Bugs after 1.2.0.315 patch

Post » Sun May 29, 2011 3:42 am

Having an issue upon completing "Sill in the Dark." I've turned in all the components to fix the air system and return to Elder McNamara to finish "Still in the Dark," after he tells me that he is going to lift the lockdown and gives me the key to the safehouse...It shows my status with BOS, I select "ok", it shows my xp being added. After this is done, my character is literally frozen in place. I can spin him around, crouch, change my view perspectives but I cannot move forward. I cannot pull up my pip-boy nor can I see anything thats usually on the HUD. If I just wait around, the camera goes to 3rd person and rotates around my character like normal, but thats it.

I have not been able to come across anybody else experiencing this issue, so hopefully one of you will be familiar with it or that I can bring this to attention.

I bought the game on release because i loved oblivion and fo3 and wanted to support the company. I played it and it was unplayable. I thought ill just give them a month and theyll fix it, then i'll play it......... BUT NO. Obsidian/Bethesda have not fixed the game, its been near enough half a year. I havent attempted another play of the game yet because a friend tells me its still near unplayable (a theory further supported through reading through the latest forum posts) but i bought it on release to support the company, out of respect for fo3, and they repay me by making me wait 6 months for a patch which ive heard has broken more things than it has fixed. Needless to say my respect/patience is wearing paper thin. Im losing respect for the company and dont think i'll be supporting future obsidian/bethesda projects. Im further disgruntled by them stopping updating of the patch forums, when is the next patch coming? Will it EVER come? Who knows, because bethesda/obsidian stopped updating the patch forums, thus cutting the community off (after we paid for your broken game with our money). Also i would have been a day one buyer of the dlc had fonv worked properely, but due to the broken nature of the game i didnt buy it, and im sure thousands of other gamers didnt, (i personally know about 45 gamers who didnt buy it cause fonv remains broken) I know fo3 had issues on release, which were fixed, but this is just careless and ridiculous. This terribly buggy game must be affecting the amount of money the company can bring in through dlc and future projects in a negative way, theyre LOSING money on dlc and future games by alienating/abandoning customers with the quality of their work, cause theres a big chance we wont buy any future games like we didnt buy the dlc, isnt this threat enough to spur you into fixing the game bethesda/obsidian?? Who ever in obsidian/bethesda green lighted this game to be released in october last year needs to be targeted in V.A.T.S, and given a swift headshot. Corporate greed in its purest form was surely the motivation to release this broken abomination to us then gullable, doting, and trusting fans in october last year. This is the computer game equivalent of a sixual assault, we trusted you, backed you up on release day with our wallets, and you date six assaulted [censored] us with the audacity to repay us with a very broken game, which any games tester who isnt literally certified as a moron [censored] would say is unplayable, dont release it. Set it on fire infact. Needless to say if they make me wait another 2 months for a playable game obsidian/bethesda will have certainly lost me and my friends as customers for life, and we wont be the only customers there going to lose (not that there bothered). SHAME ON YOU BETHESDA/OBSIDIAN.

(A big sorry to the forum readers for the rant, but i've waited months for a playable fonv and have been let down, i just had to let obsidian/bethesda know how I and many others feel).

Dont feel sorry for ranting, as you say, we are many who feels let down just like you.

Without information from bethesda, no one will blame you to imagine the worst.

Maybe Bethesda put Obsidian back in the fridge and is now working on skyrim ... and just let the modders deals with the bugs (and so, yeah, that means we're screwed)

Bwett316 made a good point saying they took F3 and added too much stuff to it, broken it in the process. Dont have a clue about programming, but it definitely looks like it.

But to temper all this a bit, its also true that the last patch has been deployed only a few weeks ago, and it was holydays soon after it ... Everything's not lost, i think.

Did 5 of the triggers for Veronica's I Could Make You Care.

Nothing happened.

Loyal (for Old School Ghoul) gives no options for dialogue except "Goodbye" (breaking this quest, I did Sterling and Andy already).

The patch seems to have addressed NONE of the issues I'm having. Having thoroughly tested it and finding it worthless I'll be removing the patch (for the 3rd time).
I really pleased y'all took the time to balance out some of the weapons, seriously that was a good use of time, not like you could be fixing your broken-ass game.
Never again, Obsidian. Bethesda gets rented prior to purchase.

I know you're pissed Mayhemm, but it hasn't been 6 months, it's been closer to 3, though. Which is still way to [censored] long for it to have not been patched to have only a few very minor bugs.

And like Mayhemm pointed out, I'm not posting in the BUGS forum because I just like chatting with the community, I'm pointing out exactly what you morons need to fix.

We (the players) tested your game for you, pointed out EVERYTHING that you failed to catch (I really don't understand how) and you still haven't fixed it.

New bug ! (never reported, i think)

After i put or take stuff into his inventory, ED-E starts making weird noise, like a broken tv "krrkrkkrrkrrrr krrrk rkkkr". When he make this noise, he's somehow able to fire his blue laser (the followers of Apocalypse upgrade) ... the thing is, i upgraded him at the BoS, he's not supposed to be able to do that !

The problem is solved with a simple game reload, but start again each time i open ED-E inventory.

EDIT : sorry, it has been reported on the fallout wiki, it's hte last bug on ED-E page. it was only reported for PS3 only, so i made the correction.

very buggy indeed. but bugs are nothing compared to constant crashing to the point i'm giving up on the game just as i'm reaching Nipton... (i.e. probably about 5% through the game.)

Companions:
Veronica - Spawns at NCR sharecropper farms when fast traveling to the Gun Runners.
Cass - Disappears multiple times throughout the course of "Heartache by the number".
Ed-E - cannot move through Vault doorways due to the level he hover at.

Let's not forget Rex's habit of sitting down and forgetting to follow you as if you told him to wait (a work-around is available and simple, but you have to be paying enough to attention to notice he's not close), ED-E's mysterious (permanent) disappearances, ED-E's zapper sometimes floating in mid-air detached from his frame, and Boone's constant sheathing/unsheathing his machete when he's looking for an enemy even when told to use a ranged weapon. I've also noticed that once in a while Rex will be in combat and refuse to attack at all, circling his target or charging right past him. Rex also seems to occasionally randomly run off, then turn around and come back. Plus Rex pushes you along sometimes (possibly off cliffs and to your death), likely because when told to stick close, he's scripted to follow too closely. Frankly Rex is more trouble than he's worth. I have close to 200 hours in this game so far, and I get a lot of enjoyment out of it, but it's surprising to me when I find something that isn't glitched.

So my save file got corrupted.

Now when ever i try to create a new game I can go til I make it to about level four or five. Then it just Freezes anytime you want to save the game, or it tries to auto save.

Great patch, forcefully stop me from playing the game outright. Thanks!

I've noticed this as well, other companions do the same thing. :sadvaultboy:

No information on a new patch today then, (facepalm), will the madness ever end?? Good job listing all the faults your finding guys, your helping the game, even though youre doing the seemingly non-existent beta testers job for them hopefully soon someone from bethesda will read all of your lists and fix our game. To be honest though Ive nearly totally given up on this game and bethesda. (Im not buying skyrim).

If i remember correctly, Beth only released two patches for Oblivion on consoles ...

Strangely, we're waiting in vain for a third one for F:NV ...

On the bright side, if they really decided to release a final, complete patch that fixes everything, it gonna take time. lots of time ...

ok, one more ED-E bug.

If you stock weapon on ED-E and go in a casino, all those weapons disappear when you exit the casino, with no way of getting them back. Even if you leave ED-E waiting outside the strip.
The only weapon re-appearing are some type of grenades. All other wepons are effing ERASED.

after 3 hours of game in the casino of the strip, i realized that it was all for nothing, because i had lost all my heavy weapon stocked on ED.

Just. great.

If you haven't already tried it, try playing the game with ALL autosave options turned OFF, and don't overwrite saves. Create a new save, and delete the old one (unless you want to keep it just in case). Overwriting saves causes script issues, which lead to crashes. This has solved crashing and freezing issues completely for a lot of players. It's also best to try this when creating a new character, so your first save starts from scratch. I haven't found it necessary to try this myself, but I've heard many times that it is the ultimate solution to freezing/crashing issues. And remember to always create a new save, every time, and never overwrite them. Another tip is to only load saves from the main menu (no need to go all the way to the Xbox 360 Dashboard, but at least to Fallout: NV's main menu, then load from there). Following these tips until the problem is fixed (IF it gets fixed, of course) should prevent any further crashing or freezing. If not, I can't offer much more help, unfortunately. But I hope it works for you.

Did, had to create a new game, deleted the corrupted save after saving the first time. While i can turn the auto saves off, I cannot save the game at all without it crashing, defeating the purpose of playing the game, yes i could play longer but it would be wasting time still. The Game freezes and locks up the console requiring a hard restart

clearing the cache erased the things i stored in my hideout ? wow, didnt knew about that. Ok i'll try, thx.

EDIT : you can try this at home :

1 bind a gun with NO SCOPE to a d-pad direction, and a SCOPED rifle or gun to another one.
2 In third person view, press the two left triggers, Lt and Lb. Your char should be raising his arms to aim.
3 Now here's the trick : while keeping those two triggers down, quick-switch from the no-scope gun to the scoped one. Remember, keep the two left triggers down while switching.

You got it !! Welcome to the incredible "glitch sight" ^_^

pS : i assume this trick only works if you enable the iron sight in your options.

Texture will randomly overlap then stutter all about
The ghoul you recruit in the quest Talent Pool my be recurited without a buissness card or even knowledge of the quest
The Mister Sandman noise when you murder someone may play for about 30 seconds or not at all.

I ran into this issue - ED-E delivers a message from the Brotherhood of Steel after enough trigger words are activated. During the last paragraph of this speech, the speaker's dialect changes to that of a hispanic male, and the player is consistantly stuck without being able to bring up the Pip-boy or move.
