Darn! MY NEW HORSE!

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 9:10 pm

Freakin typical.
Buy a new horse to climb mountains with. Lasts about 5 minutes. Halfway up a cliff-face, a dragon just appears out of nowhere on top of me and blasts cold death down on my horse and I..... and because I'm halfway up a freaking cliff, I can't do anything about it. On the second blast my horse collapses dead underneath me and I fall onto Meridia's shrine... triggering her to start ranting about undead things.... and I really really don't care because I just bought that horse and then a freakin dragon came along and just killed it for the lulz. -.-;

Screw you dragon.

And my previous horse was killed because an entire castle full of necromancers and frost-mages all decided to pick a fight with it at once. All of them... ignoring me... to attack my horse.

What do I have to do to keep a horse alive in Skyrim? ;_;

... I'm not mean to animals..... really... well... 'cept bears and wolves and rats and sabre-tiggies and venisons. Not horsies though. I'm nice to horsies.

I avoid the main quest entirely now as dragons are a complete nuisance to me.

Oh sure... laugh it up... until it is your horse that gets targeted by absolutely everything. Like the various wildlife, bandits and dragons of Skyrim all believe their number 1 threat, enemy and target is HORSES...

Like that poor merchant I saw over in the northeastern parts.... Bandits were ganging up on his horse while he was standing to one side trying futilely to stop them with his little iron dagger. I ran to the rescue, but I was too late to stop them killing the poor horse. Slaughtered them all... and then the merchant just starts walking away on foot. Probably same place I'd go: Back to the stables to get YET ANOTHER HORSE.

You're completely useless... ?_? ... Horses can climb mountains. They're all like "Screw you physics!" ... then just walk up a cliff-face. That is pretty much the best reason to have them.

Yes . . until a dragon strafes them . . .or a pack of wolves kills it . . . or a bear . . . or they run off to attack a mudcrab and you can't find it . . . . or bandits hit you 4 times before you can get off and fight . . . or . .well, you get the idea. :devil:

I'd LOL, but that's bout the reason I gave up on horses in Oblivion. I think I've ridden just one horse in...oh 550 plus hr's. I alway's drop an apple or carrot by loose horses, even if I know they don't eat them.

It wouldn't be half so bad if only they had more stamina.
Where the hell is the sense in my character being able to sprint flat-out for half an hour... but his horse can't manage 30 seconds without getting exhausted.
At full sprint, the horses CAN get away.... but they can't maintain full sprint for enough time for it to work... ;_;

Have you ever since the Skyrim-Horse Meme where the Dragonborn is riding on a Horse and walking up a mountain while it saying. "Physics? *****! I'm a Horse!"

Anyways. Since you mention Meridia's Shrine, have you ever fly up high in the sky during that quest with a dragon chasing you? Quite funny XD. Only time in the whole game I got ran over by a dragon.

I've seen the picture when I saw it I laughed so hard almost convinced me to get a horse so I could climb some mountains. Can you use a horse to climb to High Hrothgar without climbing the 7000?

Sometimes a horse can be a great distraction if your about to get mauled by an angry mob of enemy’s. Aside from that yes they are quite useless I took mine right off a steep cliff and used the horse to break my fall which saved my life and ended the horses life….. so thx horse lol

The game does some downright weird things sometimes. And I suppose not all of them are inherently spiteful.

A bit off topic but is it a way to improve how steep slopes you can climb?
It makes little sense that an horse is better at climbing than humans with hands.

Had been smarter to switch the max climbing angle and give the horse nearly unlimited stamina to compensate.

No need for the attitude and yes I can climb cliffs and mountains without a frikkin horse. Just takes a bit of jumping and moving your way up the sides and finding the nitches to get where you are going, it is called patience.....something most players don't have anymore I guess. Oh and yes horses in this game are completely useless. Because they have too low of HP and die off fast over non sense.

Wrong. If it werent for my horse, i wouldn't be able to run away from bears and cats who would otherwise kill me. Playing without fast-travel, they also enable me to travel faster. As mentioned they give the finger to gravity :)

On my PC version I use the better horses mod which allows you an option to either beef their health up or make them essential.

On the 360, I don't use horses.

I only use a horse when I plan to ride without stopping from point A to point B. It's too risky to get off of them any where near an enemy because the stupid things always charge in and get themselves killed. If I need to stop I make sure no enemies are around and park the horse in the safest possible spot.

And if you're going to go mountain climbing on one there is always a high risk of ending up dead. Save before you start out.

I'm just impressed that you had a horse that could climb cliffs I bet it looked a bit odd with all the climbing gear on. TBH much like followers they just get in the way I killed my last one after three minuets of ownership when it got in the way of my greatsword fighting some random bandit.
