Ghosts Look Terrible

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 5:16 am

Morrowind`s ghost are best. I still remeber the first time I saw a ghost in Morrowind in a dungeon I was like, "What was that? Did I see what I just thought I saw?"

They actually looked weird and scary and a bit hard to see like what you might expect a real ghost to look like.

In Skyrim they`re just silly, like Bethesda didn`t want to scare anyone.

They should also be immune to normal weapons. I hate this dumbing down. People learn soon enough to use a silver sword or magically enchanted weapon . It just screws with another cool enemy. What`s the point of having ghosts if they`re just like regular people?

I really liked the tomb noises in Morrowind also. All that creepy kind of whispering.

They look like ghosts?

Don't agree with the fact that they can be decapitated and killed with any weapon though. Was good in OB and MW in that you needed a magic or silver weapon.

I really liked their look also. I'd prefer they stay unique but somethin closer to them for ghosts would be beeter than the ethereal normals.

i like the etheral figurative ghosts more than ob sheets but the lack of needing a magical source of damn = unfortunitly more proof of dumbing down, after all who wants to be prepared or challenged... :(
The worst part is the solid loot, it would be cool if there bodys where etheral but the armour and weapon wasnt and fell to the floor once they have been dispersed(killed(again)lol) but that is not the case and ypu should have just got ectoplasm and maybe on rare ocasions those ghost weapons those are quite cool, shame they only come in ancient nord pattern.

/\ i wish patches and dlc fixed stuff like this /\

My only problem with the new ghosts is the way you can loot solid armor and weapons off them when they clearly are not when they're worn.

Well, that and the way you grap them for finishing moves, just like you do with corporeal enemies.
That's because you can grab a ghost just as easily as another ghost can. The reason you can't see your "own" ghost is because it lines up with your body. A Body without a Soul is a corpse. A Soul without a Body is a ghost. A Body with a Soul is a person. When you smack a ghost, that's your Soul smacking them, not your body. Your soul also extends through your weapon, allowing you to cut them with sub-par materials.

However, they needed to do better to fix the loot/vampire feeding/soul trap issues. (Make the loot Ethereal too?)

Want to find ghosts?

Try Ysgramor's Tomb, which is part of the Companions questline. Plenty of ghosts there.

Ghost don't look too bad. What I really don't like about them is the fact that they're no longer immune to normal weapons.

How do you define a real ghost anyway.
They are made of marshmallows.

I wouldn't expect a real ghost to look like a floating translucent skeleton wearing a cerimonial robe. :P (IMHO)

Yo momma looks terrible.

Oh yeah, I went there.

I love your avatar.... Please don't ever chang it

I agrre that dealing with ghosts should need a magic or silver weapon BUT I think they look just fine for ghosts. The decapitation I disagree with but again it doesn't really bother me much.

I also find it a bit ridiculous when I grab their shoulder and thrust my blade into their stomachs.

here is a pic of the corrupted shade http://images.wikia.com/elderscrolls/images/7/72/Corrupted_shade.png again i say these should have been ghosts with some variance in armor or even some suedo faces.
I would love the ghosts to be like this, only in a spectral blue-white shade instead of the black. They look awesome

That's the best they could come up with? Give me a break.

What's wrong with ghosts looking like themselves when they were alive? I do agree that those shouldn't have been the only ghost types in the game, aside from those I've only seen but in the wiki some time ago (they protect someone's shrine, or are related to one of the daedric quests, solved it in-game yet).

Thats the least of their problems mainly the fact that it's a ghost yet you can cut it with a iron sword and cut their heads off but yes they do look very bad.

I prefered the oblivion mechanic where you needed a magical or at least silver weapon to even damage a ghost or supernatural creature.

They could have given ghosts some effects like a shifting transparency, extra fog and a modified ambient lighting. They really are just a transparent and monochrome version of the original model currently.

There is one cave in the game where one encounters a whisp mother (quest for the Pale Lady) and where the entire ambient lighting had changes. That was the first time I thought ghosts looked good.
