Bugs after 1.2.0.315 patch

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:54 pm

Before the patch, I only noticed a few critters stuck in rocks. Now I have NPCs all over the place floating in the air, running into each other and stuck in furniture.

The Vicki and Vance casino never opened up for business after I found a Sherrif for Primm, nor did Layla and her crew show up.

I found these in the game I started after the patch.

- Cpl. William Farber's unmarked quest to get food supplies is still bugged. I managed to get the dialog option for Blake to send supplies over to Camp McCarran, and I did get the option from Ruby Nash once. However in this current file (patch 1.02), I only got the dialog option from Blake and both Ruby Nash and Fitz did not have any dialog options related to getting food supplies for Camp McCarran.
- Arcade Gannon and ED-E still have companion disappearing issues. Reloading from a previous file was the only way to get them back, as the autosave saved over the situation where both companions are completely missing aka companion markers do not show up on the Pipboy's map.

if it helps i found a way to climb onto the airplane to talk to jack for young hearts. There is a table with some metal boxes stacked on it, jump on them and onto the wing of the airplane. Walk across and talk to jack.

Well your lucky.... Jack has totally dissapeared for me. I can't seem to find him. I check every building. The marker on my map leads me to an area on the east side of black mountain... where the centaurs are. I talk to the girl and she just mutters "Jack's great".

Also I can't complete for the republic part 2. I completed how little we know before I talked to Liza O'malley. There is no marker for the quest now... I try talking to colonel moore and I just stare at her blankly.... This seems to be the most bugged quest of them all.

Another problem involves NPC's floating in mid air or sinking below the ground and having odd ways of getting off the ground if they are pushed over. Although it's humerous it can be rather annoying.

My feedback (skimmed through the thread, didn't read every post):

- That Lucky Old Sun. Old Lady Gibson and her 3 dogs will spawn together with some molerats at HELIOS ONE's mirror yard and turn hostile. This area is where the player is supposed to repair both the western and eastern reflectors. Reloading from the auto save will at times resolve this issue i.e. Old Lady Gibson won't spawn there.
- plenty more freezing issues compared to unpatched and patch 1.01.
- ED-D can still disappear for no apparent reason. I've tried waiting 7 days in game, but it doesn't show up in Primm. I've already repaired the elevators at Vault 22, so that's not an option for me. I did try traveling to and fro on the repaired elevators at Vault 22 but that did not bring ED-E back. The only solution was to reload a previous save.
- Previously, only scorpions get clipped in the ground. Now, even Geckos are stuck on rocky terrain at Goodsprings Source and Nightstalkers are also stuck in Vault 19's sulfur mines and Charleston Cave. This issue has gotten worse, not better.
- Camp McCarran's Lta Boyd will refuse to speak to the player if the player plants a C-4 and blows up Silus. This cuts off the quest line The White Wash completely. edit: This is wrong. I just discovered that if the player were to speak to Colonel Hsu about a leak, and speak to Captain Curtis to flag the quest line "I Put A Spell On You", talking to Lta Boyd will open up the quest line to ask about missing persons, and thus the player is able to flag "The White Wash". ^ Sorry!

Wait a minute, You got the issue with Lady Gibson as well? What the hell was up with that? It doesn't make any sense. However it was pretty funny so it didn't really bother me.

Bug or not bug, but after the patch (started new char post patch) the framerates are WAY much worse generally for me than they used to be pre patch. Screen tearing is almost unbearable at times. Also this manifests in places im 100% sure i didn′t notice it pre patch, like Prim for example. This is getting really annoying and total immersion killer. And yes i keep the correct buttons pressed when im booting the game to clear cache and no help. Just feels like the whole perfomance of game is worse than it used to be pre patch (wich wasn′t particularly glorious to begin with)

Well, i've got an epic and annoying bug.

It makes me impossible to change the character visual, the button works perfectly in other cases, like applicating mods to weapons, but if i try to put the camera in 1st person, it doesnt make anything, the game still normally.

I've meet this bug after telling to Yes Man that Mr. House was dead, and we went into the Lucky 38. When i came out, i was unable to change the visual camera.
If i load a previous save, the camera is automatically put on 1st person, and i can't even change it...

Sorry for my bad english v.v

I've quit playing. Even the 'minor' bugs have finally irritated me to the point of no return....if you consider getting frozen in vats and slaughtered a minor bug. I don't understand how something like the vats issue was overlooked...its there plain as day for me about 10 percent of the time using vats.
However, I felt like I won in a way, because I didn't buy the dlc and won't buy any further dlc either. With fallout 3, I purchased all the add ons, because for me, the game didn't have too many bugs, so they got my money. I'm sure there's other people out there that didn't get dead money for same reasons as me, and if that's the case someone really blundered at obsidian. If you take into account thousands not buying dlc because of bugs or thousands not even buying the original game because of overlooked bugs, there's really a problem with that company

Exactly.

I've been playing FO:NV again after the supposed fixes and I every now and then I think, "Hey, getting Dead Money might be a lot of fun." Then I run into some [censored] bugs that should have been ironed out MONTHS ago before the game hit the shelves and they still aren't fixed.

Then I realize I'm not buying a damn thing from Obsidian. Bethesda may get my money again since they only published this POS, but they're culpable, too, in my book.

Also, I finally updated today just to see what the patched "fixed" and now I can't send my followers back to the Lucky 38.

How you (Obsidian) guys manage to [censored] things up even more is beyond me.

Fallout 3 had bugs and glitches in the game... You might want to take back about FO3... Besides for not buying the DLC your not hurting besthsoft or Obsiden your hurting microsoft. they are the ones to put price tags on the DLC.

Also what game doesn't have:
Bugs
Glitches
Freezing

I ran into glitches and bugs playing ME2. Same goes for Grand Theft Auto series along with Halo series.

The problem is that they rushed it to get better profit for there companies during the holiday rush. If they took there time maybe the game would have less freezing along with less than 10 bugs and glitches at most.

Among all the games out there they are still playable.

Where to begin...ah well, I'll list as many as I can remember.....as follows:

Texture loading in all outside areas, distant low rez textures of static objects I'm standing right next to (sometimes corrects itself ...most of the time it does not, often times they transpose themselves over one another...sometimes entire buildings such as Helios One) or the bridge at 188...or the entire hangers in Boomer territory.

"Candy Stripes" (best way I can describe it) on all nearby rocks...if Bethesda wants, I can screenshot this and email it to them...they only show up when I'm standing near rocks in all areas, saves and occurs even after reinstall+patch...well...all of these bugs for that matter..that is if they are interested or care. Upon closer inspection, these stripes are actually tiny, colored, garbled text and numbers...

Stuttering frames in some areas (McCarren especially, occasionally strip areas)....the game nearly slows to a grinding halt but is actually going frame by frame...reloading, entering exiting area helps but...ok really??

Getting stuck on some surfaces some of everywhere....companions included....I've started to avoid hilly areas entirely, hidden location or no.

Constant pause every 20 to 30 seconds while traveling, sometimes occurs in interior areas.

Crashing to XMB (I didn't even know PS3 games could do this till Fallout: NV)

Constant hard freezing practically everywhere *AND OFTEN!*, guaranteeing that I have to hard reset the system....this one aggravates me the MOST! :brokencomputer:

Unable to remove quest items after successful completion of "Wheel of Fortune" quest....I would like the 15lbs of inventory space back...that would be nice.

Unable to complete with successful outcome "I put a spell on you" quest....no matter *what* I do...can no longer get onto monorail to disarm bomb...it takes off (even with Turbo active) and blows up.

What have you done to Boone? He can swim now, but does not react to player prowess in combat anymore, freezes in place, gets stuck on terrain more, does not look at you or even acknowledge your presence when walking around him (as companion) and gets 'confused' in combat and constantly switches weapons and soaks damage instead.

Veronica gets rooted to the ground in some areas...sometimes a 'follow me' command fixes this but more than often...no.

WHERE DOES ED-E KEEP VANISHING TO?! Waypoint shows it should be right in front of me...but auto travel, reloading, praying, and/or cursing the sky *does not* bring it back. I have resorted to not even using ED-E at all now... ALL followers do this exact same thing...but ED-E is the worst.

Follower characters complete ultimate refusal to enter townhouse structures. I should explain this one more....the structures such as the mayors house in Nipton or the main building at Camp Golf...they *will not* enter these structures under any circumstances...and often vanish from the game entirely once entered, I have resorted to telling them to 'wait' outside and just do the area my d@mn self to keep from having to yet again reload another save.

Near the Control Tower area in Mcarren, there is an invisible hole in the ground near the boxes that I and everybody else nearby, can fall into and if under attack...stuck there permanently..this includes quest related people that get confused (I put a Spell on you) and go the wrong way...all of which causes me to reload a save...*again*.

Companion characters vanishing suddenly after area switch...then dying for no reason at all...forcing me to reload an earlier save *yet again*! Can't say a reason why this happens...it just decides to once in a while just to make sure I'm still mad at buying this game.

NPC's at random getting 'stuck' in areas practically everywhere...meaning they will stay inside a building until I show up, then ALL come rushing and moving around at once I enter said area...like a building....or the random NPC's around the strip that walk into doors like they want to area switch...but can't...so they run into the door until the end of time...or the game freezes again. Also on this topic, NPC's stuck in objects...like under tables, in the ground (I think more enemies etc I've killed were moles than anything else), quest giving/receiving NPC's falling into the earth or stuck inside a wall...in all areas...people running up and talking to me inside a building....but I'm outside...so it zooms in to look really closely at a talking building.

Inventory mis-reports the number of items for some items...even though they are exact duplicates...for instance, if I sell an item...sometimes the exact same item will still be there as if I had a duplicate...but does not say how many. Also some items vanishing entirely without rhyme or reason.

Food Sanitizer is gone from the game entirely....don't think I didn't notice...never had a problem with this item outside of how heavy it was..and the exact same bugs still happen around Repconn....so...

Items stuck in static objects...like the magazine under the desk in that general store in nipton....and COUNTLESS other areas...makes me wonder how many items I've missed due to this....meaning, I can see it, and it can see me, but there is no getting it...also those fission batteries behind the desk in Dino-byte...same thing..hundreds of examples of this one but those are the ones that come to mind. Notable mention...items practically the world over falling into the ground inside and outside.

Some static tables are wrong....the double layered tables (examples are coffee tables in lucky 38 suite) actually exist at an angle (so items slide off) rather than being 2 seperate layers. Same with the study desks...items are all over the floor around those desks due to the same thing...but a more violent angle since the back part of the desk is higher...again an example can be found in the suite in 38. If an item is 'under' that invisible slant, it cannot be retrieved...this includes dropped items.

Textures not drawn on surfaces across the wasteland...such as rocks leading from Novac to Gibson shed, around the areas near the first Legion camp....and pretty much just scattered everywhere...these 2 are the most glancing areas I've noticed.

Camp Searchlight, turrets do *not* work....no point in turning the turrets on if they are trying to implode on themselves...do not respond with/without a hacked terminal...free exp I guess? Also for some reason this area is extremely high risk for a game freeze...I don't even like going over there anymore :cryvaultboy:

NPC's going apesh!t when reloading a save...why does the NCR hate me so d@mn much if I'm Idolized or close to it? Or when entering Silver Rush...instant homicide? Or the Tops?? Or some random NCR camp in the wilderness??? Is it because I said something wrong? And no I'm not wearing opposing faction armor at the time before some of you start..

What is classified as stealing or bad karma action anymore? I've been very evil for some time just taking things from a non-descript cave in the middle of nowhere...or my room in the lucky 38...if I drop my revolver....I guess taking it back is stealing from myself...or several plants across the wasteland...I had no idea picking berries was so taboo. Not to mention several doors/containers practically everywhere are flagged as no-no zones and I get evil karma regardless of it being in the middle of nowhere and no one owns it. I'm just convinced this game WANTS me to be evil...so I'm the most pure-evil Idolized character in the book....till I have to reset my little world yet again.

Camera getting confused on where exactly the viewpoint is for the gun I'm holding (1st person view)....sometimes it looks as if I'm holding the gun with my head ducked under my arms..which is kinda funny when I visualize it. Notable mention: My gun vanishing entirely...fun fun.

Moonwalking traveling merchant NPC's....didn't know they were MJ fans....happens at random between Novac and 188..haven't seen it anywhere else (yet).

V.A.T.S. refusing to respond at all...I've gotten so d@mn sick of this and getting lit up because of it....I don't hardly even use it anymore.

44. Revolver pistol animation shows bullets showing up in the chamber before my hand actually even puts the bullets in.

Loading the game at start sometimes does not report sound on optical connection setups....rebooting game fixes problem but....

I turned the game on. <----that's the bug.

But in all seriousness..., I really want to like this game...I waited quite some time for someone to pick this series back up and THEN to boot bring it into a free-roaming world..
..but to do it like this....
...it's like tempting me with my favorite food but it has broken glass laced completely through out the meal....so I have to sit and pick out all the glass in order to enjoy the food...where most people wouldn't even bother finishing the meal....but I have to say, its gotten to the point where I can't even finish it either.

Please fix this game. I can't in honesty recommend or review this game positively unless this game gets some serious work done to it.

I've tried to keep this civil as I can...but this game seriously needs to be patched without question...hopefully somebody up there will fix it...especially do to the constant hard resets/reloading/crashing to XMB...I can't buy a new system over this game. Guess I gotta shelf it entirely now :( .

Also, to note, I play quite a few games...and have no problems at all with them...even the ones that were considered buggy....this game is on a whole new level of trainwreck.

Thats ridiculous saying that not purchasing their dlc wont hurt them. Im sure if hundreds of people held back on purchasing dlc it would show that many are displeased and if its a loss to microsoft itll also be a loss for obsidian in the long run when game content proves not as popular as it should be. I dont think im putting a comnpany under, but im just stating that i was once a loyal customer but is now fed up...not trying to 'rally' other people, but im sure others didnt download dlc for exact same reason as I.

And about other games having bugs...im not an idiot. I've played all these games Joey and despite some of these games having bugs, they dont near the amount that fonv has. I dont remember the last time i froze in place without being able to do anything in halo as im shot. I understand fonv is a huge, open world style game, and i expected alot of bugs, but i also expected the major bugs to all be fixed...especially the obvious one such as held weapon disappearing, or arms 2 feet above your head, or freezing in vats,or vanishing companions, glitched companions and even enemies diving head first into the ground with their tails erecting from the desert.

I don′t even care if microsoft feels the hurt or not. All i care is that when i decided i wont purchase the single one DLC to this game unless it′s PROPERLY fixed, it makes me feel better from myself :P

Nah, truth to be told. After i got 3 hard lock ups in timeframe of 30 minutes today and all this post patch with new char made on purpose to finally enjoy the game, i give up with it. I could have lived perhaps with the rest of the glitches still around after patch, but the freezes... I′m not technical expert but to me the sound my xbox dvd drive gives everytime i need to turn off the power completely after game freezes just sounds all wrong. I wont risk my console just because some people felt they can release broken game. And even if i′m wrong and my xbox goes thru all this jazz swimmingly, i realize i dont need to put up with this anymore. Luckily i got Assassins Creed Brotherhood as xmas prezzie, i think i concentrate to that now and carry my FO:NW to local game store for trade. And when Skyrin comes out i will sit tight and wait....as long it takes to see how it runs.

the game freeze when i buy numerous stuff at the same time at the gun runners shop (the one with the robot).
I've try to buy one item at a time, but the game also freeze when im done shopping ...
So, i cant buy at this shop anymore.

i also have trouble with mick and ralph. See, when you get good enough reputation in freeside, there's a freeside inhabitant who's coming to me, announcing that mick and ralph wants to do me special prizes. After that point, i can no longer shop at mick and ralph, the dialog line for the shopping inventory seems broken.
the only workaround i found was to kill the freeside inhabitant when i see him coming ...

I dont know if its a bug or not, but it looks like merchants who plays caravan dont sell caravan cards anymore after i beat them 5 times.

Also, im receiving good karma for killing ghouls and fiends, but no bad karma for killing innocents. Strange, but i cant say if its a bug or not.

im french, hope this was understandable :)

PS : thx for letting Interplay taking care of fallout online. lol.

still with Birds of a Feather. I listen to the spy, kill him, report to Hsu, he tells me go get the bomb, I get to the train defuse it. It tells me to report back Hsu but the speech options never update. The other thing I notice is the train never departs the station, iv waited over 24hours next to the train and the bomb never goes off and the train never leaves.

we dont get any feedback about those glitches, there's no news about an upcoming patch, no answers from dev/mods in any topic ...

bethesda, we're not posting here because we love the community or the look of the forums, we are here to be in touch with you. the least you could do is to give us some ANSWERS ...

F:NV was released like 6 month ago already, and the patches only had solved 10% of the problems so far, i mean ... please, do something.

I have to say, I am actually have more issues more frequently since the last patch ( 23 days ago ) and I am starting to get pretty upset about them not even posting anything as far as when a patch MIGHT be coming...I love the game but it seems like they took Fallout 3 and tried to add too much stuff to it and broke it, then released it to the public.

Sometimes, whilst in V.A.T.S., you will do nothing and just stand there, taking damage while you're standing still like a dummy.
