Compensation Due

What game developers still don't realise is though that if they would show that they care and be all awesome with us, they would actually make tons more money. Look at blizzard and dice, both have shown to really care for a great community and both are rolling in money right now. Not saying that bethesda isn't but still they could be.

And yes I know new vegas was made by obsidian but bethesda still funded and led the whole thing.

Nah, just had a little rush there. It just makes me mad that people expect things for free...sigh.

What the [censored]? Who expects things for free? People expect to get what they've paid for.

I really don't understand how people don't get this.

Curious overall view on your behalf. Would you have felt the same way if your PlayStation had a faulty disc drive that caused you to scratch your game CDs on a regular basis or for your joysick control pad to break on a constant basis? Would you feel annoyed if someone told you just don't use your control pad and that after buying your PS you basically have little or no rights to having it repaired or are you sufficently independently wealthy not to have to worry about such trivialities? Many others don't I'm afraid and for some it may have meant months of hard saving from a paper round or mind-numbing burger flipping (just an example - don't flame - we've all been Mc[censored]s at some stage) to get this game. You may not be affected but that doesn't mean that others who have been do not have a cause to complain.

You rationale is a little . . curious.

Why this answer to the problem?
Heres the thing, I love this game, but does that mean I have to love the bugs and glitches that come with it?, sheesh, it aint a case of not liking a game, but until you have purchased it, pulled it out of the box, placed it in the DVD tray, installed and played it, you have no idea of any problems!

I love the fallout series, that does not mean I have to love the bugs!

Having said that, I'm not after freebies, in fact I would rather them put the resource to cleaning up the game.

Rdr had a fraction of a fraction of issues compared to this and r* gave out their first dlc free and had it patched to perfection within a month. Not to mention rdr's graphics and game play mechanics make both next gen fallout games look like ps2/xbox games + it has a working open world online mode to boot.

This is why Bethesda/Oblivion cannot get the publicity like the top notch companies now. They have little to no community support/interaction and release buggy/unfinished games.

3/4th of the community is not necessarily 3/4 of the people that bought the game. People with no issues don't generally come here to say they have no issues, so it seems like a majority is having issues. Go back to any release of any large blockbuster game, you'll see just as many "I CAN'T GET GAME TO WORK THIS SUX I WANT MONEY BACK!" threads....

This is why I try....no matter how badly i want a particular game...no matter how bad that sixty bucks is burning a hole in my pocket....to have patience. I learned a long long time ago that most (not all) gaming companies release bugified crap on day one and expect people to wait for them to clean up the mess when it's convenient for them to do so. This used to be more true on pc than console releases as hard drives as standard on a console were not heard of back in the day. So, I follow these rules.....1. I never buy a game until at the very least I read multiple reviews. Usually if there are a ton of bugs, those reviews will mention it. 2. For the fun factor of any game, I go to the forums. I don't trust the reviewers opinion on a game. I do however go by ear of what other people have to say about the game......a million gamers that love the game are more reliable than one reviewer that might hate the game. And if I'm still confused and want to form my own opinion on it...I take the gamble and buy the game.....but I bide my time and wait until it has printed on the box one of two magical things.....a. Greatest Hits..or b.Pre-owned...that way I don't have to gamble sixty bucks on somthing I'm not totally sure about. Never ever ever ever do I go and grab a game on day one. That is why I'm proud to say...I don't won Fallout New Vegas yet. Not until I hear about how they have fixed all or most of the fun killing bugs. The moral of the story is this....do your homework and you won't get stuck with a Lemon....most of the time. and if you do at least it will be for a bargain bin price.

wait what?

Bethesda is top notch by the way. I would consider them one of the most recognised western RPG companies.

No community support/interaction? you sir are just wrong. Plain and simple. Are they not fixing the problems? Companies do want to take your money and run, they want people to buy more of their games afterwards. So of course they care.

Admittly the game has its bugs. Severity varing from person to person. (and gaming journalists blowing it out of proportion)

Also as a side point RDR may have its great graphics but after you finshed you are just left with some pretty open spaces with nothing do in them.

Hello, all.

I have been reading through all of the posts that have been made the past week and long before that, even. It seems that more than 3/4 of the community are upset with the broken, untested FO:NV that was released a few weeks back. With all of the bugs, crashes and freezes, I feel that we, the customers, have been royally screwed. Me, personally? Well, maybe not royally. But add me with thousands of others, and you got a big problem. Fixing the bugs in this game with the next patch due to be released in the upcoming weeks will not simply redeem the mistakes Obsidian made. We, the customers, need to be compensated for paying 60 dollars for a broken game and then basically reporting to you all of the bugs for you to fix. Seems like you guys got the better end of the bargain on that one, eh?

I strongly and highly suggest that we be given a discount on the DLC to be released (and by we, I mean the customers who bought your game pre-patch-to-be-in-a-week-or-two) or just let us have it for free. Up to you, but it would be in your best interests if you want to stay competitive and create large revenues. Show the community that you are SORRY, and that you CARE.

The patch is your compensation. You don't deserve any other compensation. If Obsidian/Bethesda wanted to give a discount on DLC or whatever, that'd be good PR, but there is no legal nor moral obligation for them to compensate you in any fashion beyond patching the game.

The sixty (fifty if you buy on the PC) bucks you spent gets you the game. It doesn't entitle you to anything else, any more than a movie being bad entitles you to getting your money back. Which it doesn't.

You people, all of you who make posts like this, need to grow up and start making productive posts. Bug reports and the like. Not crying about how the game is buggy so you're entitled to more than you paid for just for the inconvenience.

^This^

I got it on the release date for 360 and have been playing it every other day after work and besides some extremely minor and occasionally amusing bugs it works great.

Oh and i don't have live so i haven't gotten any patches or DLC things.

Edit: Just take it like a man, quietly and in the corner.

i dont know who you guys are to think that you can make such a large and detailed world without bugs. Almost anygames that are large sandbox games are going to have problems. Oblivion had them morrowing had them, f3 had them. THe devs are working on a patch and have already released 2 patches and a quick fix. the devs are hard working and all you guys are whining because the game is not perfect at the time of release.

This thread has run its course and no productive conversation is coming out of it, just sniping.

If you are experiencing issues with the game, check out the respective hardware sections for your platform, the pinned thread and keep checking for news on the patch that the Community Manager has told us about.

In after the lock. :D

Maybe you guys are right. Perhaps they should have held the game back and spent more time on Q&A...released it in, oh, mid 2011 or early 2012. I'm sure y'all would have been real happy with that.
