Compensation Due

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 2:15 am

http://www.bbb.org/us/consumers/ click the "I want to box" then "file complaint".
According to http://www.dc.bbb.org/report.html?national=y&compid=3729 they already have a F rating with the BBB.

I wonder if they even care about getting an F rating from the BBB.

FYI, the reason software has bugs is not because the company only cares about money, but because the consumer does. You don't want bug-free software. You think you do, but you don't. You most likely wouldn't buy it. Could F:NV have fewer bugs on release? Sure! Spend another year in development testing and raise the cost of developing it and the final price. Would you pay $249.99 for F:NV with fewer bugs? I highly doubt it. Testing takes time and money. Features take time and money. It as nothing to do with laziness, incompetence, negligence, or any other such nonsense.

I write software for a living (unfortunately, not games). The quality of the softwar product is directly proportinal to the time and money invested in it, which are directly proprotional to the final cost to our client. Like all things in life, you get what you pay for. I have logged over 70 hours of game time with F:NV; I have definitely received what I paid for and more.

Amen. THEY ARE FIXING THE GAME. Be patient. Whining and posting a new complaint every day here on the forum does not make the fix arrive any faster. And I doubt that any company on the BBB has a great rating. Were any of you ever so satisfied with a game that you went to the BBB and gave a company a good rating? No. Huge sense of entitlement.

your one of the lucky ones then..a lot of ppl and i mean a lot cant even play their game, the game they paid good money for in good faith, much less get 70 hours out of it..and i guarantee you if you had had multiple gamebreaking glitches like a lot of ppl have you wouldnt be so "very satisfied"..

Some free DLC would go some way towards addressing the feeling that I've been well and truly screwed by this game.

Ah next time I'll just wait a few months before buying a game. No more mad rush on opening day :nope: My copy is sitting quietly on the shelf until the final patch comes out.

the average cost of developing a multi-platform game (as of 2009) was under $30 million. bethesda says they sold 5 million copies of F:NV already, and at $60/each that would add up to $300 million. i'll agree that fallout is a much bigger title than most - and even if we assume that it costs 5 times as much to develop as an average multi-platform game, that still leaves them $150million in profit. i don't think more testing would have driven the price up to $250.

I paid the same 60.00 for Halo reach....and now for COD:BO......tons of hours invested in halo and soon to be COD without anywhere near the same headaches. I now have over 100 Hours in FO:NV...still have half of the game to discover and quests to complete......and have enjoyed almost every minute of it....but I should not have to avoid certain areas or work around certain issues or restart from previous saves every other day I play the game.

ESPECIALLY when they used the same Fallout 3 Engine to make this version. Its not like they had to start from a clean slate and develop NEW programming to create a new game. The core was already there in regards to development money. There is no excuse for the issues this game has....not when the blueprint for excellence was already there from the previous Fallout.

That, quite frankly, is one of the most conceited, arrogant replies from an alleged 'programmer' that I have ever had the misfortune to read.

You are (especially given your title), definitely NOT someone I would either hire contractually or have on my development team. I suggest you go back to your original course notes and re-read the chapter on re-use. There are thousands upon thousands of code libraries that stand both independently and within companies databanks to enable you as a programmer to get better than your predecessors by figuratively 'standing upon their shoulders'. That is on top of the talent you should already have.

Especially given your second paragraph - the arrogance. Good God . . seriously . . go look at a text book . . or something. That statement alone is but a paltry excuse, never mind putting back the cause of I.T. some 10 or 20 years. You sound like a used car salesman . .

AND . . even if you could by some small token somehow embrace what you have said as having anything but a smidgeon of truth in it, you cannot reconcile that with the turnover (at present) of said game as (according to their offical site) grossing OVER 300 MILLION (without the potential of DLC).

300. MILLION.

I suggest you stick to your HTML.

Certain people think they shouldn't have to pay for DLC, regardless of the circumstances. If not for the bugs, someone would have thought up some other justification for what basically boils down to "give me free stuff."

So wait, you HAVE to complain when somethings wrong with the game, this takes effort and you deserve compensation...? That SEEMS to be the logic here.

Fallout 3 wasn't at all this buggy. Not even close, bubba. I put in a good 80 hours or so into Fo3 too, and never saw as many bugs and crashes/freezes. Fallout 3 only crashed like maybe 1 time in my 80 hour tenure.

This. I don't know how it was on PC but on the PS3 I put 100+ hours each into Oblivion GOTY Edition and FO3 with no freezes at all. The games ran smooth as butter. FO3 froze a couple times after I downloaded Broken Steel so I didn't buy any of their DLC after that. If all my experiences with Bethesda were like NV I wouldn't have bought a Bethesda game again.

Um the other guy is right... hate to say it but the vast majority of people have not seen fit to make long drawn out complaint threads, hence why we arent swamped with 300 Mill complaint threads, just a good bit of annoying ones.

Plus, they've already confirmed DLC, but with the ominous statement "later down the line"

I cannot understand this bizarre excuse making. Seriously. A customer SHOULD have a sense of entitlement. I paid for a product that is supposed to work out of the box. You wouldn't apply that ridiculous logic to any other product on the market nor any other game. We've paid to be their Q&A team.

And secondly, there are literally thousands of companies that have the BBB's Seal of Approval, including my own. Do a little research.

the only bug that affected me in FO3 was the colin moriarty disapearing bug

Frozen in place

Game crashing my xbox

DLCs having to be re-downloaded CONSTANTLY (on satellite internet that only gives a 256 MB per day allowance, this is a HUGE problem)

Graphics melting

The ominous black triangle that gets right in the line of vision.

Just to name a few from Fo3

Then by your logic, the full game isnt out yet, and when it is, since we paid to test it, we get the full game for free.

There is your reward. :flamethrower:

I strongly and highly suggest that we be given a discount on the DLC to be released (and by we, I mean the customers who bought your game pre-patch-to-be-in-a-week-or-two) or just let us have it for free.

This sense of entitlement pisses me off to hell. You were the one who choose to play this game for goodness sake! You were not forced to play the game!

And, your comment that 3/4 of the players have gamebreaking bugs is false. Actually, its the other way around. 3/4 of the players have very little if any bugs.

Ding ding!

He's ABSOLUTELY right.

I'd need hard proof of anything otherwise, besides some no name (at least in the world of gaming) BBB.

Just post your bugs in the issues forums. I'm surprised the complaint threads are still going on; they're just flooding the place. The easier they can find the bugs we post the quicker we can have our patch.

Oh, please. This is ridiculous. They are using the same engine they've used for twelve friggin' years. And this game didn't come close to the money most top tier games cost to make. GTA4 cost $100 million to make. MSG4 was $60 Million, Grand Turismo 5 at this point is $80 Million, KZ2 was $40 Million, LA Noire is at $50 million at this point, God of War 3 was $44 million. Did any of these games charge extra because of their budgets. Of course not.
