Discovered that my EVGA Precision has a framerate limiter ability, so I capped Grimrock at 100fps and now can turn vsync off. Less input lag again, yay. The game ran at a near constant 250ish fps for me without a fps limit or vsync - that's with everything on High - which is why it's overheating some cards I guess.

Most games, if I set everything to max or ubermax or whatever, the fps drops to 120 or less which doesn't make the GPU heat up drawing all those extra frames all the time.
And in the meantime....this is still a lovely old skool game. Having lots of fun with it. One thing I like about it is that (for me at least) it's great for playing in short sessions. Half an hour here, an hour there. Combat becomes more difficult in some spots as you get further down in the levels, especially if you're terrible at dodging/avoiding, like me. Puzzles still don't seem that difficult. They're not like, say, Riven type puzzles.
