EVIIIL!

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 12:47 pm

My only REAL problem with ALL Elder Scrolls games is the lack of option to be (As mermaid man puts it) EVIIIL! Now true, we get to be evil vampires if we want in dawnguard, but thats only one instance. All throughout Oblivion i craved the ability to become a necromancer and probe the mysterious arts of the dead, or to join the mythic Dawn and wreak havoc upon Cyrodiil with the Daedra, or even just be BAD. Sure you can commit murders and be wanted, but you can't do anything to really threaten tamriel. You can't summon a demon to destroy a town or raise an army of undead to invade a city. I may be alone on this, but I want to be evil! Post either how/why you disagree or how you want to be Evil

Yea it seems like the games can be like that. Like they're pushing you more to the good side. That's all I have to say about that.

I both disagree and dont disagree, I agree that having the ability to have more choices and more direct impact on your world with good/neutral/evil choices could definitely make things more interesting. However I just dont see the absence of this as a problem in TES games. They may be Open World games but they are still trying to tell a story, and your character going Jack the Ripper isnt necessarily the point. SImply put this game already has a ton of stuff in it, they just cant add everything possible.

Even WITH the Vampire questline I'm sure they'll throw many opportunities for [censored] into it.

We already know of one within that questline.

You get more active choices in Skyrim to be evil than to be good. What you're protesting is an inability to just go megalomaniac, which is so different from the Hero's Quest it'd need a game devoted to it, really.

Because murdering targets in the DB, or stealing from innocent people in the Thieves guild is 'sooo' valiant and good.

Most things in skyrim are pretty middle ground.

The choice between good and evil often touted by modern rpgs nearly always turns out to be a choice between being nice and being a jerk... while doing good and saving the world.

Skyrim allows more "evil" than most of the modern TES games do. You can be a necromancer in this game, for one. Those are considered evil in the TES game.

It's not Good, but it's not evil. It's crime, yes, it's bad, it's morally wrong, but it's not Evil. Evil as in Dark plans to slaughter thousands of innocents or to conquer the very world. EVIL evil, if you know what I mean.

I agree, but only on the main campaigns... However... That kinda makes sense... For example when Parthanaax asked me why I wanted to save the world I ws pretty much just thinking because if I didn't I would have nothing to kill, but that's just it. Usually the stories that don't let you be bad are world ending.

Get what you mean though I was hoping to turn on Tamriel in Oblivion too, but it never gave em the chance.

Exactly. Fact is most people wanna be the "One" who saves the world and defeats the "Big Bad". As long as that's true you won't get a truly evil path in these games. (And please, no one say the Dark Brotherhood, this is about a lack of an alternate path to the main quest).

What is evil? I find mentally torturing people evil. Some find physically torturing them evil. Some find smiling evil. Try smiling in-game, it might give you a death warrant.
