Might work for the last SP TES Beth put out.

For now, not sure a "destroy the world" outcome works well for a game "franchise".

Not to mention the practical difficulties, e.g., 2 separate MQ lines.

You should get GTA IF you want to be a bad guy.
Every games have stories you know, they can't just freely give you-want-to-be.
But, become a bad guy in Skyrim not a bad idea either, I think.

Because murdering targets in the DB, or stealing from innocent people in the Thieves guild is 'sooo' valiant and good. Most things in skyrim are pretty middle ground.

The first Fallout basically did it... And There was still a Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics, Fallout Brotherhood of Steel, and finally Fallout 3... Which then did it again with the contaminating the water thing, then they came a out with an expansion after that... Then New Vegas... Which let you blow up anyone and everyone if you wanted in lonesome road.... And they are working on Fallout 4 now. Soooo I don't think an ending that let's you join the bad guys in their evil plans is impossible in a game. If Fallout can do it-that much, I think TES can handle it.

Be evil. Join the Thalmor.

According to the Bugs in a Jar conspiracy theory(s) on Reddit, the Thalmor want to destroy all mankind.

You want to be truly evil in a video game? Then
Either get mods that allow it, or buy Overlord and slaughter innocents.

I want. To join. The thalmor. Sure, you people may be all "But why would you want to?" I counter with: Because my Almter character not only agrees with them, but wants to join them.

Why couldn't I side with Ancano? To frame the archmage and the master wizard? To trick the Psijic Order into revealing their location to the Aldmeri? Why did I have to play either the Imperials or the Stormcloaks? Why couldn't I play the two sides against each other as a Thalmor agent? What about all the Talos shrines still out there? I'd love to hunt them down and destroy them...

.. you may not be able to choose evil very much, but there are much more rewards for evil characters. Most daedric quests are evil in nature. Most.

You cannot be Thalmor because plot-wise you have to piss them off by infiltrating them and stealing their intel as part of the main quest, killing their agent in the College (who if he wasn't stopped, would've accidentally or intentionally destroy Mundus), or many other quests. Hell, I'm betting one of the DLCs would have the Thalmor as the villains.

I understand your point of view, OP. To me, however, there is not enough exclusively "good" content in Skyrim.

In morrowind, you can slaughter everyone but, like, two NPCs and still accomplish everything needed to beat the main quest.

I agree with on you this. Love having smaller rewards, just wish there was more quests for the "Good" side. Then again, the warm, fuzzy feeling I get does make up for that in a way. And you can always lay the undead to rest, or bring bandits to an early rest!

Yeah, I can find plenty of things to do in the game with my good characters, and it is lots of fun. I just wish there was a "good" faction that was given as much attention as the Dark Brotherhood or even the Thieves Guild.

The reason that they don't let you do anything really evil is because then they'd have to work that into the lore via a dragon break. They take everything into account when the player effects Tamriel, so your evil will have to be minor evil.

See my above post, plus the Thalmor's end game is to destroy literally all of existence. They're not really a "shades of gray" faction.

Similar to not being able to join the Mythic Dawn in Oblivion. It would be a cool option, but having the ability to "break" the game died with Morrowind.

Or, as a Thalmor agent, you could, you know, tell them about the Blade's plans, and change the dynamic of the main quest, acting as a double agent against the Blades.
