Favorite Music Album ever?

Post » Fri Nov 18, 2011 4:33 am

See, sensible choices. Picking something by Arcade Fire as your all-time favourite album just makes me want to weep. :P

You'd be surprised how many people have no taste :hehe:

Rush
2112

A seminal work of music from three virtuosos.
An album that gets played in my household at least once a week since 1976.

Do yourself a favor...

The title track is the best thing they've ever done but the rest of the tracks drag down the overall quality. If I had to pick a Rush album it'd be Hemispheres.

It's got to be Moving Pictures.

Maiden is not only an overrated band, but they made quite a few absolute bowsers of albums as well. Remember Virtual XI, Dance of Death and so forth. Junk.

I quite liked the albums they did when Paul DiAnno was in the band, though back then they had an almost punk edge to them. Which is probably why I like them.

Alive 2007 by Daft Punk. Literally the perfect album. Runners up are Cross by Justice and For Lack of a Better Name (or For Lack of a Better Album Title if we're allowed to cheat) by Deadmau5.

I thought Funeral was brilliant. I'm sure David Bowie would say the same thing :P . I weep more when the same "classics" like Dark Side of the Moon and friends get mentioned constantly (not that they're not awesome too). What made me choose the two albums I chose is that both bands are relatively new and are still helping music evolve.. Murmuure especially. Something pretty rare from what I've seen

I'd say Farewell to Kings, just for Xanadu. I love that song.

Him Indoors: "I really don't need to hear Bruce whine 'No More Pies' for eight whole minutes!"

I find that odd critera for a favourite-album-ever list. I tend to default to Dark Side of the Moon because I first fell in love with it 25 years ago and my opinion hasn't changed since then. I might consider that Battles are helping music evolve, but imagine I probably won't play Gloss Drop that often in 25 years' time, but will still be listening to Dark Side of the Moon.

I got some great music from my sister-in-law.
One Time for All Time (65 Days of Static) just barely beat out the Gorillaz self title album.

You're right.. I just really like new things.

A lot of metal especially (Death, Metallica, Iron Maiden, etc) that is considered classic I can't even get into because it just sounds outdated to me. I'm sure they were important to the scene, but newer bands are just coming up with more interesting riffs IMO. I suppose they're not really comparable to Pink Floyd though who are definitely timeless.

I'm quite certain I'll still be listening to the albums I mentioned when I'm older.. I guess nostalgia plays a role here.

Definitely the best Death album out there, absolutely. Every track on that album is sheer brilliance.

Everything they did is awesome. Chuck Schuldiner has low-fi demo tapes that are better than 98% of the music out there.

I have to go with Godspeed You! Black Emperor on this one. Only problem is, which album...? I can't decide between F#A#∞ , Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada , or Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven; they're all so good.

If i had to pick only one that would probably be The Downward Spiral by the Nine Inch Nails.

I go Fists, F#, Slow Riot, Yanqui, in that order.

You know what, I really enjoy Kiss Alive 4, the one with the orchestra. That's a great album.

Hm, tied between a few albums:

Queensr?che, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uay9kHOz5H4

I'd love to see Operation Mindcrime turned into a video game (done properly, of course). It could be like a heavy metal Nomad Soul...

Iron Maiden are ace live, but yes there are a lot of bumps in their albums.

I really don't think I could pick a favourite album though. Recently I've been enjoying a revisit to Blackwater Park by Opeth. It somehow just sounds like winter to me.

It's either Piper At The Gates of Dawn, or something by Justin Bieber.

I always do a double-take at that GSYBE album title - I keep thinking it's some weird way of expressing a swear-word before I remember, "Oooh, F sharp!"
