I'm quite sure this method will be circumvented by people who know their stuff. This has got to be one of the stupidest business strategies I've ever heard of.

Thank god we still have companies like bethesda! and..... others that haven't done this.

This also means that someone can't even rent the game to try it out before purchasing it. That is an important part of the decision making process when I buy new games.

Here's a thought. If you want to ensure that your games don't end up on a used gameshelf then try focusing on things like content and replay value.
