I will get both because I have been playing COD since COD4 and I still really enjoy it.

Im debating between bf3 and mw3. I played bf3 beta and honestly besides setting your gun to semi or full i dont see the big hype. The environments arent destructible. I dont like vehicles. I like that mw3 keep some of the old tradition alive with its arcady elements. Anyone who thinks their tougher or mature are being silly imo. Its a military shooter, were you pretend your some tough guy with a faux hawk and can take 5 bullets. So when it comes down to it, I feel like mw3 was more fun based on what i saw of the single player (friend). Atleast until the people that developed COD come out with their own new game, and that will probably rock the house. Until then, I feel like BF3 innovations bother me more than immerse/engage me. I do like their song though, really gets you pumped after a multiplayer win. So i dont know, if anyone has opinions on the matter, let me know and maybe ill make a decision.
Battlefield 3 has pretty decent destruction in the full release. If you don't like vehicles...then yeah don't even consider BF3. There's nothing quite like flying a jet and doing strafing runs on the other team while your buddy pilots an attack chopper and destroys their tanks, though.
Also of note: I play on PC. 64 players and 60FPS = Amazing. I wouldn't consider playing it on console though.

EDIT: also teamwork is much, much more important in BF3. Every squad needs a good medic and support to keep them up and running. Not to mention the ability of squad specs.
Also, weapon customization is better handled in BF3. Each gun has three distinct parts (IE the rail, barrel, etc.) which you can add parts to. No need to have a silly arbitrary perk to put more than one attachment on a gun.

You bought the kinect like I bought the Xbox 360... for a single title. I, on the otherhand, bought for Halo 3. You bought for the slim chance that maybe the developers made it Kinect-compatible? That doesn't sound logical.

I swear to god, he's trolling. He's just really, really good (or bad) at it.

ITT: people patting themselves on the back for joining in the "bash on COD/COD fans" bandwagon. (protip - that's "conforming" too.)

disclaimer - haven't bought a WW2/modern shooter since the first CoD and Medal of Honor.

I'm not conforming, I'm just sad Infinity Ward has forgotten what made Call of Duty 1,2, and 4 so good. I'm interested to see what West and Zampella are up to over at EA though.

Personally, I did enjoy CoD. Before I saved up enough for Skyrim, I spent most of my play-time on MW2. I stopped playing last night, because of MW3 of course. Now my dad wants to get two copies of MW3, but I could care less about it. So I took the money he was going to use on my copy of MW3 and pre-ordered Skyrim. That was my initial post, not to bash on CoD. And you have to admit, Skyrim is going to be worth the wait.

Why all the hate for MW3? Im getting both bc I like both, but I will stop playing once 1200 thurs comes

Personally I'm just sick of hearing about it. Not innovative in the slightest. Just your typical multiplayer FPS with shiny graphics and a lot of hype.

PC player here as well obviously. The possibility of a console didnt even cross my mind so I didnt bring it up. But yeah, I did enjoy the squad tactics a bit in the sense of running around being a medic is fun. However, tactics? really? cause basically most online fps games turn into TDM.
Is there alot of destruction? I mean in the beta there was that one wall by the first bomb, which doesnt really count in my mind. and the edges of the pillar in the subway. thats it..compared to the single player of I think...bad company there wasnt much at all.
I do like weapon customization though. So two more questions. If i dont like vehicles..are there no vehicle maps like in the beta? more of them i mean. also are there smaller maps? I dont like running for 15 seconds haha. I enjoy twitch gameplay as well as tactics, and I dont see them as being completely mutually exclusive. Second question, when is it coming out on STEAM? haha I dont support another company trying to install their [censored] on my computer.

I'm still in high school. But a majority of the population here goes to CMU. MW3 hit this town like a sandstorm. Last night, there were a few accidents of drunk college kids on the way home from the midnight release. Kind of baffled me.

I went to one of them MW3 midnight releases.
I didn't get the game because I'm saving for the Skyrim CE.
It was kinda horrible. It smelled strongly of BO and Virgins (Not the good kind)......Most of them where stoned......and next to none of theme even knew what Skyrim was...Kinds sad.

It won't be coming out on steam sadly :( I too hate having to use Origin, but it's only for one game so...yeah.

There is definitely more destruction than in the beta, (some buildings can be completely leveled, some other's can only be partially destroyed). Back to Karkrand maps are going to have total destruction I hear.
There are DEFINITELY tactics, yes. It's impossible to win if your team is a bunch of scatterbrained doo-doos who grab the first jet they see and fly it into the ground, but I've been in squads where we have single handedly won the match for us by having an excellent chopper pilot who helped us steal all their flags from behind (and then held our ground against 2 tanks and an attack chopper!).
You can choose to play Infantry Only servers (although on certain maps, they add in jeeps because of the size...it's not that big of a deal though), but honestly, it just isn't the same. I used to play Infantry Only in 2142 a lot, but playing with vehicles in bf3 is definitely more fun for me. If you know someone with the game on PC, just try driving a tank or APC around! I know a few people who hate vehicles but happen to be the best tank drivers around /wink.

EDIT: The maps also have different versions that scale based on: player size, and mode. In general, Rush maps aren't as vehicle heavy.
And the gunplay in release feels much better than the beta, but that could be due to the connection or whatnot.

I'm only freezing my ass off in Arizona...but it's all gonna be worth it in 2 days!
I know right? We live in a freaking desert and we are freezing our asses off! How the freaking hell does that make sense?

On-Topic: I never planned to get any other games this month prior to Skyrim, so I'm happy either way. Getting Skyrim and then Skyward Sword on the 20th, then the year is pretty much over for me games wise.

The only games I'd hoped to acquire were Dead Island and Skyrim. First I got Dead Island, but then I couldn't afford Skyrim. So I traded in Dead Island for Skyrim... I hope it's the game of the year they said it'd be.

Whereas I mostly read RPG forums & news sites. So the vast majority of "sick of hearing about it" is the constant stream of "We're so much better and more sophisticated than those brainless/moron/etc CoD sheep." It's especially silly in the case of this forum - Skyrim's got 3mil+ preorders. It's just as mainstream, we're not some unique snowflakes who're part of the "in" crowd.

Out of ALL the games, Skyrim is the only one that I actually care about and really love, no matter the reviews. I love the Uncharted series and even then, it doesn't even compare to my passion for TES. Not even a little.

I don't understand this 'one or the other' attitude rolling around. I've got BF3, and getting Skyrim and MW3 as soon as I finish my exam on friday. I love rpgs, but I alos enjoy playing fps every now and then... I just can't play for longer than 45 minutes at a time as it gets repetitive. I alternate between fps and rpg when I'm gaming

Conforming isn't always a bad thing. Otherwise we would have chaos. But more on point is that you made a wise decision. MW3 may be more accessible to new gamers, but TES is a thinkin mans/womans series.
Plus MW3 is MW2 but with a few new perks. I've even heard that the menus are the same.

Also, freezing in Arizona? Come up Detroit ways and we'll show ya cold.

I'm probably alone on this, but I'm waiting for Black Friday so I can pick up Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3.
I'm a huge fighting game nerd, so I HAVE to pick it up and start learning all the characters...while playing Skyrim at the same time.
