I'm of the opinion that the Dragons are actually really well done. Yes, they are predictable, and if you powergame, they're a pretty big joke, even on the highest difficulty, but that's fine. I still find myself just enjoying seeing them on screen, they look so good, and move so well (Most of the time).

One point of interest though, Dragons are actually very infrequent encounters for me, I'm not exactly sure why, but I can go hours upon hours of game time without ever seeing one. If i'm not actively seeking one out, my rate is about one every six hours. My friends however, see them at every turn, I think one of them has killed 29 outside the College of Winterhold alone. The only exotica about my games that I can say, is that I've never fast traveled outside of extremely infrequent occurences, such as bug checking or just going on wholesale slaughter with no intent to save. Maybe they're on a timer based on the actual days in the game.

I'd certainly welcome harder dragons though. They need more attacks that are faster, but less powerful. For the most part (On Master Difficulty) a Dragon of equal or greater level has the ability to kill you in one or two attacks, however those attacks are very easy to avoid. All breath attacks can be negated by a ward, and it's slow chomp attack from the front can be dodged fairly easily. They needed some weaker, but quicker attacks, simlar to the wing swipes, in order to bring themselves to a level that poses some risk. A few AI tweaks, such as the dragon using it's breath attack while walking backwards (Which they already do in some cases) could also help.

Dragons should be able to use more than 1 shout like disarm, marked for death, become ethereal, etc.

I played the game in "the way it's meant to be played" once, at least 7 archers helped me fighting it. Took at least 15 minutes to actually bring him down, another minute to kill 'im. If I make 'em any harder perhaps it'd be like DMC4's Bloody Palace

Try taking on an ancient dragon with base armor and a base weapon(no smithing & no enchanting) on master.

I love them(except for the flying animations...they could be better)
But i have to admit they can be a pain in the a$§.Sometimes they spawn out of nowhere and start attacking you while you in the middle of a conversation or seomthing else. They can be a pest sometimes, yes.

I assume Marked for Death is still broken though, giving anyone hit a permanent negative armor rating. If it worked like it sounds like it should work (Weakens armor by the listed value down to, but not below 0), that'd make a lot of sense. Hell, Alduin says "Krii" just about every time he calls one of his dragons from the ground.

Become Ethereal is another shout I definitely think they should be able to use. Much like Bandits and other humanoid enemies have the ability to block and bash your attacks fairly intelligently, a Dragon Encounter would be much more thrilling if they would use Become Ethereal when a player attempts a power attack, or strings together a few good hits.

Disarm on the other hand, is just frustrating. I don't mind dropping the weapon and going to a backup, I mind spending 25minutes looking for the weapon I lost, only to reload because it got blown three miles away by a fireball or something.

Easy. Lesser Ward and just enough HP so that it doesn't break into an "Instant Kill" animation that you can't stop. Hell, it'd be possible with just 1hp, but since the game calculates a finisher before evasion, you're kind of screwed.

God...with Deadly Dragons...I die from one continuous stream of a breath attack. It's so difficult. Or maybe it's because my armor's not good?

worst thing about dragons is getting over encumbered with all those sacles and bones your trying to save but will probably never use.

They are supposed to be a nuisance! They are evil and want to take over the world!!

Seriously, I wish once you finish the MQ, they would be gone...

I agree. They were fine when doing the main quest but now I'm done with the main quest and I want them gone.

They are no where's NEAR the annoyance that the Oblivion gates were, I only closed the minimum because they were boring as hell. However, the dragons are really getting on my nerve since I'm done with the main quest yet they are still terrorizing the countryside.

Did the creators intend dragons to be nuisances/pests in the skyrim world?

Yes. You are just a glorified, armored Orkin man.

I dunno about this dragon spam thing. On my latest character I've hardly seen any dragons for about 25 levels. In effect this means I have more words than souls. I can travel for hours in the countryside without seeing one. Maybe they "fixed" something in the latest patch?

They actually made some little fixes around at the latest patches.
