Gametrailers Interview

New interview with Chris Avellone called http://www.gametrailers.com/video/new-features-fallout-new/702867

Most of it is info we already know about, but there's a few new little tidbits like the size of the Strip and an explanation of the kind of easter eggs you'll find.

Oh, and there's a new animation shown: vomiting. How lovely! :D

There's another interview with Chris Avellone, but it's not really related to New Vegas -- it is more about Van Buren.

Gah, I was watching it and was just about to post a thread. But you beat me to it. :P

Anyways, this was pretty cool. Anyone catch the New Vegas Menu?

I think the vomiting displayed there qualifies as "explosive".

Could you possibly paraphrase what was said about the size of the strip? :D My soundcard is currently borked.

At least roughly the size of 4 Megatons. The city from Fallout 3, that is.

Basically he said it was really big and there's lot to do. Chris claimed it was bigger than 4 Megatons... but the way he said it made it seem like it was much bigger than 4 Megatons. :P

About 4 Megatons he said. :/

From those clips the AI seems painfully stupid, I hope they can fix that before release.

I agree. I cringed watching the Legion dudes either run towards the NCR Troopers without unsheathing their weapons, or in the case of one, just standing there whilst being shot. <_<

Megatons everywhere!

Also, looks like a lot of that footage was from the E3 demo, so the AI probably has probably changed.

The animation of the NCR trooper being sick on the wall. It's near the beginning. Looked like he puked up about 10 gallons of the stuff.

10 gallons of GLOWING vomit, at that!

He also called NV a sequel. That's sure to stir up some old arguments. Really it's just semantics, calling it a sequel vs spin-off. I guess they're fighting the opinion that it's just an expansion to Fallout3.

Sawyer has already stated that new vegas is essentially a spiritual sequal to fo 2, seems more of an indication of where the story picks up than anything else. By that I mean the continuation of the westcoast factions, and the story of ncr's expansion.

Personally, I just call it 'a new Fallout game'.

I got a bit confused in this interview, though. Chris said something along the lines of 'you won't really see any references to Fallout 1 and 2 without the Wild Wasteland trait', but I don't see how that can be true -- we've already got Marcus, after all. I thought the Wild Wasteland trait just gave me pop culture references.

Marcus isn't really a reference, he will play an equal part in this game than he does in FO2. Even though it would be weird if he didn't even talk about FO2 if you ask him about himself.

Oh, you know what I mean. :P I'm just surprised Chris didn't mention it, is all. And yeah, he should definitely talk about his past, simply because it is actually really interesting, and the guy doing VA for him is REALLY good at being Marcus.

Now that I think about it, did Chris mean the Strip was bigger than 4 Megatons, or the city of Vegas itself? If it's just the city, that's a bit meh, IMO. Don't get me wrong, over 4 Megatons is still pretty big, but I was hoping something matching D.C...

Meh, it sounds cool and everything, but I'm not sure it is something I want on my first game save. I'll probably pick it on my second run through.

There's references to Fallout 1 and 2, but things outside of the Fallout universe will be activated with Wild Wasteland. Like for instance in Fallout 2 if you shot Dogmeat before he joined your party, a guy named Mel would appear out of nowhere and start attacking you. That was a reference to Mad Max.
