Future Weapon Types?

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 1:12 am

I was wanting to know if there are any plans on introducing new weapon types in future DLC?

I am not talking about new swords, axes, bows, ext. I mean like whips, spells or staffs that do physicall damage.

I was playing SoulCaliber and some of the weapons they have on there would be really cool to have in skyrim (even though I know sould would be really hard to put in the game like the bladed hula hoop)

And I already know about crossbows.

Aside from crossbows I don't think anybody except BGS knows.

Wow that video did have some cool stuff on it. That spear was kind of what I was thinking when I said staff with physical damage. I was thinking that putting in new weapon types might not be possible because of making the new animations but if someone could do it with the spear in 1 week then I really hope this is something thye start or have been working on for DLC.

And after you have thrown it and missed, Maiq asks; How you will find it again? Or does one intend to carry hundreds of these "throwing daggers"?

They could be like arrows just not so many of them. But I would just like to have thrown Items even if it is just apples. Oh and traps too.

Throwable weapons were underwhelming in Morrowind. So were crossbows. I wouldn't be particularly excited to see either in DLC.

Yeah, I agree with a bunch of the previous posts, I've hoped for spears since I saw the dev video. I think they'd be a really cool addition, along with the Giant Enemy Mudcrab.

As long as the weapons are not "out of place" or very outlandish like in many games nowadays, then I'm happy.

What flail?

Anyway, here is what I want, in addition to crossbows

Polearms (includes halbierds, pikes, and lances, they would also have to add mounted combat fo the lastone)
Throwing weapons (includes throwing spears, slings)
Staffs (2 handed, I'd reclassify the current staffs as wands)

If they could add those three catagories, I think skyrim would have enough in terms of weapon variety, any more than that would be nice, but not necassary.

PS. I would also like to see battering rams, maybe not for the player to use, but, you know, just for decoration around military fortification and stuff.

Except the spring darts in Tribunal. Those darts did more damage than a daedric Battleaxe. Too bad there was so few of them though, and the only way to get more was 1 respawning Black Dart gang member I think.

I could imagine running up to Alduin or a giant just to see how they would react.

I had forgotten about those. I kept them all as collectables in my "home".

Ha! Throwing rocks.

I was thinking more like a sling, like this

I probably should have clarified, anyway, this was the first throwing weapon

Oh good, I'll take flails in place of whips, very similar in my opinion

I know people hate this idea but I think they should have primitive civil war type guns in skyrim. I mean is it that unrealistic for this game? They can build a giant killer robot that shoots lasers out of its eyes but we cant have guns? I mean since this game prides itself on realism 200 years should be more then enough time for their technology to advance.
