At least in Morrowind it made sense. In Skyrim it doesn't and wreaks of anime fanboyism on the part of one or two of the weapons designers.
Don't say stupid things, your xenophobia is showing. Appreciating Japanese culture, including their military styles, armor, and blades. Is not bad in anway, I'd even argue that it's a good thing. It adds variety, and additional weaponry for those who appreciate it.
Neverwinter Nights had blades from other cultures. Dark Souls has blades from other cultures(Yes it is a japanese game, but still), and TES has it as well.
Variety is always a good thing, and we don't need the same recycled European blades in every WRPG.

He's supposed to be an exceptional smith. What kind of blacksmith wouldn't learn about other weapons, and include them to his/her craft?
