Cologne and Perfume

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 10:31 am

Scents don't have to cost an arm and a leg to smell good on someone. The key is to find which scent is compatible with your body chemistry.
The same perfume can smell vastly different on a wide range of people, it can also smell quite similar on a vast range of people.
Some people are lucky and their body chemistry works wonderfully with inexpensive perfumes and oils.
Woodsy, spicy botanical scents seem to be more compatible with me than musky or heavily floral and more modern ones.
Lately I have favored unscented soap, and an olive oil with clove hair product. Hubs loves it.

That said, Brut by Faberge was one of my most hated fragrances for men.
Everyone I knew that wore that reeked, it smelt awful.
First date with my husband, he smelled wonderful. Manly, fresh, and like a ferny glen with a bubbling brook.
I asked him what cologne he was wearing....it was Brut by Faberge.
He bought me a ridiculously expensive cololgne one christmas that made me reek of funeral flowers, I suppose our body chemistsry is quite compatible, we can both wear relatively inexpensive cologne.

I don't wear it, nor do I like when others wear it. As long as you don't stink, no smell is better than smelling like the perfume department in Belk. I.E. sickening.

I abhore Axe, mostly because my little brother and his friends have gotten into the habit of dumping a bucketful on themselves every morning. When about ten 15-year-old guys come over to your house, doused in Axe, smelling like cigarettes and sweat under that, and then decide to inhabit the room right next to yours... It's so horrible.

I love nice-smelling things in general, and wear some perfume sometimes. Marc Jacobs Cucumber is my personal favorite, but I usually wear just body sprays or some kind of body lotions from Bath and Body Works. Those tend to smell much better than most perfumes, anyway, and aren't as noticeable. Noticeable isn't good.

I like when there are faint scents, but most perfumes are just overpowering. I don't use any cologne but I sometimes use scented aftershave, usually just for fancy things, for everyday use I just use my deo stick to prevent stench.

I'll only wear it on special occasions, not every day. As for on the opposite six, I do like males that smell nice, but that can be achieved with some nice smelling body wash and soap. I do hate it when people go overkill on it though, because that's just as unappealing as smelling bad.

EDIT: Fixed a dreadful mistake, although I fear the damage has already been done :P

Edit: Don't worry sweetie, it can be our little secret. ;)
