I suppose the end product prices are based around you finding the ingredients in the wild and thus being pure profit.

Cooking is a terrible feature in my opinion however because of how useless it is.

I hope that cooking is greatly expanded upon in future DLCs, making it a more worthwhile endeavor.

Doesn't help the console crowd.

I've decided that perhaps some food items are not that bad in terms of health points per pound. Rabbit legs and salmon steaks are only 0.1 pounds apiece, yet they restore like five health each. How much do potions weigh? Half a pound? So then you're getting 25 points of health back per half-pound, compared to 25-150 with health potions. So perhaps not that great a deal, but as the man said, it's all free and the ingredients are easy to find - while alchemical reagents might have to be bought and can be rarer than food ingredients.

Perhaps cooking is of more use at lower levels and loses its usefulness as you gain the ability to find or make the more powerful health potions.

Like many new features added in Skyrim, it could have been good and useful, however bar fights, cooking and marrige, amongst others, seem like they were added very last minuite, and did'nt really fufil their potential...in that they were [censored] useless.

But that's the thing, it would be a loss in profits to cook!

If you sold all of the ingredients in their raw form, you would have a greater profit than if you cooked them. The only recipe where it is more profitable to cook than to sell the raw ingredients is apple cabbage stew.

Only if you level Speechcraft though, right?

I still sell Potatoes, Cabbage, and Carrots for 0 gold :(

The point of cooking isn't the money you can make out of it, but the profit in combat. And fun.

AAAAH I get it :lmao:

There is also not much in the way of gameplays worth of this feature -aside- from RP value, now I'm not going to use RP value as a buff not everyone RP's. but I mean there aren't even challanges or quests in the game to cook? wouldnt it have been interesting to work for a Tavern? remember all that talk about how you could have Jobs in Skyrim? yeah I don't see anything extra from the past TES titles in this regard. I'd of found it exceptionally interesting if I could work for a Tavern and Cook foods and brew ale. and all that jazz

I hope for the same as well to add in more to it through DLC I wouldn't mind it being expanded through a more hardcoe mode where you actually have to eat with prepared food being more efficient, With that said I have had my life saved plenty of times when I ran out of potions using health gaining food especially veggie soup running in the background. I did kinda wish that cooking would have rivaled or replaced alchemy for stamina boosting and restoring.

Vegetable soup can let you Power Attack spam as long as it doesn't wear out. Cooking, in this regard, is actually OP instead of useless and boring.

Yep, speechcraft has to be fairly high before you can sell them for gold.

Skyrim has added a lot of nice features, but some of them were implemented poorly. Cooking is one such example.

For instance, some cooking recipes result in a net loss in total value. Take the recipe for cooked beef, it requires raw beef (4 gold) and a salt pile (2 gold). Cooked beef is worth 5 gold total, so you actually lose money by creating it! I believe this is a poor gameplay mechanic when a type of crafting almost always results in a net loss of profit.

Out of 18 recipes, only 1 cooking recipe results in a profit (apple cabbage stew). 2 recipes break even, and the other 15 cause you to lose money! Elsweyr Fondue actually results in a 63 gold loss in profits when compared to the ingredients it's made of!

Some would argue that although you don't have as much money as before, the benefits of the cooked food outweigh that. I don't find this to be true, because the majority of the recipes are very weak. Most are just mild buffs and restoration items for your health and stamina.

I hope that cooking is greatly expanded upon in future DLCs, making it a more worthwhile endeavor.

Nope. I have no life. I haven't had a visitor to my house in 5 years, I spend every day alone. Thank you for reminding me of that, I'm going to contemplate suicide bake cookies! :vaultboy:

How so? The only good thing that comes out of PCs is things like Unofficial Oblivion Patch and mods like that. The more I browse the mods, the more I want to contemplate suicide. Furry six mods? Yeahm that's not experiencing the games "full potential". I think you are just being a troll.
