No. They won't release it. Period. There's absolutely no need for a post-ending DLC. Obsidian has made that clear.

Let me spell it out:

YOU HAVE FREE PLAY. RIGHT UP UNTIL THE END OF THE GAME.

Please please please stop crying about this. Your wishes will not be granted, your petitions will not be heard, your disappointment will know no bounds. This, if for no reason other than the fact that people like me, who don't believe the world will come to an end when the game ends, will oppose the idea. Most of us genuinely don't see anything resembling a problem with an ending to a game.

And then some of us are just trolls...or both.

Something I -and many others- agree with.

Obsidian chose to end the game because they had a story to tell. Not like Fallout 3 which though a decent enough game, was mostly one set piece after another.

Granted, but developers have lied since the dawn of time, and are known to misdirect attention to wow the public with surprises up their sleeves. Do I think this will happen? No. But to deny that demand from the public for something as simple as even on open-end PATCH, not necessarily a DLC even, seems almost like poor salesmanship. Granted they have a pre-defined product and no obligation to change it, but as the point was raised regarding lack of in-game changes after missions, there is no necessity for the post-end gameworld to change all that much, though I would want that to happen. Honestly, four changes regarding the presence/power of factions, two of which have very few followers, seems paltry.

Regardless, all respect to those who don't want a post-end, but I do. :brokencomputer:

Meh. I kinda think that Obsidian should just release a patch that includes Freeplay after the end, with a text box that says "The game is over. You may now continue to roam the Mojave, with the caveat that none of your actions from this point on will affect the story, and that this freeplay option is just an easter egg." Just to appease the people bleating for FP after the end. Sorta like FO2's freeplay option.

And just like FO2's freeplay option, it will end up being pointless, because the lion's share of interesting stuff to do is quests that affect the ending.

But seriously, why are people so eager to have freeplay? I don't understand. Beyond the fact that the game warns you with a huge unskippable message box that the game is about to end, and you're supposed to tie up your affairs in the Mojave, there's simply not enough dungeons and similar areas in New Vegas to explore to make freeplay after the end worthwhile. Most everything to do in NV is quest related, unless you get mods like A World of Pain or IWS.

Is it just that people want Lanius' sword and helmet? (I'd personally hold out for the briastplate myself...)
