Game Sound Tracks

I love Jeremy's work on IceWind Dale... but I just got Skyrim today and I think its soundtrack kicks IceWind Dale's soundtrack's rear end. Jeremy Soule's outdone himself, in my strong opinion.

I mostly agree so far (though Icewind Dale is still better) though I've only been playing since yesterday. I like Soule's use of choral music a few times too, and the music when my character was in the mountains was Wagnerian somehow. A lot of the time, the Skyrim soundtrack is unobtrusive though. (I like the ambient sound in the game too, like in the tomb my character is currently exploring; the sound of wind through the tunnels, a waterfall, and more.)

Vice City is my favorite soundtrack, although it might not count since it's real music and not composed for the game.

(same with Civilization 4. Excellent soundtrack but it's real music, not composed for the game)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79fiV5SqZRM on the Sega Genesis has a great soundtrack, so great it was released on a CD, which back in 1990-91 was unheard of.

Morrowind is great.

I love http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAlMaVYIzqw's frontend. It's so powerful.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kfq4H6Ouqdc (starting at 1:03 especially) and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=layjWs2IpS4 are my favorite from that excellent soundtrack. Harrogath is so good I can see it in a movie, like Conan The Barbarian.

Rome:TW was indeed excellent, and I like the two Shogun:TW game soundtracks too (Shogun 2 used much of the same music from the first Shogun though). But one of my favorite Jeremy Soule pieces is the Rebel Camp theme from "Hordes of the Underdark": http://youtu.be/r46yzCB82kA
It seems like great "exploration" music.

Another good Jeremy Soule track: http://youtu.be/eFoaFw0MqMY

Now that Skyrim's out, these are no longer considered leaks:

There's also just so many different soundtracks for all types of occasions. Variety-wise and quality-wise, I'm very happy with Skyrim's soundtrack. :D
