Easter Eggs! Part Two...

Post » Sun May 29, 2011 1:21 am

A highly radioactive crater in the middle of nowhere with a skeleton and a cowboy hat in hand. An android that escaped from the commonwealth. NPC's standing around talking and mentioning events from FO3, changeable if you have FO3 data in your hard drive. Skeletons sitting around a pocker table. A computer with the word WOPR written on it. A skeleton buried up to his neck in the dirt. Some guy wandering in the dessert preaching about a guy named John Henry Eden. A BOS outcast looking to attempt to regroup with the BOS. A guy named oscelot carrying a revolver. Some reference to oblivion.

I would like to see .....A rather buff looking wastelander Talking about "I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass...and I'm all out of bubblegum... if you happen to give him bubblegum or kill him you get some really cool shades

(They Live )

I'd choose to give him bubble gum over killing him. The shade should give you +1 charisma. ;)

This takes place in Las Vegas. How about "Albino" Tigers and two ghouls named "Siegfield" and "Rod" who are still doing stage acts in the ruined Mirage casino. I wouldn't go as far as to want a tiger attack, but I'm not gonna cry "tasteless" if it happened.

Actually since the chances of seeing a rainbow in a radioactive desert wasteland is like 100,000,000 to 1... and a double rainbow would be like 1,000,000,000,000 to 1 (if not alot higher) and most people probably don't know what a rainbow is...
I would think the more appropriate response would be something along the lines of "What the hell are with those colors up there?"
Or "Oh my God the aliens!! The aliens have come back to abduct me with colorful lights, run away!"
Or maybe have a "religious" guy make comments that its a sign for doom or salvation or something...

HUBOLOGY!
It'd be damn funny to see the hubologists back in F:NV.
Or maybe one child-sized Hubologist jumping up and down on a couch over and over.

But they die by the end of Fallout 2 IIRC.
Either you kill them, either Shi kills them or they kill themselves by launching the rocket.

They retconed VaultTech into an evil corporation, the GECK distribution and the FEV virus into civilian testing.
They could say one escaped and was reviving the faith.

Cafe of Broken Dreams with characters that never made it into Fallout 3. Or some characters from Fallout 3, like when they had Tandi as her young self.(I generally hate people who cling to FO3 and want characters from that game but it would also be a reference to Fallout 2 so why not?)

I think I heard an earlier idea that had a diner appear in the middle of a sand storm, and when you walk into it, you see a couple of people all sitting in a booth talking, when you get close to them you see the Vault Dweller, the Lone Wanderer, and all the ''player characters'' from the Fallout games previous, and they all have blank faces (i.e. you really can't tell what they look like), and they're all talking about what they accomplished, what they did, then one hands you a drink and they all encourage you to drink it, so you do, and they continue to talk, and eventually they all look at you, and the Lone Wanderer (known so by the Vault 101 jumpsuit he/she/it would be wearing) turns to you and says ''So, Courier, what will you accomplish? Will you be a force for good, or serve evil? Who will you help? Will you accomplish as much as we have? Then you pass out (probably because of that drink), and when you wake up, you're in the middle of nowhere, no diner at all, but a special item would be sitting next to you. (maybe a unique weapon or special item that helps you? A gift from your predecessors, the legends you spoke to?)

I kinda expanded on the idea a bit, but I'd love this as a random encounter event.

Also:

You see a person run by in black and red armor, with an assault rifle, screaming ''ENEMIES ARE EVERYWHERE!''

Why not give us various eye candy about vehicles? I'd love to see the Normandy from Mass Effect do a fly-by over your location in the middle of the desert, and you see like a little box fall off nearby, and inside would be a unique pistol, called a ''Heavy Pistol''.

Also, I'd love to see an AC-130 do a flyby, shooting at some unseen enemy, then just disappearing into the clouds

The USS Enterprise (any version)

(if near the ocean [assuming there is one]) A Covenant ship falls from orbit into the ocean, creating a giant wave. Special item would be washed up (not sure what. maybe a assault rifle or pistol similar to the AR or Magnum from Halo?)

You hear an odd sound in the air, and as you look up, hearing the sound get louder, a passenger jet seems to be crashing down right by you.. it gets lower.. and lower.. and you realize it's about to DIRECTLY HIT YOU! and.. it does right through you (like the ghost images from Point Lookout in Fallout 3).

You hear what sounds like a jet, and you look up, and you see a gold and red man flying by above you (iron man, dur).

..That's all I can think of for now.. but we need more parodies and other funny stuff from games.

Since the developers spend time here, an easter egg that put some of the forum dwellers in game would be tubular!

That idea is genius, Vault Dweller, Chosen One, and The Lone Wanderer in a diner. Sounds amazing.
That would be cool to see in Fallout 4 if nothing like that is in New Vegas.

@St Dilbert
"Survival kit contents check. In them you'll find: one forty-five caliber automatic; two boxes of ammunition; four days' concentrated emergency rations; one drug issue containing antibiotics, morphine, vitamin pills, pep pills, sleeping pills, tranquilizer pills; one miniature combination Russian phrase book and Bible; one hundred dollars in rubles; one hundred dollars in gold; nine packs of chewing gum; one issue of prophylactics; three lipsticks; three pair of nylon stockings. Shoot, a fella' could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff.

I always wondered why there is such a lack of Strangelove references in New Vegas. Maybe a character with floating dialog stating "Shoot it off! Shoot! With a gun! That's what the bullets are for, you twit!

Don't like it.
We've had café of broken dreams already.
No need to rehash that.

And that "lone wanderer turning to you and asking "So. Courier, what will you accomplish? Will you be a force for good, or serve evil?"" Just seems so cheesy.

But I like the idea of some flying vehicle showing up then disappearing into the distance.

If it's true that House is talking behind that huge monitor because he's a germophobe, the player should have the option of saying "Oh crap, you aren't a robot are you? Weak."

You are wandering out in the desert, only to stumble upon a skeleton with a book held tight to the skeletons chest.
Observing the book closely, it reads, "Wasteland Survival Guide" By Moira Brown.

Is it too much to ask to say what you are actually referring to? I don't get most of them because of that.

But sicne that's not the question, how about:

A drill sarge of the NCR asking recruits to show their war face. (Full metal Jacket)

A father and son wandering the wastes. (The Road)

A guy in a jumpsuit hiding under a cardboard box. (Metal Gear Solid)
