Can you sell me on dual-wielding?

Especially when most gamers only know charge > swing > hit.

Ha! Yeah. It has been years since I did any fencing but I still remember attack, parry, riposte, counter riposte, counter parry (a circular parry, not to be confused with a counter attack/riposte), parry of yielding, disingage, cutover, counter disingage (you guessed it, a circular disingage), stop thrust, feint, fleche, balestra . . .

I had a dual-wielding assassin character for a while, and his DPS was insane when he went all-out, however there are enough issues with it that I stopped playing him and went to using 2H weapons instead. Here's a few of the main ones I ran into:

1) Swapping from DW to a spell disengages the LH weapon, and also removes it from any 'Favorites' entry it's filed under. Since I use Restoration instead of potions in combat (I have a strict rule about not accessing my inventory mid-fight), this means I spend an inordinate amount of time getting the weapon pair reset so they both get drawn.

2) In the early levels you are incredibly vulnerable, especially if wearing Light armor, due to the inability to block.

3) A large proportion of DW's efficacy is bound up in the perks, which means that without them your damage output is rather lackluster; this compounds issue #2 due to inability to quickly kill opponents.

4) Elemental Fury and weapon enchantments, with a couple of specific exceptions, are mutually incompatible, which makes using Absorb Health weapons a liability rather than an asset due to the large DPS hit doing so entails.

I dual wielded maces and got every perk regarding damage in one handed. On expert difficulty at level 44 I killed Alduin within ten seconds with a dual power attack flurry. Overpowered late game.
