Disturbing Habits

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:25 pm

Somebody is less mature than you because they enjoy a less "sophisticated" type of humor than yourself? I know people who make "your mum" jokes nonstop and adore family guy, who are as sensible, compassionate and "mature" as I've ever met.

Who is the more immature one? He who enjoys humor of a more crude variety, or he who judges the personality of others based on their taste in jokes?

I'll second that, I can be mature when I want to or when the situation calls for it, but when I don't have to, I see no reason why I can't have some fun.

I am an advlt who laughs at farts, and damn proud of it!

Well, recently, I've noticed the habit, or rather, trend of lately coming to great popularity in my school: 2 liter soda bottles. And it isn't to share. Its for one person. They'll drink it in one sitting. Or carry it around... It's disgusting, and unhealthy. And ever since Coca-Cola has redesigned its bottle to be a giant version of its smaller serving, it is even easier for them to carry around. Please. It is Disturbing.

Anyone else noticed any disturbing trends or habits? Keisha fans playing her music on the bus for example...

I've never had more than one standard can of coke in a day if any at all

Though I do have to say the schools are somewhat improving, at least in my area, and no longer sell coke, candy, or chips.

Ironically, they still sell a lot of frozen foods that are often hydrogenated, french fries, and Domino's Pizza. As far as healthy food alternatives I seen very little that would have been actually good (well other than the fruit anyway).

OK, I've had to edit out a few "rising tensions". Please be kind to each other, people.

I am also sick of people complaining when I say family guy isnt funny, please say that most mature people think family guy is unfunny ?

Family Guy season 1 was funny. Like almost all comedy shows, it lost its edge after a couple of years.

How judgemental people are. I don't know if this is a new thing, but it seems that everybody can't stop hating each other everywhere. Like Summer said, we're all living on this planet here.

What if you smelled a fuel leak in your house? Propane has a pretty distinct smell.

No it doesn't, they add that in.

People hating each other for some reason or other is as natural as gravity, and the concept has existed for as long as we have.

never stop. Ever.

That's what your mum said.

Erm: The smoking ban. I don't smoke, but you see, before the ban, there were smoking rooms were people would go. Now, they stand outside the building, so when you walk down the street, you have dozens of people blowing ash in your face, seemingly on purpose. Just so you know, that's assault, and one day I might put self defence into practice.

women who dress their children in a... slatternly manner (dodging the autocensor is tiresome). Your daughter is five. Dressing her in a boob tube and hotpants is giving out the wrong messsage. So is letting her sing lyrics that would make the Marquis de Sade blush, and so is giving your baby earrings.

That's a sad excuse that only propagates the hate. We all have powerful brains, it is our responsibility to use them and get over such petty things. Most people can't do this, yes, I know that. It is still a pitiful excuse to use.

Today, I was walking into town to get some Job app.s and I saw some cars passing. I was on a sidewalk next to a semi-major road for the area. Well, at one point, a pick-up is heading towards me, and I notice that it is full of kids from my high school. And one is CASUALLY leaning out of the window smoking a cigarette. and he doesn't even look like an advlt. I mean, he dresses, talks, and acts like a teen, so I assume that anywhere up the road, if there was a cop, they'd get pulled over. I hope that punk gets it. Openly smoking. The only issue is he probably wont get caught...

How could I have missed this.

I'd really like to go in depth here, but it's just really sad you think like that. I suppose you'd call 911 if you saw someone jay-walking, huh?

Thanks for mentioning that, it reminded me of a story.

Does it in any way affect you? No. Who cares if some guy is smoking. Bloody hell.

Anyway, I can't think of anything right now which 'disturbs me'.

How is drinking a 2 liter coke disgusting or disturbing? Unhealthy, maybe, but its not going to kill you. I bring a 2 liter coke around with me sometimes, and it isnt disgusting in any way. Its like drinking a normal coke, just bigger.

Something I have noticed is that all the underclassmen at my school are walking around with superman backpacks that are clearly designed for a kid and can barely hold one book. It makes me wanna backhand one of them.

I know that. Regardless it does have a distinct smell, and artificial or not you can smell a fuel leak in your house long before you would find it without a sense of smell.

"Disturbing" is pretty subjective, really. I don't find someone carrying a big soda around particularly "disturbing" as I interpret the word, but I do find it kind of ridiculous. :) But then I find a lot of things ridiculous. :P

I don't find anything 'disturbing'. I view a lot of things with amusemant but as long as they have no direct effect on me, I am certainly not going to get worked up about them as many of you seem to.

Trends I find most disturbing:

1. Music playing loud in the bus, (just had to mentions it)

2. Underage teens who, I don't know how, turns up at clubs for people over 18.

3. Teen girls who drees like 18. (whats wrong with yall?)

4. Also too many shortned words.

2. People who do drugs don't necessarily lose fear of the police. That's a major assumption on your part.

When I was younger and doing things that I shouldn't have been doing, I was much more afraid of the police than I am now that I am law abiding citizen. Getting a speeding ticket or going through a road block at night is much frightening when you're carrying than when you're not. There also seems to be a correlation between not doing drugs and being left alone by the cops. At least from my experiences there does anyways.

But back on topic: There are two "habits" that I personally find disturbing 1) people who chew tobacco. I'm not some holier than thou type, but seriously, its just gross. 2) teenage kids that all you see them doing is walking and texting. It seems to me there is going to be a whole generation of kids that their entire memories of their teenage years are going to be their thumbs and staring at a cell phone.

Neither of these "habits" affect me in the least, they just annoy me.

My husband has been drinking the two liter as a personal drink for the last twenty years. He is the only one in the house to drink soda. He puts it in the garage fridge, and no one else touches it. He doesn't have to dirty up a glass, it's more cost efficient, and he can chuck the empty plastic bottle in the recycle, instead of several smaller plastic bottles.

I go out in my pajamas when I drive my kids to school. Sometimes I stop at the store. I am clothed, don't see it as an issue. Now that I know it annoys people, I shall have to do it more often. I find it wasteful when people change clothes three or four times a day, becasue of some sense of fashion, rather than hygeine, creating more demands for energy, cleaning products, and water consumption.

I honestly don't give a rat's ass what other people's habits are, as long as it isn't forced on me.

Censorship. You'd think we were back in medieval times with the way people look at sixuality or nudity these days. Seriously, watching people beat each other to death is fine, but if someone sees as much as half a nipble then it's all "Oh noes, think of the children!" The same applies to language, if I listen to a rap song on the radio I'd like to hear more than 40% of the [censored] lyrics, either stop censoring music, or don't play it at all if it's so terrible with a few naughty words.

I'll give you a year and we'll be burning people on the stake again. :shakehead:
This one scares me, especially due to reasons of a nture I won't go into because of standing forum laws

I'm a bit disturbed by all the silly little reasons folks are disturbed by other folks.

I mean, we're all bozos on this bus after all.
Tickets please..
:D

At first I read the thread title and subtitle as "Disturbing rabbits that you have noticed growing these days." :-|

I suppose that would be my disturbing habit. Or rabbit.
That would be bugs bunny, the most disturbed wabbit ever he he he

I am an advlt who laughs at farts, and damn proud of it!
Dude, you should seriously consider starting your own bumper sticker company :D

Family Guy season 1 was funny. Like almost all comedy shows, it lost its edge after a couple of years.
Just saw the starwars episode.. I peed myself laughing :embarrass:

That's because you carry around that big ass ban hammer that scares everyone.. ergo, no ones diecting nothing at you buddy.. except the occasional suicidal hokerr.

18 year-olds going on 80, complaining about the "downfall" of society...
Makes me feel young again :D

disturbing trend of late:
I start reading a thread that's two pages long and it's five pages by the time I finally get to the end of it..
crap, now I feel old again..

there's something of a trend that I can only sum up as:

"Too much knowledge, not enough wisdom"

but I'm not about to explain myself just yet..

Well I drink 2 litre bottles of soda throughout a day sometimes and water

I find it disturbing that even at 17 people are still making your mother jokes and perverted immature jokes, I honestly feel like punching some people. Also annoying is the fact that I am always told to turn my music down in public, fine imo it shouldnt bother others...Yet no one says anything about girls playing justin [censored] bieber on the bus.

This! My classmates constantly taunt me about my accent and most conversations between them consist mostly of"Your mom's [censored]" (Or the Arabic equivalent). FFS people. What are you? 15? 16? why the hell do you act this way?
Or carry it around.
But what should i do whit it then? or do i have to buy 2 smaller bottles to carry around.. im confused :ahhh:
Another one that bothers me is seeing people in shorts and a Tshirt in the dead of winter. I kid you not, I saw a guy walk into a convenience store in shorts a Tshirt and a pair of sandals last month when we had 2'+ of snow on the ground. Where did you just come from? A goddamned idiot convention?
Thats normal around this part of the planet, i usually go pick up fire wood in shorts and t-shirt, its not that cold when you are used to it.
Heh still remember when we were in Tenerife whit my brother and hes gf, it was snowy day at the Mount Teide and we were hoppin around in shorts and the locals just gave us the wtf looks... thought we were nuts.. but then again we thought the same about them running around in winter jackets.
well their winter is like our summer, dont want to even think how hot it gets at summer time in there.

but back to annoying trends would say the under age in bars.. just experienced that last weekend.
Games still being bought that only last a few hours for full price...
DLCs.
That.

and pepole that uses 1 word 100 times in one sentece, words like<- :) "like", and the infamous "F" word (what translates into "V" word in here)
