Enclave.. Oh where have you gone?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 7:08 pm

Enclave = They wanted to see how people would react to certain situations, So they built Vaults, They reason they did this is because they wanted to (Unconfirmed?) another planet.
BUT LATER they decided to just resettle their own planet after these things happened, So they built some to last, And others for the experiments.
They had Humanity at mind, but had the wrong means of doing it.

(For whoever said they were completely evil..)

There's no accounting for the colour of some people's in-game politics....

They had "pure" humans at mind. Which meant only themselves, for the most part. That's a very selfish and evil "for humanity" given the context. As it proscribed genocide for everyone else.

Some of the vault experiments made sense, but could have been handled differently.

Before the Great War actually happened, They intended for everyone (Who played roles at least.) to make it through with Vaults intended to work and Unoffical Vaults made for the sole purpose of the Enclave

What are you trying to argue here? The Vault program that was set up by the US government and Enclave intentially saved fewer than it could. That's no better than the genocide they later adopted.

Some of the Vault experiments made sense though. They wanted to account for the reactions a population group would have to certain factors. Some of the experiments made no sense, but the overall purpose for them did.

The point was to avoid these factors if possible, know how to react if a population group was exposed to those factors, and prevent the consequences when they tried to resettle and rebuild the country. Those consequences could have been disastrous and destroyed any hopes of rebuilding if the Enclave had actually attempted to rebuild and resettle, but they were destroyed, so the Vault experiments were done in vain.

Fewer with a lesser chance of Criminals bringing things over to the new Generation. (Or WOULD-BE generation..)

But it all ended horribly.

They TRIED to do the right thing for Humanity (Or at least America...) but ended up making a hooooorrrible choice.

I think it is still perfectly possible for the Enclave to still exist in 2281, remeber ED-E's mention of a Chicago Outpost and that attached to him is an Illinios licence plate? But the guys need some time, I still find it hard justifying their numbers to myself, after F2 I guessed maybe 200, 30 years later maybe a few more, but they still kept Navarro active? I figured maybe keeping all their eggs in one basket wasn't a smart idea, they figured maybe some [censored] storyline or writing would come along one day and render all their supposed efficency useless so they spread out.

I am the only one who still wants the Enclave to be "villians", I don't mean stormtrooper [censored] like in Fallout 3, I mean still working on the Project? I loved the much more human Enclave in NV and I wish we had seen more of their human side before, the obvious families and children that had to be in Raven Rock etc. but I still really want them to be working on their true goal. Oh well, they obviously can't win or there'd be no more game (unless a Enclave City Builder is your idea of fun, I'd play it!), but yeah they need a chance to rest and get their numbers up. They can't die off surely, right?

I personally cannot stomach the thought that Broken Steel was the last time we see them, that getting their arses' kicked by the underpowered, undergunned, outnumbered Lyon's BoS. That the hieght of US Army tactics when their back was against the wall and it is all or nothing was to just fling stormtroopers at Liberty Prime and fly Vertibirds into it; for god's sake shoot the f**king legs with rockets from behind and let the b****h topple!

Check my post, I want them to be Villain too, and even gone so far to restore America they start taking steps backward.

I just think Fallout needs Power Armour show down.
To me, super mutant for me is just bio-power armour...mutation;Veteran Ranger is wearing "agile" power armour; and of course, the centurion armour is Roman power armour....weather they are actually power armour or not, they are super soldier with awesome armour.

First off, there's no evidence that they ever planned to resettle and rebuild. Interviews with Tim Cain and materials for Van Buren implied heavily that it was all just to make sure that they, the Enclave, would have contingencies prepared themselves for their space launch as they abandoned everyone else to wasting death.

Second off, resettle and rebuild is a morally neutral goal. Simply rebuilding doesn't make you good. When you grossly and intentially endanger 9/10ths of the surviving populace, you don't get to claim "the ends justify the means." The ends are nothing compared to what was lost by the means. "Ends justify the means" is when you kill five to save hundreds. When you kill thousands to save hundreds, then it's simply genocide.

Actually I think they even state in FO2 that they were going to repopulate the wasteland.

Honestly though I just want Frank Horrigans Enclave..

Without Horrigan.

I personally would have liked to see some more Enclave, on the level which the Brotherhood is present (perhaps less). I think Bethesda did a very bad job of portraying the Enclave in FO3. You barely get to talk to any of them (except Eden, Autumn, an Officer for like 2 lines, and some mechanic in the mobile base crawler). This lack of insight into the Enclave throughout FO3 just made them seem like lifeless, dull, weapon fodder. In the previous Fallout's they had more character, they were an actual faction if you will. In FONV the remanats quest had more character regarding the Enclave then FO3 did in its entirety.

The Enclave's mission is wrong in ways, but also good in some regards if you look at the big picture. They wanted to kill all non pure humans, which is obviously bad, but it would also kill all the feral ghouls, irradiated mutants, deathclaws, super mutants, etc. If they went through with their master plan then the US would eventually began to repopulate with normal people, free from the harm of super muntants. Now if the NCR took control over the wasteland, not only would many, many humans have to live in fear of the super mutants, they would also be savagely killed by them (or some other monstrousity). The NCR would have to utilize many soldiers (who may well lose their lives) at the expense of manually going out and killing every super mutant, feral, deathclaw, cazadore, etc. This process could take 100's of years (during which many humans could lose their lives), while the Enclave's path could see a decent sized population prospering in 100's of years. Granted the best alternative would be to make it so the humans with minimal amounts of radiation in their systems not die, only those that have severe cases (super mutants obviously).

In FO3 I never really cared for the Enclave. You never got to truely side with them (you only have two choices really), you never got to learn about them, and the game just immediatly made them the bad guys and the Brotherhood of Steel the holiest group to ever walk the wastes. I feel that Obsidian could've done a better job of portraying the Enclave then Bethesda did.

If they do return I'd like them to be more like a advanced Merc group now, or perhaps something like the BoS but out to carve up a new nation.

i like them but if they reappear, they need to be cast in a different light. they should not just be straight up crazies with no interaction.

So I'm just wondering if anybody misses the Enclave in NV as much as I do. I really enjoyed **SPOILERS** Arcade Gannon's quest and I am in love with the Gannon Family Tesla Armor! But it just didn't feel like enough to me. I understand that in the previous games they were run out of NV with only a few left in hiding or living normal lives (as normal as it can get in the Wasteland). But I felt like there really needed to be more. Even if it was a small hidden faction like the BoS which brings up a whole different story of how I wanted more of them to lol. But anyways, I would have liked (even if it didn't fit perfectly in the game!) more Enclave whether it was small groups here and there or a hidden bunker. Hopefully we will have a DLC that has more to do with them such as the popular topic of Area 51 or a encounter with them in a different region. But the reason I want more of them is because one of the biggest things I loved about the Fallout series was their whole army/group. I agreed with some of their beliefs and what they were doing including all their propaganda. The whole patriotism feel to them but also like a dictatorship. Well back to you guys. Did you think NV needed a larger story for the Enclave or do you think it wasn't necessary?

I really feel the Enclave are a bunch of power hungery nut jobs and one they had got control of all the wastelands would of extermated them anyway so im glade they all died! the brother hood of steel are your better bet!!
