Definitive ending to New Vegas poll.

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 12:13 pm

I don't see how anyone can say whether it's a good or bad thing until they've played the game.

It might be a really good ending, and if you want to keep going you can re-load the epilogue save and keep going or start a new character. Sorry, I have no sympathy for people that insist on having things a specific way and refuse to see the perfectly viable alternatives. Not trying to be mean or anything, but the purple popsicle is still tasty. I know you wanted the red one, but is it really worth all this?

I currently have the collectors edition on New Vegas pre-ordered and if they dont change this decision soon then I am considering just skipping this Fallout all together and waiting for the next true Fallout from Bethesda themselves.

Heh. Bethesda: making the only true Fallout games since they invented Fallout. *salute*

Wow dude. Did you not read the part that the game does an autosave before you get to the "point of no return" so you can keep exploring? Also, next "true" Fallout? I don't even feel like pointing out how many things are wrong about that statement. The ending, by the way, will be much better, because it tells you the consequences of your major actions and the fate of specific characters, factions, and places. It's not the lame ending from Fallout 3. It's really not that much of an issue. If you actually base how good the game is by this insignificant little detail, enough to not even buy it, then you don't really deserve such a awesome game in the first place.

Umm.. bro.. video games are about who "deserves" them? That's just laughable and well, stupid.

And your totally awesome ending that you haven't even played yet? I don't care about it.

I want to keep playing the game after the ending... not "load up an old save". That just sounds generic.

Lastly.. yes, the next true Fallout. You know.. Fallout 4? In an interview with the developers of New Vegas they were asked why call it New Vegas and not Fallout 4? The developers said because while New Vegas takes place in the Fallout universe it is not a true sequel to Fallout and they said to think of it more as a GTA: Vice City or San Andreas. While those games were great GTA games... they were not GTA IV and that is what I meant by that comment. So disagree all you want.. those are the facts.

Regardless of all that I just signed up here to voice my opinion on the decision to end this game abruptly and I have done that. I don't need a bunch of [censored] to tell me the ending is going to be the best thing since sliced bread. Contrary to popular belief... A game can have an AWESOME ending and still leave the game open after the end for side missions... Mass Effect 2 comes to mind as a game that pulled this off flawlessly. So it CAN be done.

If, by "flawlessly," you mean, "left a ton of inconsistencies and things that made no sense after the endgame" then I agree with you 100%. :P

If the ending changes things it might be a ton of work to change the game world to reflect those changes. Mass Effect 2 doesn't deal with this. There weren't many game world variables to deal with in that game in the first place, but still, they chose to simply not deal with it at all. In a game like Fallout 3 or NV I'd personally rather have the game end than continue in a world with no continuity with the ending of the game.

Seriously, just don't complete the endgame until you're ready for the game to end. Why is that such a deal-breaker?

I loved Mass Effect 2. If you handled the ending of a Fallout game the way they did, though, I wouldn't be happy about it.

I guess I don't judge a game based solely on the way the ending is handled. I think that's a tad silly, personally, but that's me.

We all know that Fallout fans] and anything bioware related fans hate each other like crazy and fire cheap criticism.

For example Bioware fanatics will go "haha obsidian cant make unbuggy games!"

There's also such thing as liking something but still being able to recognize how it could have been made better. I think it's all part of this new "objectivity" thingy I keep hearing about. I know...sounds crazy...

:P

For the record, I've never played a Bioware game I didn't like, and I've been playing them since Baldur's Gate was released.

I meant abruptly like its just over and thats it. I put like 180 hours into Fallout 3 and was hoping to do the same with New Vegas.. but as I stands I guess that would be maybe 20 hours for the main storyline.. then I load an old save and play for another XX amount of hours only to play thru the ending and beat the game again.. and for what? It just seems like something pointless that could have been avoided very easily on the development side. This "we're doing it to make a better ending" card they are playing just reeks of [censored] to me. I'm just stating my opinion. I didn't need a chorus of Fallout lovers to turn this into a quarrel. It's just my opinion. Breath in and out. Everything will be OK. I never said New Vegas was going to be the worst game ever or some nonsense. I just said I don't agree with this design decision. That's all.

Haha. You are probably right about that bro. But I'm not having a love affair with either of those developers. Infact.. I'm not that fond of Bioware anymore since they sold their soul to EA. ME2 was still an awesome game thou.

You have the right to state your opinion just as much as any other member on this forum
but you have to understand that simply stating an opinion can be offensive to some people if not stated

I personally am not berating you for your opinion. I'm simply pointing out that you're not looking at all facets of the situation. I also don't think you're fully reading and understanding other peoples' posts.

Anyway, you don't have to play through twice to see everything. Also consider that they might want to have the game world actually reflect continuity with the game's ending. Depending on the ending this could be a LOT of work to create. Have you considered that the ending might change quite a few things? Perhaps they'll release a DLC or expansion later that reflects these changes, and they just didn't have time to get them into the initial release of the game. Who knows? Pointless to argue about it until we see it for ourselves.

In a forum for discussion you're bound to find disagreement. Who's quarreling, btw? Isn't this still merely a discussion?

I'm still confused, what is there in finishing the MQ before continuing your playing that is so hard to overcome by just not finishing the game before you want to? If you don't care about the ending, it shouldn't be an issue to avoid it, no? Care to elaborate on that? Or is it only "Because I just wanna!"?

Are you saying that you only had 1 char in FO3? Well most RPG's aren't like that. RPG's are meant to be played over and over, and I don't see how you can log 180 hour on a character and be done with a game that has a lot of replayability value.

mega snip

I, personally, believe that somebody who judges a game based on something that is not much of a real problem doesn't really deserve it at all. Do I think anything like that should be enforced? No, of course not... but it doesn't stop me from voicing how I feel.

Also, the developers have said that the ending will give the effects, not telling you the obvious. In my book, it automatically exceeds the FO3 ending because of that.

I won't pretend that I understand your opinion at all, but whatever. It's your choice. And it will likely end up being your loss.

I understand what you are saying, but I liked the evil character that I already had in Fallout 3.. I didn't want to be a good guy. Also, I looted and collected countless items, weapons, and clothing. After I had done it once... I did not feel enticed at all to do it again. I felt like there was too much awesome stuff to explore in Fallout 3 and that there was too many great things ahead of me to go backwards and redo things again. Not to mention with work, family and just real life in general -- I felt lucky to have logged 180 hours in Fallout 3. Lol.
