Alien crash site? Sure. Getting abducted onboard an alien spaceship fighting against little green men with a samurai, cowboy, soldier, little girl, and trader for no apparent reason other than for the lulz? No.
I don't mind aliens in Fallout if they're already dead. It gives the nice thought that something out there is interested in us, but the close encounters I thought were just too far. Leave it as a thought, not an experience.
Mothership Zeta had no real plot (you get abducted, you fight your way through the ship, you destroy parts of the ship and then fight another spaceship that came out of nowhere?), but more importantly it took you off of the wartorn planet. Fallout's supposed to be about the post-apocalypse, where man utilizes his most powerful weapon to try to destroy his enemies for no reason other than hatred, and causes the entire Earth to pay for his sins. Trying to make it in this godforsaken land, and even helping out the people of the wastelands from famine, oppression, etc.
If aliens are in New Vegas or Fallout 4, put them in as far as the alien crash site. Don't bring in alien spaceships though. Leave us on Earth, dealing with the depressing ruins of yesteryear.
