Ebony Warrior: More than just a fight?

Post » Mon Feb 04, 2013 2:27 pm

I don't have access to this quest yet because i'm not level 81 but I find it interesting that UESP says that he is a Redguard who uses Dragon Shouts in battles and after you kill him says "at last Sovngarde" which is a Nord thing isn't it? Maybe a hint at what is next, not sure but very interesting, can't wait to get this quest.
Oh [censored]<---(poop) lol i dont even think thats on purpose, that had to be by accident. They made him as a redguard but his dialogue suggests he's a nord. Mistake right there

I don't think so. They'd have to be really really drunk to hire the voice actor used for redguards and make his skin dark if they wanted him to be a nord, you know? Who knows, maybe he's boss enough to get to Sovngarde despite not being a Nord. If anyone deserves it besides a dovahkiin, he does. I doubt it though.

He seems like a bit of a play on high level characters, and the point everyone will reach in any Elder Scrolls game: Running out of stuff to do.

He's done it all, and at the level 80 minimum for meeting him it seems like he thinks you're out of stuff to do as well.

He could be a reference to Gaenor or Umbra also. (I was personally hoping the sword would have made it in as a special weapon)

At any rate, he was a tough fight, with Odahviing and "uber gear" included.

I could try again without a dragon distraction, I bet i'd get ace'd in a heartbeat. As for now, his soul is in the Black Star, until I find a mighty enough weapon for it to reside in.

Why did they have to chose a redguard for him though? I umderstand as a dragonborn, we can shouy no matter our race, but why did they give a redguard the ability to shout?
No offence to redguards, but I thought shouting was a nord thing and a sung or singsword was a redguard thing? Wouldnt it have made more sense for them to have used a nord?

Well, anyone can learn it, but yea, its a nord tradition, and one only held up currently by the greybeards. To me it seems highly unlikely the greybeards would teach some random guy the thu'um.

Maybe he was just delusional or had a nord father. I know the mother determines the race, but if he had a nord father could it count?

I found two guaranteed ways to win against this guy. Utilize your beast forms!

1st Character - Vampire Lord. Tele-grab him off the cliff

2nd character - Werewolf. Keep power attacking him and tear him a new one while he's on the ground. I did notice some hits got reflected but still killed him with ease.

On second thought. The werewolf may have been a fluke. Tried it again 5 times. Died each time due to reflected blows ~_~

Better yet, I did this:

1) Marked for death

2) Run away like a b****

3) Marked for death

4) Run away like a b****

5) Marked for death

6) Go in for the kill

I've no honor. Shor frowns upon me

First time I fought him a lady came up to me in the middle of battle asking me to use the wabbajack on her. It was annoying but very funny. Needless to say, I did not win that battle. The second time he blasted me off the cliff. The third time we were at the edge of the cliff and both low on health. He started to fall off but I slashed his head in time for the kill and watched him fall all the way down. I love this game lol.

Yea he, like most things at 80+, is not a challenge on normal. You gotta try master.

How did I hinder his preference of play by saying the ebony warrior isn't a challenge when you're a level 80 or 81 fighting him on adept?

It's not.

It's the cold truth.

So I keep reloading the save right I made right in front of the ebony warrior. It's hilarious how random this fight is.

In one case, I dual-wielded two Dragonbone swords that do 151 damage and cast a Marked for Death and dodged two of his power attacks and retaliated with a dual power attack of my own. Two dual power attacks and he was dead.

In the second attempt I kept dying because of the reflect blow ability he has using the same tactics.

This ebony warrior is a cheater ~_~

I did the same thing Krebs, trying out different ways to kill him.

So far the most satisfying is the unarmed finisher, a brutal knee to the gut then a Judo throw to finish him off.

Though the most epic, was when fighting with Storm Call going. Weakened him, and as he starts to run, a bolt of lightning brings him to the ground where I cut his head off in one swing. This game is just epic.

I don't know how people keep talk about sneak kills. I'm convinced my game has a script where I can't land a sneak attack first to start the battle.

It goes like this:

I crouch behind him with dual wield daggers

Go for a either a single power attack, dual power attack, or a standard dual normal attack

Get sneak attack reflected

I die

Happened 6 times in a row.

Well since you have OP weapons if course you can, and any armor rating above 567 (or something around there) won't add any more defense. You should try without OP weapons:)

Not so OP what you think. Ive still without no improved weapons about 170Dmg in normal sword, and 180-190 in bow etc. Main reason why ive so much dmg in those weapons is my super echanments :-)

Oh and i killed him without any OP weapon with my first character. He was Battlemage i quess best of them :-) Still he gave me good fight and alot of damage.

Not so OP? My enchanted dragonbone axe does no more than a third (if that, even) of the damage your weapons do. That's crazy OP.

I believe people being able. To down him easily in one shot...maybe two, but if you say you down him with one destruction spell your trolling.

I dont mean weapon echanments. I meant armor echanmets. Ive daedric gauntless they give about 70% more dmg to one handed, two handed, helm gives same to bow. And lot more ive also 40% ring for one handed, but i dont need it.

Honestly, rocking that much damage%+ gear is going to get you killed the moment he reflects your damage back at you. There are numerous Youtube videos where players get one-shotted from their own attack and don't know why.

I went up to him on Master with no damage%+ enchantments, and as much Fortify Health as I could cram on, and won. Only used maybe 4 potions of healing. Every time he reflected damage back on me, I could easily manage it since I wasn't doing hundreds of points at a time.

Grand Healing is going to do you a lot of good while you're laying on the ground paralyzed for 15 seconds at a time, or Fus Ro Dah'ed off the side of the cliff, and staggering back to your feet while he wails on you with his Vampiric Sword..

Bring some potions.

I fought him with a wooden sword that does around 200 damage. Even with elemental fury, my attacks just bounced right off of him. Finally, I stacked numerous "Marked for Death" shouts and just chopped his head off with one swipe. 200 damage is OP, but it was still a good fight. Also, I think he somehow reflected fall damage back to me. I Fus Ro Dah'd him twice, both times caused me to die as I was running up to finish him off (before I attacked).
