DLC discs

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 3:52 pm

Okay, i can't connect my Xbox to the internet and DLC discs are the only way i can get add-on's, so i was wondering. Do the DLC discs for add-on's come out the same day in stores as on Xbox live?

I would be shocked if a disc actually came out. People just don't do that anymore.

Has it even been confirmed that the DLCs will get a separate disc release?

Even if they do, you'll have to wait until the second one is released before the discs go on sale. Two DLCs to a disk if Fallout 3 is anything to go by, unless they actually are Shivering Isles size.

You don't say? And here I thought my Skyrim for PC came out on a disk and my girlfriend's Skyrim for Xbox came on another disk. It must have been my imagination.

The thread and the comment you quoted are talking about the DLC being released on discs. Not the game.

Beth always does DLC discs. The add-on's for Oblivion had DLC discs and they were single discs

I think if it were an expansion, it might come out on a disc, but since DLC = DOWNLOADABLE content, I'm guessing this one will be download only. However, a year or two down the road, we might get a game of the year edition which would have the DLC included.

But they didn't have a separate disk release for each one.

Using the Oblivion example, you'd be waiting for whichever is the largest (Without being an Expansion size one) before the non-goty disk release. The smaller DLC didn't get a disk release until Knights of the Nine and they were bundled with that.

Fallout 3 example: You'd have to wait until there's two of them before a disk release.

Save your sarcasm for when you know what people are talking about please.

As stated OB's 'Added Contents' did not come out on separate disc on their own. A full blown expansion maybe. With the game already plugged into STEAM a digital download make a whole lot of sense and is cheaper for Bethesda for not having to worry about the overhead cost of making disc (and the cases, and the shipping, etc.).

2 years is too long to wait for me.

They came out as single discs. they weren't bundled. I'm gonna go Tweet Pete. Or somebody.

IA, the fact that they're calling it downloadable content rather than an expansion makes me think there won't be a disc.

Skyrim for PC might have come with a disc but it required internet to actually use, which svcks for anyone who can't get internet due to their rural location...

Here is what Bethesda said on the YouTube vid description:

Watch the official trailer for Dawnguard, the first game add-on for Skyrim. Dawnguard will be available for download for 1600 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE this summer.

NOTE: "available for download..."

Once again. They always make DLC discs and they were two separate expansion discs. http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/games/elder-scrolls-iv-oblivion-shivering-isles/67114

Even if KoTN came out only for PC it still came out as a DLC disc.

Nope.

The Knights of the Nine pack had KOTN, Horse Armor, Orrey, Wizards Tower, Thieves Den, Vile Lair, Mehunes Razor and Spell Tombs (Fighters Stronghold came long after and was download only) There were no separate release for each individual DLC.

For Fallout 3, O:A and Pitt were one disk, Broken Steel and Point lookout the other. No disc release for Mothership zeta.

That was the collected pack of all the Oblivion DLC listed above and Shivering Isles was a full blown expansion, hence the separate disk.

We're not talking about those small dlc's. We're talking about KOTN and SI.

So? That doesn't mean there won't be a DLC disc.

Well, I guess you'll know when you go to the store and try to pre-order it.

Okay, let's go with that. KOTN was comparable to a Fallout 3 DLC in size and content for the most part. And for those the 'separate' disk didn't come out till the release on the Pitt for the O:A/Pitt pack and the second pack didn't release till the fourth DLC Point Lookout.

So, you'll still be waiting till the second DLC got released before you saw a disk release and thats assuming they even do one.

We have no idea how Beth will do it this time. And once again they always do DLC discs.

Is there a point to this argument? Some game companies offer download games AND a disk also as backup

Game Informer once had an article about the switch to digital merchandise and how it would affect people still living in the stone age.

My only recommendation to you is get an internet connection.

Honestly I don't see why video game companies can't be nice and supply physical disc copies of DLC...but the sad truth is most DLC is virtua-only nowadays, and this is a growing trend.
