Easy Game? Hah!

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 10:29 pm

So I started playing on Master difficulty as a Dark Elf Rogue. Dual Blade, light armour, you know that shtuff. Anyways, over the last few months I have been reading about how easy the game is. EFFFF THAT! It was easy until I got to Bleakfalls barrows(or whatever), I died 8 times, ran out of every single potion I made and bought, and...... I am not playing as a rogue any more, My restoration and block skills are through the roof.

ANYWAYS

Not a complaint I am loving it, I have been playing on the edge of my computer chair, which is frustrating because I need a new one and it keeps going all the way down when I dont sit properly and all

Anyone else having this much fun!?!?!!?

Yea, playing on Master has certainly put me in some frustrating situations, but I like it.

Aww. I was expecting a troll.

Whom I would troll back with "Okay. *eats @ss*"

Edit: Oh. That says 'Easy.' Not 'Eat'

Lol, gutterbrain FTW!

I guess hey, level up really quick, thats cheating. Though I might do that cause I need some better armour.

Yeah, people who don't start on master don't know what they are missing >:3
I made a new character today and I just finished killing a dragon with a hunting bow and iron arrows
Sadly, you even get used master difficulty and the game becomes easy again, so I used mods to make it harder. Check out the results, it's the third link in my sig.

Or they start playing on an easier difficulty level then change to master after they already became powerful.

I'm sorry, when did balance and fun become mutually exclusive in gaming?

Melee-wise it IS fairly easy. Or at least a ton easier than say Oblivion on Very Hard. I mean just block and slash. But once you get Magic involved it becomes harder than anything. [censored] spells hurt so frikkin much. And then theres Ancient Dragon Frost Breath OUCH!!!!

Master is easy once you get to higher levels, but before you have high sneak, crafting skills, conjuration, and/or illusion it's not the same kind of cake walk especially for melee characters.
Personally I found it to be a bit stupid, all it does is make the low levels a pain since you have to basically avoid getting hit so I found myself abusing all the familiar TES AI limitations. There's not much to the combat so making it annoying early on has no payoff later on when it's still shallow and unengaging.

You cant balance Gamebyro, were all far too used to exploiting the terrible AI and pathing to be able to make it truely difficult. Plus, the minute you decide to level both Smithing AND Enchanting youve just broken your game. WTB CK already.

You can actually.

One way to handle players who have great Smithed gear?

Give enemies attacks that negate Armor.

One way to handle players who have tons of Enchantments?

Give enemies Dispel, or set up "null magic" trap areas.

Not every enemy has to have these, but some can.

Where exactly did I say that?

You are the one suggesting that we have to choose between having fun or being challenged.

Why can't I make my god killing sword but still find challenge?

Then why have something like enchanting and smithing in a game when you just going to cancel it out ? I don't see the point in that

I did say "some" enemies, did you notice that part?

It's called balancing out the game, and more importantly, opening up a lot more avenues of play and things to experience.

It's part of the RP experiences. Just because you are level 81 does not automatically make you god... it shouldn't. There should always be at least one thing better than you, or at least equal to you, because that provides the player with incentive to keep playing.

My opinion: stuff combat. Siting in the arcaneum in winterhold with a good book and a cup of black briar mead. Thats what Elder scrolls al about. To bad i read almost all the books. all well back to daggerfall.

I would say even playing on Expert, and controlling yourself from those two skills can be a challenge.

I have a newish character who's running around in iron, upgraded at superior, lvl 14, and many encounters feel about equal to most action game difficulty. Y'know, frustrating moments where you get killed for being too hasty.. having to load and repeat a lot, trying to think of new strategies. Right now, the Kematu dungeon is smacking me around - and that's just the bandits in there. Also, giants can pulverize me in two hits.

It can be easy on master. But it really depends very much on play style. For example if you buff smithing, alchemy, enchanting, and continuously use a bow and continuously use shield + one handed, then with the proper perks you can practically steamroll through the game as a true demi-god.

Yeah, but it's unrealistic that they'd be able to grind enchanting & alchemy at such low level or in a very short time, unless they've used console commands to add ingredients. I find level 1 to about 35 very challenging, and after that there are occaisional challenging momments that can lead you to either death or near death.

I wouldn't say broken, it depends on what you want. If you ask me you should be able to see what is coming as you level these skills and keep putting perks into them.

I decided deliberately to make my third character overpowered, he goes like this: Smithing, Enchanting, Heavy Armor, Two-Handed, Conjuration, Restoration. Right now he is roaming the land with his wife, two Orcs dressed in legendary Orcish armor, his with Fortify Two-Handed and Fortify Conjuration enchantments, her with Fortify Heavy Armor and Fortify Health Enchantments. They are accompanied by a zombie thrall Bandit Chief or a Dremora Lord. It is just kind of funny steam-rollering over everything in a rain of blood (on Master). They mostly do quests for fellow orcs, or bounty missions for Jarls, or just wipe out bandit camps, Forsworn camps, or whole groups of giants and mammoths.
