Dragon Age apparently getting Multiplayer

This link apparently has a rumor going around that Bioware is apparently creating something Dragon Age related that is multiplayer. Don't know if it's true but judging by their current direction, I'd say this is highly likely. I just have to say one thing: why? This isn't World of Warcraft and apparently has nothing to do with the story, so it looks like Bioware has completely stopped caring about quality stories and is focused on diverting resources to making a good game into what is likely to be a generic Warcraft style rip-off.

Given the multiplayer aspect being applied to ME3....it doesn't shock me I'm afraid. :(

Kotaku isn't a news site, it's a blog. Please don't take them seriously, they are more often wrong than they are right.

That may be true but remember when we thought ME3 getting multiplayer was just a rumor? Bioware's current attitude doesn't exactly help dissuade me from thinking they will implement it.

Oh I'm not saying that Dragon Age won't be getting multiplayer, in fact I'm pretty sure that it will, I'm just saying that Kotaku is an extremely unreliable source. But you know what they say, even a broken watch is right twice a day. :P

Depends how broken it is.

Anyway, I suspect they are correct about this, and all I really have to say is "the fail is hurting my brain, Bioware."

*gasp*

Seriously who didnt see this coming ? Also im guessing this means they are keeping the hack n slash, "awesome button" combat. Bioware are determinded to go after the cod fanbase arent they. Hmmm dosent matter, I will make up my own ending to my characters story in DAO.

Wouldn't surprise me, but those rumors seem ridiculous. I mean, "play as a dragon?" Shyeah, right.

Regardless, concerning Dragon Age, I've already gone through the five stages of grief, and have long since reached the "Acceptance" stage. That means I no longer give a [censored] what happens in the series or where it goes anymore, because I'm done with it forever. Hell, I've even gone and declared everything that isn't Origins, including Awakening and all the DLC, as discontinuity.

That depends if it's co-op multiplayer like Neverwinter Nights or Baldur's Gate, or deathmatch multiplayer thrown in just for the sake of selling those online pass things.

I wish my keyboard had an awesome button. That's probably where I've been going wrong.

Edit: I've been told it's next to the any key.

For me the Dragon Age series begins with Origins and ends with Awakening. As far as I'm concerned, Dragon Age 2 never existed, and any crap that Bioware continues to throw out at EA's demand doesnt exist either.

What? The vast majority of their news comes directly from from "legitimate" gaming news sites (which they cite at the bottom of each post) and they're constantly in contact with developers and publishers. If it's a rumor then they make note of it (as they did here), otherwise they're reporting the same facts you'd find anywhere else.

There's no reason not to take them seriously.

All well. It's the big money maker in the gaming industry. (If it does happen) I think a day will come when Bethesda does it to.

If only Bio was still with Microsoft.

This would be worse then what happened to ME3. Bad idea is bad and a dealbreaker.

Saints row the third has an awesome button, I laughed when I saw it.

If bethesda does it I wont buy it.
Agreed, its funny that EA makes MS look good.

Wait after all their crap this is a dealbreaker ? Even if Bioware went back to making rpgs, I dont think I would support them, they already sold out fans once, whats to stop them trying again in 10 years time knoing fans will come back. Allthough with how horrible ME3 is going to be, how they ruined DA already. I doubt Bioware will last 10 years.

I was willing to give Bioware one last chance with DA3 since I liked DAO and I somewhat liked DA2 but if they put that feature it I won't buy it.

If it was Baldur's Gate style multiplayer (and if Dragon Age 3 was actually good) where you had the option to play through the whole game with friends this would actually be a good thing. Of course that's not going to be the case. Probably just whacking waves of enemies or something.

But I always thought multiplayer Dragon Age made much more sense than multiplayer Mass Effect.

Nah, with the launch of the big MMO they will last longer.

From what I've heard, it's deathmatch BS so no actual effort for story in the fail multiplayer :shakehead:

BioWare: Biodrones, we are now requiring Origin for all of our games!
Fans: But Origin spies on our computer data!
BioWare: WE HAVE ALTERED THE GAMES, PRAY WE DO NOT ALTER THEM FURTHER...
Fans: Darn it! This game is getting worse and worse!

Amazing!

Dragon Age begins and ends with Origins for me. I'll take it as a lovely self contained story. Mass Effect is also dead to me now, they're doing anything they can do alienate the older and smaller fanbase. So whatever, I'm moving on from EA and their ilk.
