DLC discs

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 10:34 pm

Game Informer once had an article about the switch to digital merchandise and how it would affect people still living in the stone age.

My only recommendation to you is get an internet connection.

Honestly I don't see why video game companies can't be nice and supply physical disc copies of DLC...but the sad truth is most DLC is virtua-only nowadays, and this is a growing trend.

Interesting, you say were still living in the stone age if you don't have a good enough internet. But what many don't know is were close to being back there again. The fact is an all digital age is not going to happen because of one issue. Where running out of bandwidth.

Now as far as Skyrim DLC and disk... it may happen eventually but probably not on release. Oblivion did it, Fallout 3 did it... but New Vegas only had the GOTY edition. But Skyrim sold a lot more than all of them, so BS would be dumb not to bring the DLC to disk. Contrary to popular belief, console users don't use digial downloading like Steam users. in fact there are over 20 million, yes 20 million consoles that are not even conected to the internet.

Exactly. Finally there is logic in this conversation. But don't forget that Obsidian made FONV not Beth. That may be why there weren't separate DLC discs.

Okay, i can't connect my Xbox to the internet and DLC discs are the only way i can get add-on's, so i was wondering. Do the DLC discs for add-on's come out the same day in stores as on Xbox live?
I think you might be pretty much screwed. I don't think they'll release it straight away even if a disk is being released. You might have to trade in your current copy for a game of a year edition at a later date. It may be like OB were there were discs, but I wouldn't count on it. If it is like OB then you will probably have to wait about 3 extra months.

PS3 never got separate retail discs for DLC at least not for FO3 (Bethesda said it wasn't possible to do) - so, if you didn't have internet and wanted the DLC you had to wait for GOTY version..

But as to the OP's question.. don't count on it and even if they do, it won't be until the 2nd or even the 3rd (if they do one) DLC is released.

There's no current plans for an Xbox disc. Dawnguard is releasing this summer on Xbox LIVE.

No current plans doesnt mean no, the end of summer is months away... they may not make plans for it until closer to time of release.

I can't.
Get the PC version and wait? Then you'll not have to wait as long as a GOTY? (I remember getting GOTY for Oblivion so I feel your pain in this regard)

I don't have hundreds of dollars to spend on a gaming PC.

I do. But then of course i wouldn't have a physical copy of the disc. And i would have to spend money on Micro$oft points for a DLC that not too far in the future i won't even be able to play.

Yea I know what you mean, tis why I re-buy all my games if they get a GOTY... though I have a feeling XBL on 360 will last much longer this gen than it did for the orginal Xbox since it more online depended.

I think they'll release the DLC on disc, but only once more of them are available. If not that then they'll release a GOTY edition that includes them. Of course as more people start downloading games the likelyhood of this never being released on disc increases but I doubt we're there just yet.

If the DLC is released on Disk, and I stress If, then it will be some time after most or all of the DLCs have been released. More than likely, it will be bundled in a Game of the Year or Ultimate Edition rather than individual or packaged DLC disks.

In other words, at least a year or more before you would see this.

So, take your Xbox over to a friends house that has Internet, hook up to Live, get the DLC, then take your console back to your house. All you need is a free Xbox Live account, then pay for the DLC and you are all set.

Why do I have an Xbox 360 copy of Shivering Isles and KotN combined? It's not Oblivion..it's just Shivering Isles and KotN. It's a DLC disc.
