions of potential users atr still using single core computers.

Another problem is that your average multicore processor is clocked far slower than your average single or dual core processor. Since most games make use of only one core, maybe transfer some background stuff to a second core, a stone old 3.4GHZ Single Core Pentium will still run many games better than a 2.5 Ghz Quad-Core.

This may change, but most of the time you can't optimize your code for multicore processing, most of the time calculations need to be done step by step, the main exception is 3D graphics and there we already use superscalar polycore (200+) processors from NVIDIA or ATI....

At least AMD and Intel realized it meanwhile and modern CPUs are able to disable unused cores and overclock the remaining, so that your 2.5 quad Core turns into a 4Ghz single core and thus runs 18% faster than a 6 year old Pentium 4. Yay!

I've tried it on a single core FX53, sound can be over 30 secs out & most times you do not get any speech, if you attempt repair ED-E he disappears & you remain in the repair screen.

I my self am surprised. You think after the amount of bugs present in their last two rpg releases they would step it up a notch. Oh well I guess you can't have excellent game play and a stable game. It's just sad really to think its not an issue with a small minority but about 75% of the community.

I mentioned it before, but I'll mention it one more time.

The entire number of people who have posted on these, the official forums for New Vegas, since the game's release represent less than three tenths of one percent of copies sold.

That includes everybody who posted in other game sections of the forum and who posted things other than problems.

Even if only half of the games shipped were sold (which I think would be low), 99.4% of purchasers have never posted on the official forums at all.

Saying 75% of people have problems seems like it could be a bit of an exaggeration.

I don't think that that is the case. I believe that they do have various rigs standing there where the game is being tested. However, neither of those rigs are representing the average computer being used at home.

Those rigs are solely being used to test the game on and nothing else is being done with those rigs which is different with ours. Besides playing the game, some of us are using it for music purposes, others for programming purposes and another one is using his or her machine to either video and/or photo editing and the sorts (and then I haven't noted office appliances). That is why outside beta testing is so important so that real gamebreaking bugs and real conflicts/issues can be weeded out before the game hit the shelves. Bugs which can never be found in a Dell or another manufactured/sponsored computer somewhere in the developer's building . . .

I wish there was actually a good metric for finding out how many people ARE actually having issues. I think the forums would be far more crowded if it were 75% but it seems pointless for me to really argue whether it's less since we have no idea.

Who is Berhesda?

Bethesda Game Studios (Bethesda Softworks), the developer. They outsourced the coding and program development to Obsidsian. You know, the ones that screwed up KOTOR II. Another example of outsourcing at its' finest...
