Community Discussion is so ... peaceful.

Lately, I've "angered" ppl that disagreed with me on this board. I didn't do anything but post my opinion.

I'm probably biased but the times I remember I wasn't replying to anyone just posting in general.

Ya ... one particular forumite freaked out because I'd replied to three of his/her posts ... :lmao: You get your crazies amongst even these here normals.

In the seven years I've been here, this is definitely one of the calmest periods CD has gone through. A few previous posters hit the nail on the head I think; It's largely the same people that post in CD, and these people are familiar with the rules, as well as each other.

I've always seen CD as the place that some forumers migrate to after maybe a few months or even a few years of posting almost exclusively in one of the gaming forums. After all, I don't think anybody joins BGSF purely for CD. :P Because of this, posters here tend to be a bit more mature in terms of their posting.

I think that's very true. I posted some really embarrassing crap in Morrowind General when I first joined, I'm glad all those posts got purged years ago! :hehe:

But what Gamgee is saying is true as well. There's quite a bunch of people here who really hate each other, and I definitely don't like everyone myself, but because of the strict moderating conflicts rarely get out in the open.

Also because topics that start serious conflicts like religion and politics cannot be mentioned here, so the tension is rather cool. And yeah as someone said before, I've seen problem people here but they usually leave after the rest of CD gets sick of them. It's a good board, for sure.

Most of the people that frequent these boards are relatively intelligent, reasonable, usually pleasant, helpful and polite as well.

Stay away from Skyrim General...dear gods...

Indeed. But Skyrim General is getting better as time goes on. Yet Community Discussion I hardly see any real fights, and I love the posts of the people who post here. People like Evilfish1, old Andy, and the like. :P

Agree with this as well. I lurked the CD quite a bit while posting a lot on the FNV forums but didn't post in here often until recently.

I haven't been here nearly as long as the long timers, but it has slowed down in the CD area quite a bit even during my time here, as well. I still like it here tho...it's a great place to come when I want to procrastinate pass a little time before doing other things.

SHENANIGANS!!! I SHALL DOMINATE THIS FORUM AND SEND IT INTO CHAOS!!! :P

Speaking seriously though I have to admit the CD here is way more "happy" than other forums. I mostly attribute this to the mods that help to keep the trash in the garbage where it belongs. Though I will say it is sometimes a little too easy to rub people the wrong way and get a post closed.

You can speak openly. You just have to assure it's appropriate for 13+ and that disagreements with others is expressed in a diplomatic way. On this forum we encourage diplomacy and kindness.

Learning and practicing diplomatic ways to disagree and to get our points across is good to practice wherever we are.

Actually, I think the troublemakers might all be over in the Dishonored forums, asking for things like 3rd person perspective, character creation, and love interests.

This is why forums shouldn't be opened until there is a fairly substantial amount of information on the game. Its not really possible to discuss anything related to Dishonered besides suggesting powers.

Having been a moderator on both Forums and chat sites now for over 13 years, a lesson ive learnt is to think first about what your typing, to use good judgement, at least use some educated facts, and be constructive in your statements.
I can honestly say many days ive typed up long replys, only to delete them before pressing the post button, and having learnt some sections of the law, one post i just typed only about 30 minutes ago, i had to delete sections of because it could have been interpreted as libelous it was true but thats not the way they would have seen it.

Ive sat in the Skyrim forums and that doesn't even rate on a scale of 1 to 10, in comparison to the WOW forums which are basically a free for all for morons to troll, flame, generally criticise anyone asking a serious question, spam endless rubbish, and the Modertors are useless and in some cases as bad as the posters on the forum, if and when you ever see one, then then have them tell you to shut up or give up, and they let the lunatics run the asylum.

In the seven years I've been here

Wow, has it really been that long? Seems like just yesterday I wandered over seeking help on how to find the Dwemer Puzzle Box... :whistling:

As for the topic at hand, I've seen my fair share of verbal throwdowns here in CD, but usually they are handled well and quickly by the mods, so nothing is really ever perpetuated.

Edit: I svck at grammar. Which is concerning, considering I'm majoring n English...

Oooh, that puzzle box. I remember coming to these boards looking for help on that one too. Those were the days.

I don't think I've asked a single question about the gameplay since Oblivion came out. I mean, not that I haven't had some, it's just that UESP has filled my "where/how/what the heck is ..." needs. For these boards, I generally just complain, make suggestions, and laugh to myself at everyone :P

That's basically what I've come to do. I exclusively posted in the Fallout board until a while back, since then I mostly lurk the CD. It's always the same threads, topics, fan base splits and trolling going on there. In CD the atmosphere is relatively....familiar. When you're new to CD you're sort of given a funny look, but then it's like Cheers, everybody knows your name. (Especially Evil Fish, he's got his own bar stool here in the CD pub.)

Same. I originally posted only in the Morrowind section, and then moved to the Oblivion section when it was released. I really only ventured over to CD after a year or so, and at first it was only to join the RP's (which used to be allowed in CD). Admittedly I don't post much (especially not in the last year), but even when I do it's only in CD. Like the OP is saying, the atmosphere here is just so much calmer.

It's highly monitored. Keep your mouth shut... or you'll disappear just like the others.

A little bit of both. I wish we could post images, for instance. If anyone violates the rules with an image, the mods could just ban the IP address. Problem solved.

But that's not happening.

Etc.

This would be soo much more believable if we didn't know you owned a .308 scoped hunting rifle, that you routinely take along whilst berry picking... :whistling:

don't get me wrong though, I'm from the Teddy Roosevelt school of hard knocks that taught speak softy and carry a big, scoped, large bore rifle.. preferably with Hesh(*) rounds

That is correct and part of the forum rules you agreed to when you joined, you are taking the post out of context.

As stated earlier in this thread, we don't discuss member accounts in public, so please don't post threads or make posts about your warning levels and such. If you still have questions regarding warnings, bans, or the warning icon please contact an administrator or moderator and we'll do our best to answer your questions.

9. Posting about moderator or administrator action or inaction is also against the rules of this forum.

The reason is simple, we take the privacy of all our members seriously and if actions have to be taken it is only between the member and the moderators/admin.

Of course, if my fun poking were ever to berate your overall sense of authoritative stature with the other members here on the boards..

..then that's just too bad, innit? :P

Ooh.. is that a spaceplane to another planet in a far, distant galaxy with my name on it? :bolt:
