Ever been "forced" to go against your characters mor

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 4:59 am

Im no murderer, i consider myself an all around "good guy". But recently i was pushed into a rage in Whiterun when Idolaf Battle-Born said something to me along the lines of "i should bash your face in". I couldn't let that go, i was forced to decapitate him, to set an example. You dont talk down to the savior of Skyrim, even if you dont agree with his political affiliation (stormcloak in this characters instance). It actually felt really good. I paid the 1000 gold fine with a smile on my face.

Anyone else ever have surprisingly satisfying moments when they are "forced" to go against their characters morals?

i have multiple characters, i was referring to my Nord warrior all quester (except thieves guild, mages guild, DB) in the OP

i would say my pic represents my main character better though  (sneaky assassin)

Quests sometimes push me against my morals. But I don't willingly let myself go outside my morals

I want to kill him to though it's not against my morals... Though I won't be paying any bounty for it because I'll never be caught... They'll just find a body sprawled out on the steps to dragonsreach one day...

Only real time that happened, I wasn't forced, but in Ill met by moonlight,
Spoiler
while my character would normally have fought to save the werewolf, it seemed quite reasonable that after communing with Hircine, she would would be overtaken by bloodlust and the spirit of the hunt, and go against all her usual morals.

Not really. I'm not one to roleplay so much that my experience of the game is altered for the worst. But thats just my opinion, because I never get my own morals mixed in with the game.

my nord knight of all that is good, a devout worshiper of talos, controller of a hundred artifacts (just a title, of course, i dont think 100 artifacts exist in TES, bu i know you can only get 16 in skyrim), the dragonborn himself was forced to join the guild and the college

of course my assassin (my main) is a decent guy and would never kill unless a contract demanded it, but his morals turned a bit darker when he was betrayed, he no logner is so trusting to others

I've never been "forced" to, but I have a couple times made decisions that went against my morals.

Like that time I killed the Priest of Boethia for Molag Bal to get his mace.

My character is typically a goody glory, but isn't afraid to "get things done" when necessary. But that one instance, the offer was too good to pass up.

Luckily I don't have a morality issue at the moment. I'm on my 3rd character, she is an assassin and basically a serial killer.

Why oh why did I have to kill
Spoiler
the Wolf Queen, couldn't I have ressurected her instead. Especially if she is half as hot as she appears on carvings of her.

Forced? Not really. If there's a quest that goes against my character's morals he just walks away.

Usually my good guy Argonian doesn't kill anyone if he doesn't have to. For example robbers are shown mercy if they surrender and stop attacking.
But once when my character was drinking beer next to the counter in an inn a rude Orc came to say to him that he's a milk drinker. That time my character couldn't just walk away, and the Orc didn't want a fist fight either. The Orc died in a few seconds, and then my character continued to drink his beer like nothing happened.

You do know that she was a VERY old woman at the time of her death? So she would probably not be very hot. Unless you're into grannies of course :P

Ooh, I love the quests that push your moral boundaries. Expecially ones like
Spoiler
Molag Bal's

I know so many people complain about getting forced into evil quests and then they have it stuck in the journal, but I love it. In RL, you probably won't know you're with the bad guys unil it's too late - there aren't too many spandex-toting Marvel villians out there. I loved the one above where you don't even know what's going on until you're halfway done with it.

And then the ages spent trying to rationalize everything, like with the Imperials/Stormcloaks. Who needs black and white morality?

I genuinely didn't want to do do Boethia's quest, but I want to collect enough Daedric artifacts.

Oh the dilemma, oh the discomfort, it just didn't feel right.

Sorry follower. ;)

No thanks to my "must complete all quests in my questlog even if they were shoved into my face" logic, I was forced to join Companions, steal, lockpick, etc.

I play as a Dumner so i dont have morale issues with some Deadric quests, i also dont consider it cannibalism if my character starts eating flesh of the other races (she doesnt eat Dumner though, cause that is).

Weird that Aela doesnt comment on that.
