How long will he be in there for? Am I the only person that it kinda annoys?

To break out of jail, perhaps? Then escape to another city and be a merchant there

Well, he has a side quest of his own that I feel like it should have been expanded on!

It's a glitch. If you're on the PC the UESP fixes the problem and he's released after a couple of days.

You didn't have to send him to jail you know. You can just toss his ring and go talk to Brynjolf and be done with it.

So much this. Such a let down after hearing half the town going on about what a bunch of langers they are.

Best if he never makes it to jail. I always avoid it.

You mean USKP?

As I see it, if my character doesn't hesitate before putting an innocent man in prison or bullying decent shopkeepers into giving her money, then she doesn't care if the aforementioned innocent ever goes out, or rots in his cell. It's not her problem.

But yes, I think it's unreasonable that he stays in jail forever. After all, he was convicted for stealing one puny ring, that's not a crime awful enough to award him life sentence. So I'm thankful for the patch

According to Brynjolf he's only supposed to be in jail for a couple of days.

It's a bug. The unofficial patch fixes the script so he will leave jthe ail after 'taking care of business' is completed

This. Only I wish it would be a fully fleshed out counter-guild, not the crappy 1 mission pentilus oculatus or whatever its called we got with the DB

I thought it was funny how you can arrest him but he is still friendly to you if you visit him in jail

Well, he doesn't know who framed him. Same with Mjoll: she's still friendly with the player even if he gets to the top ranks of the thieves' guild.

Bwahahaha I don't think I've ever seen anyone use 'langer' online outside of boards.ie.

It is irritating though how railroaded that was. After Oblivion I was looking forward to joining the thieves guild since that had a fun, sneaky robin hood sort of vibe to it, only to discover in Skyrim that they're all thuggish [censored]. Okay, so I'll team up with Mjoll and wipe them out of the ratway. Nooooope.
Wiping out the Dark Brotherhood was disappointing too, it took me like 5 minutes in one sanctuary (and I know there's another but I can't get into it) to kill maybe half a dozen people. Granted I'm probably at the point where I'm overleveled for most quests, especially as a stealth archer, but surely sneaky assassins shouldn't have been quite so...unsuspecting? Is there more to this, or was that really it?
