Female dragons

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 7:53 am

There is a dragon in-game that refers to other dragons, Alduin included as his brothers, or Zeymah, instead of referring to them as his brothers and sisters when there is in fact a draconic word for sister.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:There_Be_Dragons in-game book also apparently says that there are no differing genders.

Have you ever talked to an old woman who smokes?

A lifetime of breathing fire or frost will give anyone a masculine voice.

Hahahaaa xD
I laughed my ass off :D Maybe it's cuz the 15th hour in my nightshift started....1 more hour to go !!

Someone should make a mod to include female giants in giant camps.

I think, I fought a female dragon last night. She had way longer eyelashes than her male counterparts.

I thought dragons are incapable of reproduction and were just.. created somehow.

This dragons are immortal creatures that have always been. The dragon population number is pretty much always in decline, each dragon that dies (by having it's soul absorbed) is -1, there is no possibility of a +1.

this. Dragons are immortal, and thus, have no need or means of reproduction. The concept of gender is something that only came about when the mortal races were created. They could and did die, so they needed a means to continue their species.

Similarly, the daedric princes are neither male nor female, though they can and often do choose to appear as one or the other.

Dragons don't sound particularly masculine to me. Yes they have deep voices, but then they're also huge and have extremely long necks. Unless a dragon specifically referred to themselves as male I wouldn't assume they were.

Interesting view. What`s making you think this?

Dragons seem to me one of the most masculine creatures you can find. Let`s see why...

1. Deep throaty voice\roar. Typically masculine. I find their roar very masculine. Although there is a hint of feminine in there.
2. Very violent. Typically masculine.
3. Big. Typically masculine.
4. Ugly. A masculine sign.
5. Extremely dominant. A masculine trait.

I can`t see why a long neck would make them all female. I suppose you`re thinking of the `artistic long neck of a woman in pictures and such? That`s certainly not enough to assume Dragons are all female. Swans are male and female, giraffes are male and female.

I have also read many books on Dragons and they are often referred to as `He`. In fact, many stories have Dragons falling in love with beautiful Human Maidens. Others have them eating them.

Anyway, their six is really a diversion from the fact that ALL Dragons, of both sixes see Man (men and women for those of you who don`t understand what I mean by Man) as beneath them and inferior. The agression of any Dragon is to teach the puny, foolish human a lesson in instant death. The dragon will be violently aggressive to anyone Human whether its male or female, so six doesn`t come into it because it`ll generally make no difference to your survival in most cases.

SNIP

And also because dragons have no six. They are neither male nor female.

So nobody would object over me modding in HHH cups for every female and distributing it over Skyrim Nexus? Cool.

1. Lions... even the females roar very loudly.
2. You've never met my wife.
3. In mammals, yes. In several other species the female is bigger than the male.
4. Ugly animals are ugly, regardless of gender.
5. In men, it depends on society and culture. Among animals there are examples that the reverse is also true.

Wrong, actually. In TES II: Daggerfall, there was a monster called a "Dragonling", and it was a baby dragon capable of breathing fire (Bastard's had alot of hitpoints/armor too). You could even learn the "Dragonish" language skill to pacify them. So Dragons obviously do reproduce if Dragonlings exist.

Hmmm, just read that in-game book, and it's still fishy. I don't think it was coincidence that Dragonlings could not only breathe fire, but could also speak.

There are both male and female dragons.

It's just hard to see the difference for anyone who doesn't know very much about dragon anotomy, and so they were given the same model ingame.

you're looking for gender in a game. Notice:

-trolls are genderless

-sabercats are genderless (I'm sure a male would perhaps be smaller or there would be differences in fur present)

-wolves are genderless (though don't know the difference in RL either)

-bears are genderless (though don't know the difference in RL either)

the only dual gendered npcs in the game are draughr and the living races.

don't get bent out of shape over the dragons. They're the children of Akatosh, so they can't reproduce (have YOU ever come across ancient dragon breeding grounds? No? Only dragon graves? Precisely.) Sure, Alduin is described as "male", largely through the reference as a brother, BUT, keep in mind that this may be an interpretation to help understand Alduin because there may not be a word or a different word to describe him in dragonspeak.

kind of like Arabic has several words utterly alien to English. words that have no english equivalent.

I haven't seen any traders that sell "female" supplies.

Hence, all dragons and giants are male.
