I wonder if it is at all possible to go the vampire route but not be evil..Like your character got infected with vamparism and didn't cure it so you go there to be around other vampires but have no desire to kill everyone.

things I like about Dawnguard:
the Darth Vader Grip, if it adds "choke" animations I'll be pretty happy :P
The fact that we can hover as a vampire.
Bat "dodge" or whatever, hope Npcs can use it as well

Things I possibly want
good old sun damage. please. no more sparkly vampire thing, make us WANT to blot out the sun (and fix lunar damage as well)
moddable vampire perk tree
much more powerful dragons
revamped shout system, dammit. more power and more usability!

Stuff I want in the next expansion packs
-become a lich
-become a DRAGON!

I don't know if it was mentioned in the video, but if you have Lycanthropy, you have 100% resistance to disease, so you can't become a vampire.

As vampires also have 100% resistance to disease, it is not possible to become both at the same time.
I was under the impression that they gave 100% resistance to each other, but had no (or lesser) effect on the more common diseases, e.g. a werewolf can get rockjoint. The Wikia says the guide is wrong, no resistance to common diseases, UESP says you can still catch other diseases from traps.

I think you can ONLY catch diseases from traps when you're a werewolf or vampire. Because I stopped getting rockjoint from all the wolves I was fist fighting as a vampire, but I'd still occasionally get it from spike traps.
And my werewolf hasn't caught brain rot off any hagravens in a while

Guys, vsions just dropped another hint. In the current thread on vampire gender differences he said that we might be getting different transformations based on gender.

Not a feature I was hoping for but still cool.

one other thing I'm pleased they did: dialogue gestures. if, with a patch, they could apply one to all of Skyrim's dialogue, or at least important one (Mages/Main/Companion quest).

and I'm very curious about crying children. maybe when you appear to them as a Vampire lord/werewolf?

I believe that silver weapons do harm werewolves on the same level as harming undead, which is around 20 points of extra damage.

(If anyone knows) Will you have to become a Vampire in the main game to become the Vampire Lord?

Serious newb question warning: will we be starting with a new character for this DLC or will it be a continuation of any of the characters you currently have?

I'm pretty sure it's the latter, but I just seek confirmation. I have over 200 hours on a stealth/magic elf who's too powerful (level 76), and I've been hesitant on starting a new build mostly due to the amount of time it takes up. My char is just too powerful, though, made the hardest difficulty too easy and I think I'd like to make a new one, especially for Dawnguard. I'd appreciate any confirmation. TIA.

Yes to werewolves, but it's not 20 extra, the base damage is increased to 20.

They already told us. You hear a rumor upon entering a town past level 10.

So either courier will bring you an invitation or you will hear guards talking about a new faction of vampire hunters.

I hope you have to come across it randomly, or a courier arrives after certain deeds and renown. I hated the Oblivion and Fallout 3 and NV takes on this, "oh look, a will left in your pocket that the jailers never noticed" and "you receive a load of broadcasts the second you leave the vault".

Edit: ah, well, missed that bit. Still seems a bit artificial, you could get 10 levels in the wilderness, then get the rumour the first time you enter a town.

From the IGN article it says that you overhear guards talking about the Dawnguard (I guess at level 10, but I don't know if thats confirmed), then based on some stuff Todd said you go there (the Dawnguard castle) first and then find out about the Vampires from them.

I don't see why it would be any more artificial than anything else you overhear from guards. The guards will often point you to rumors of interesting locations in the game already - this would just be another thing you could hear from them. It would only be active after you get a certain level, but its not like when you hit level 10 you're getting a big announcement or anything. I was actually quite happy when Todd Howard said that you would have to learn about it and find it - you don't automatically get informed of the new content as in Fallout 3; someone has to tell you about it or you stumble upon it yourself.

I see your point, but if you didn't hear until you had either undertaken a mission that involved vampires, or contracted sanguinare vampiris and been seen in a town, would make more sense, to me anyway.

so its been stated that the vampire castle will be north-west of solitude and by the look of the dawnguard area that castle will be situated around riften. Does this mean we will have to walk back and forth to kill vampires/dawnguard :(
