Disturbing Habits

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 1:23 pm

Also annoying is the fact that I am always told to turn my music down in public, fine imo it shouldnt bother others...Yet no one says anything about girls playing justin [censored] bieber on the bus.

Gotta say, I'm with whoever tells whoever to turn whatever down in public. I don't wanna listen to some punk's techno/hip hop/rap/RnB whatever crap from his/her phone at any time of the day. S'why some clever dude designed earphones, and some cleverer dude made them comfortable, while yet a clevererer dude made them durable enough to strangle some punk playing punk music from his i-phone... uh... with.

I think it's a good thing in most cases. Not to bring politics in here, but there are some absurd and irrational laws in the US. People are just expressing their disapproval of mandates forced upon us.

No its bad in most, when people start breaking laws and harming other because they know there is no consequence or that it is minor and wont realy effect them, its bad because you have gangs beating people to death on their doorstep because they dont fear any punishment. If strict and/or stupid laws are needed to stop this then im all for it.

Unless your using apple headphones, damn cheap peices of crap that break way to often.

Which is why I didn't say in all cases. People breaking laws that hurt people are idiots and jerks. People that break laws that only effect themselves are justified.

A lot of the popular kids think it's cool to get bad grades, get in trouble a lot, do drugs, drink alcohol, and a bunch of other bad things. Pisses me off.

-The appaling increase in teen pregnancy.
-The "school is for fools" mentality.
-General disrespect for elders and the perversion of our children.
-The rise of general apathy.

Unfortunately these things do affect everybody, someone doesn't fear getting in trouble for doing drugs, they lose fear of the police, then they rob/murder/who knows what. I also hate with a passion the kind of attitude in the quoted post that so many people have adopted.
First of all, slippery slope much? Just because someone is a drug user doesn't mean they are going to go out and rob / murder someone else.

1. People have been doing drugs forever.
2. People who do drugs don't necessarily lose fear of the police. That's a major assumption on your part.
3. Going from drug user to robbery / murder is a big leap, both of logic and of ethics. To apparently correlate drug user with robber / murderer is rather outlandish, unless you have some statistics to back up your claim.
4. You can hate my position all you want. It won't change it. Plus I was joking and commenting more about the people who were talking about 2 liter soda bottles and wearing odd clothing in cold weather and how that pissed them off / was a "bad habit."

Well, recently, I've noticed the habit, or rather, trend of lately coming to great popularity in my school: 2 liter soda bottles. And it isn't to share. Its for one person. They'll drink it in one sitting. Or carry it around... It's disgusting, and unhealthy. And ever since Coca-Cola has redesigned its bottle to be a giant version of its smaller serving, it is even easier for them to carry around. Please. It is Disturbing.

Anyone else noticed any disturbing trends or habits? Keisha fans playing her music on the bus for example...

2 liter bottles are more cost efficient. I can get a 2 liter bottle of my favorite brand of root beer from the supermarket for $1.19, but if I bought a 20 ounce bottle from 7-Eleven or a vending machine I would pay $1 or even more.

Being casually judgmental and/or plain hateful toward things that people do which have no impact on anyone else's life and of which the person is almost guaranteed to have a parallel behavior. Hardly a recent thing, but certainly a trend as it never goes away.

:goodjob: What's more, there's a lot of it on display in this thread. Easy to be casually judgmental on a forum; there's no consequence for it, and you're guaranteed somebody will jump on your bandwagon.

If there's a slippery slope, it's the one that runs from thinking somebody else's behavior is foolish or disgusting to thinking that person is contemptible or "there oughta be a law to keep people like that in line". That way lies bigotry.

Live and let live.

Agreed! I thankfully I haven't yet personally had to deal with it, but some of the real-life groups I happily belong to have to deal daily with the all-too-common feeling that behavior -> disgusting / immoral -> should be outlawed simply because the person finds it disgusting / immoral. I suppose that has made me a little "jumpy" in regards to these type of threads, however, and I apologize if I jumped down anyone's throat. :P

People who openly talk about it, and do it in public don't seem to fear being caught...

There are loads, people are more likely to commit a crime while under the influence than when they're not. Druggies mugging people isn't exactly uncommon. Not nearly as big a leap as you think.

Anyway, to stay on topic I'll say that I, like most, think it's odd that people still seem to believe getting bad grades is cool.

Live and let live.

That isn't how people work. People will always judge others, and try to justify it. Its a good lesson, sure, but most folks don't follow it. I don't follow it. My friends don't. most of the world doesn't.

Good call. I'll qualify my previous post in this thread with: I don't wanna hear some stand-up guy playing my all time favourite track on his i-phone in public. If somebody says turn it down/off, I'm with whoever said that. However, if a majority said turn it up and everybody started dancing... I'd uh... pinch myself.

A lot of the popular kids think it's cool to get bad grades, get in trouble a lot, do drugs, drink alcohol, and a bunch of other bad things. Pisses me off.

The wont think it's cool when they are flipping burger's and living in their parent's basemant's.

Bad habbit's I dont like are mainly people ignorant of those around them -- example include people playing music on their phone's on busses etc.

Another one is MCing. I was sat at a bus stop the other day with my girlfriend and a gang of 10+ 12-14 year old [censored]'s walk over and start playing music on their phones while giving me and my girlfriend dirty looks and evil eye, then half way through a song they have some kind of demented MC battle. I was highly amused when one of the turned around and said "What time do you have to be in?" and another said "My tea's ready at 8."

Smoker's -- I'm a smoker, but when I smoke I do it away from people, around a corner or down the path, especially at bus stop's and train stations. I refuse to be around other people when I smoke, unless they are also smoking, I think it's the height of ignorance to force other people to inhale the same toxic vapour's I choose to inhale, so it really grind's me when I see people lighting up regardless of those around them.

Music and cars dont mix -- I have a neighbour about 5 door's down from me, he has a vauxhaul Corsa, and you guessed it, a "Bangin" sound system. He drives up and down the road every day blasting out lord know's what, with the bass turned up so high he could help pregnant women induce early labour. I loath people who drive around with music and especially bass needlessly high.

Drug's -- People doing drug's in bar's/club's/on the street in gangs of people in plain view of others. I hate looking at people on drug's, it annoy's me and more often than not me and my friend's go elsewhere when we see people in a venue taking them. I really hate walking down the street and smelling the disgusting scent of Weed aswell.

Drinking cans/bottls and littering -- Leaving empty half filled can's every where, its vile. But littering with any can what so ever is absolutely disgusting, alcohol such as Larger/ale/bitter and soft drinks such as cola/fanta/sprite attract slug's -- the slugs go into the can's and litterally gorge themselves on the left over contents of the container, they die and decompose. Then, more slug's follow the now more pungent scent, they follow suit, die and decompose, more slug's follow, and so on and so on. Eventually your left with a thick black tar like liquid that stinks to the four corner's of the globe, I have never once in my life had the displeasure of smelling something so disgusting as the first time I encountered slug mulch. At the time I was working as a park ranger in a nature reserve -- we went on alot of clean up duties, so on that day in question me and my friend must have encountered around 20~30 can's with slug mulch in it.

People not emptying the trash/bin -- I used to live on a really rough council estate in manchester a few year's back, I grew up there infact, and I remember every person living there took pride in their homes and gardens, we had a really strong community. A few years later after alot of the good people moved away and drug dealers and what not started moving up there, it fell to the all mighty onslaught of bone idleness. I walked past the house I lived in as a child last week. The back garden was full of empty wine and beer bottles and a few split binliners full of rotting rubbish.

I'm a mature person :D I'm actually also trying to quit, because it's one of the biggest thing's I hate about myself, smoking. But it's my only poison, I rarely drink and I eat very healthily and spend alot of the time exercising.

I forgot one bad habbit that is a predominently male habbit.

The drilling eye ball's -- Since I've been with my girlfriend, I've noticed it more than ever. We'll be walking down the street, and some guy's will have the gall to litterally stare at her, just stare, as if she was a piece or meat or a meal they wanted to eat and nothing more, and certainly not a person. What's more annoying about this demeaning habbit they have of learing at women is, more often than not, they're with a girlfriend of their own.

When people believe anything they hear on the news and take it for a fact. No, I'm not talking about conspiracies or anything, I'm talking about when people just absorb whatever the news tells them and base their judgments on that without doing any research for themselves. Take for example, Fox News. They consistently lie to their viewers, and often the things they say, if they are true, are extremely biased towards a certain political party. And the poor people who watch this think they're hearing facts. It's the same with MSNBC. CNN is the only news station that's usually neutral. It's absolutely disgusting and I wish Fox would just go away so American minds would stop being poisoned by their misinformation.
