Ebony sword - Hardly any blade?

I dont really like the ebony sword they created. I feel like they added a super long handle and then added a little timy blade at the end.

I can't say I'm a HUGE fan of the Ebony Sword, but that's for different reasons. I just don't think it looks dark and evil enough! Needs more edges. ;)

What are you guys talking about? A bit more than half the length is blade, and that's fine for a sword like that. Could almost be a hand-and-a-half sword.

Instead I love it and personally I think is one of the best sword designed in style .... Tough is a dunmer fashion if not wrong ... Beth should really start to differentiate styles from materials ...

I'm not a huge fan either. I the blade was long and curved I'd like it a lot more.

The blade looks like a giant metal twig if i'm honest, same goes for the dagger, would make a good stabbing weapon though :)

I like it, thank the gods its not one of those giant Japanese animation swords. I tried deadric weapons but they are too big and look out of place on my vampire character.

I hate all the weapons beyond steel. They look too "fat", and remind me of nerf toys.

I like how it looked in Morrowind to me it looked better. I don't care how it has that sloped shap to it in Skyrim. But it doesn't bother me because I never used it. By the time I was able to smith Ebony I was very close to smithing Daedric. So I didn't want to waste my ebony ingots on making it.

If you want dark and evil, go with a Daedric Longsword. I'm disappointed with the lack of good-guy swords. Granted Dwarven and Elven swords look alright, but I would like a knightly-looking sword that is not as common as Steel. I'm confident this will be changed with Dawnguard, however.

I'm dissappointed with ebony weapons and armors in Skyrim. In Morrowind and Oblivion they were pretty ones - ones I liked to collect, but there they look like a piece of [censored].

I'm on the opposite end of it- I'm a fan of it. Though, honestly the build is more elven in my eyes. But I like the fact that it DOESN'T look evil/ malicious. We've already got the daedric weapons for that. It's nice that they went the opposite direction w/ the ebony weapons.

Ebony isnt an "evil" material. Its just a case of being dark in color. Ebony is rare and hard to work with, so a full set of ebony armor denotes wealth and power.

Note: Not to be confused with actual ebony which is a dark and strong wood.

Ebony's not supposed to be evil - it's implied to be the blood of Lorkhan. You know. Shor.

I wish Ebony wasn't a katana. I pretty much can't stand asian references in my western RPG - thats what akaviri gear is for. Stop forcing katanas down my throat with almost all the high level swords being katanas.

It is a strange blade in my opinion, but generally I like it fairly well. It stands out among the other weapons as well, which is a good thing as far as I am concerned.

Not really. They are shorter and the only thing they have in common is they are both curved. They are closer to a cutlass then a katana.

No. I like it. They've been in TES since forever. Deal with it.

I mean in Morrowind we had Tanto's, Wakizashi's, and Dai-Katana's. I like "Japanese" blades in my TES, and they're gonna stay.

Don't like it? Mod it out.

At least in Morrowind it made sense. In Skyrim it doesn't and wreaks of anime fanboyism on the part of one or two of the weapons designers. What does Eorland Greymane know of curved swords? What do you beyond a couple blades katanas that you can't craft anyway?

Don't say stupid things, your xenophobia is showing. Appreciating Japanese culture, including their military styles, armor, and blades. Is not bad in anway, I'd even argue that it's a good thing. It adds variety, and additional weaponry for those who appreciate it.

Neverwinter Nights had blades from other cultures. Dark Souls has blades from other cultures(Yes it is a japanese game, but still), and TES has it as well.

Variety is always a good thing, and we don't need the same recycled European blades in every WRPG.

What does Eorland Greymane know of curved swords?

He's supposed to be an exceptional smith. What kind of blacksmith wouldn't learn about other weapons, and include them to his/her craft?
