Cologne and Perfume

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 8:18 pm

Well, recently I have been nagged into wearing cologne. Honestly, I can't stand the stuff, it always irritates my nose and makes me sneeze. I don't even like to smell perfume on a woman.

I am all for bathing and smelling clean, but cologne/perfume is just overkill if you ask me. If you have terrible BO, then I can understand wearing the stuff, but if not, then I don't really see the point in it.

Anyway, what are your thoughts on the matter?

EDIT: Added a poll option.

I love all my girlfriends perfume spray things. I don't really wear cologne myself. I wear the Old Spice "after hours" spray though.

I don't want to smell BO, but most colognes and perfumes hurt my nose. Too many chemicals.

Yeah, I like wearing them. Usually the more subtle stuff though. As for on women, definitely, unless they put on something extremely strong and "in-your-face" in which case I absolutely hate it and can't wait to get out of the room.

They usually make me sick... watery eyed, nearly dry heaving, and or migraines.

I don't wear cologne (only on special occasions)

But in the right amount I love it when girls wear perfume

Too much however, is a turn off

Of course then the other problem is if you're dating a girl then you break up then her perfume smell stays for like a week :(

(and hey OP what about guys who like cologne on guys :P)

No, I don't wear cologne, and I only sometimes like it on women. As long as it isn't overdone, I'm usually fine, but there are some aroma's that I am not sure why they would want to wear...

I'll occasionally wear cologne if I'm in the mood. But, nothing's worse than some guy walking into a room wearing a deigo T, basking the room with the smell of tiger piss.

I'm allergic to chemical scents so I can't tolerate being near anyone who wears cologne or perfume. Going to the grocery store is a nightmare. Fellow women of the world, please stop bathing in that junk. You're killing the ozone layer.

I used to wear cologne many years ago, but stopped wearing it some time ago. Sometimes I don't mind when others do; it all depends on who, how much, and whether that perfume/cologne fits the person wearing it.

Depends on how strong is it really. If I can smell it from 5 feet away, then I hate it. I should only smell it if I'm right up next to her.

No, it irritates my throat and makes me cough, no matter how strong it is.

Are we talking about proper cologne or just ordinary deodorant?

I would hope proper cologne seeing as how 10 people said no they don't use it and 5 people said sometimes

That's a lot of stinky forumers :P

That's what I was afraid of.

These guys are nerds, after all.

Well, I'm a nerd too, but I like to think of myself as a, I dunno, Lipstick Nerd or something.

pungent and gag-inducing. :yuck: No, I've never enjoyed the smell of perfume or cologne, I find it very artificial and it offends my olfactory senses.

That said, I'm all for antiperspirants and deodorants, because stinky sweat is just downright nasty.

Gah I may be stereotyping here but while many women complain about men occasionally releasing gas (which BTW releases gasses that are toxic for the body such as Hydrogen Sulfide, making releasing gas a beneficial activity for ones health) they often have no qualms about constantly stinking up the place themselves with perfume.

As someone who likes the serenity of a lack of smell in the environment and as someone who doesn't always find perfume or cologne to smell good I can say I′d rather go for a girl that doesn't or only rarely uses perfume rather than one that uses it frequently.

Sometimes people (yes, the men are also at fault here sometimes with cologne) go overboard and you feel like you were just hit by a wall when someone with too much cologne or perfume walks past. It can get so strong when overused you don't just smell it, you feel it! When people use that much cologne or perfume it can make you gag :S

Anyway just my 2 cents here on the topic.

You seem to be missing something here; One of those is generally considered to be pleasing to smell...while the other is not. I will leave it up to you to figure out which is which. :whistling:
