Glad I'm waiting for the better title

I fell in love with the original CoD MW for the PC. But then I bought a 360 with Black Ops, and the love has since faded. The real big turn off for me with CoD was the hyper-competitive nature of its online multiplayer on console (I guess it's the norm for modern FPS's now). Also, after awhile the maps started appearing rather generic; no thought put into their design whatsoever other than so players could blow each other into oblivion with missile strikes.

.... Skyrim FTW!!

I give major props to anyone with the willpower to not overspend on games this month, lol its bloody nuts for games this year. Id be a very sad person indeed if I didnt live in a house full of gamers.

Whereas I mostly read RPG forums & news sites. So the vast majority of "sick of hearing about it" is the constant stream of "We're so much better and more sophisticated than those brainless/moron/etc CoD sheep." It's especially silly in the case of this forum - Skyrim's got 3mil+ preorders. It's just as mainstream, we're not some unique snowflakes who're part of the "in" crowd.

Going to start my NG+ on Dark Souls soon(having an absolute blast as a strictly melee character) and I had never played Demon Souls, been playing MW3 most of the day with my brother and having a blast(teamwork always > lemmings), and Ive had Skyrim pre-ordered(PC version) since last year and have been an avid TES fan since Morrowind. Morrowind got me into PC gaming, which is ironic because the first time I played it was on the original Xbox.

I do get kind of get sick of being labeled a stupid 13(Im 24, lol) year old just because I like the games that I like because I like them, like Modern War. Its cool to hate on CoD these days.

Skyrim deserves it's recognition. MW3 doesn't.

I could lock you in my deep freezer. Surely you don't want to argue over who has the harshest temperature...

I know right? We live in a freaking desert and we are freezing our asses off! How the freaking hell does that make sense?

On-Topic: I never planned to get any other games this month prior to Skyrim, so I'm happy either way. Getting Skyrim and then Skyward Sword on the 20th, then the year is pretty much over for me games wise.

Its ridiculous I tells ya. You tell people that you live in Arizona and they expect cacti and sand. Its perfect Coat and scarf weather outside! (Of course safford is at a higher elevation than Phoenix but still.)

Also On-Topic: Skyrim is my first priority for the month But I might get Saints Row: The Third to mix things up a little.

Also, freezing in Arizona? Come up Detroit ways and we'll show ya cold.

I live in Jackson, MI, and it is uncomfortably hot for this time of year. I don't know what's up with this weather, but it is doing funky things to our state's game. If you can go hunting with a long sleeve shirt on in November, it isn't cold.

In Arizona we literally flipped a switch over a week. Last week we had the AC on and sweating like beasts, this week we have the heating on and freezing our ass off.

I'm glad I was never a kid.

Shooters for me stop at Halo. I went from Goldeneye 007 (N64) to Halo 3 to Borderlands. No way I could get into those generic army ones. Skyrim is indeed the better title. :-)

BAHH cod modren warfare got old with balk ops last year little sick of it. dont mind tellin you i been playing battlefeld 3 with my army buddys, was going to look forward to skyrim this week but since its been revealed no kinect support its oing straight to garbrage.

Dude seriously nowhere in any of the preview videos or magazine articles did it say Kinect was ever going to be supported in Skyrim not even hinted at or alluded to. And by the way. People still play games on PC. A whole 7 million people do. And if you don't believe me go look at the stats for MMORPG's like WoW or even look at how many people have bought Minecraft. I don't particularly care for WoW but even I admit that it has a rather large player-base. Which is 100% PC. And I don't even have to point to Steam for proof. That should already be a given.

You're living in a delusional state of mind if you think PC gaming is dead.

Mate, its gotta be a lot more than 7 million people -- in America alone, let alone worldwide. Just sayin' :-)

I actually overwhelmed myself. First I got oblivion the I decided I'll pick up dead island, then I said I need bf3 right after that uncharted had to be started then today I saw one copy of mw3 hardened and I figured Id save the money and grab that and get a year of elite so I can play with friends.

I'm taking my time with oblivion and doing it the right way instead of rushing through the story. Dead island had a bad save glitch for the first 2 weeks so I got behind on that, still need to finish it, no rush, game is fun to play but nothing incredible. Bf3 is almost best but I ran into a pretty bad glitch and lost over 2 hours of gameplay, I'll beat it before skyrim comes out. Uncharted I played 8 hrs straight and almost beat i, I'll finish that befor skyrim. Mw3 haven't started it but I'll play it here and there while playing skyrim, like I said mainly picked it up for the deal. Oh and I can't forget Rage, I grabbed that also but I'm done, decent game, great graphics but story lacked. Also I messed around with fallout 3 in between all this finishing up the dlc. I can never get tired of fallout.

I know I really got a ton of games but I'm close to beating them all so it worked out good. The only one I would recommend playing before skyrim(oblivion and fallout should always be played) is uncharted, probably the best game I've ever played or at least played in a long time, if you have the time in the next two days I would grab it, you won't want to put it down.

I really wanted my plate to be empty come skyrim but there were way to many great games to be played. I couldn't miss out, I knew when skyrim came I wouldn't buy these games do I did it before. I think it'll be good to have a change every once in a while. I know all us are gonna play the heck out of skyrim but for me I like a little change up from time to time, especially I get frustrated or stuck. The only other games I need to play is brotherhood and the new Assasins. I missed out on brotherhood so I need to get that one under my belt l, great story, need to see what's going on with ezio.

Edit. I'll probably get Saints row 3 just for fun to play with my fiancé. Not sure if I'll still be playing skyrim when gta v comes out by after seeing the new video that on my list for sure. Honestly it sound like I have a ton of money just to waist away but believe me I did what I had to for these games. Worked extra and longer hours. I will not be buying any games in the next year besides the couple I mentioned. Whoops almost forgot I had bought back to the future series a while ago and still need to finish it. Favorite movie ever besides goodfellas and goonies. Okay I should stop typing and play a game so I can be clear headed for skyrim.

I hope it does something similar here. Though, woodsman activities will decline significantly with Skyrim in hand. It's a shame really; winters here are beautiful but tolerable.

I'm in a games development class where no one likes Call of Duty anymore due to its repetitive nature so everyone is talking about Skyrim! :D

The first COD games were fantastic. Sadly, it took me till Black OPS to figure out how bad it's got. I think it would be nice if they followed that same "war reenactment" feel of those earlier titles, but have it span the entire history of warfare. At least something that requires more than 9-12 months of development time...Anyway, Skyrim is just the better game, but it's a matter of taste.

Going to end up for both. My brother purchased MW3 and I'm getting Skyrim. I'm not much for FPS's but I have to say I'm actually fairly impressed. The game is beautiful and pretty photo realistic. Almost too much, the glare from light sources is a bit annoying at times. But I like the style of fire fighting in the game and it reminds me more of actual combat training than the CoD line. I think the game needed a feature for Multiplayer to have games where people are all around the same rank as it's a little annoying to not have access to much while fighting people with all kinds of useful tactical equipment. That and the tactical light is a little too good though it's getting nerfed soon.

After Thursday though it's going to have to sit in the case gathering dust.

I've been taking note of all of the MW3 players who bought it today, and I'm happy to say that I now know waiting for Skyrim is going to pay off. Obviously, some people are going to buy both. But I feel like I'm speaking for myself and the rest of the 99% when I say that since I was strapped on cash, I'm glad I waited for the better title to come out rather than be a conforming CoD prosttute.
I can't wait until I'm splitting the skull of a dragon. Sure is going to beat shooting the same gun for the 8th time in a different place.

I hope the "COD prosttutes"wallets have been dented enough and are occupied enough to not show up to Gamestop for Skyrims midnight release , hoping for a small line

My only slight regret is that I can't get both Cave Story 3D and Skyrim. I'm a HUGE fan of Cave Story. In fact out of all the indie games I've played (including Minecraft) I still say it's the best I've played. But... Skryim vs Cave Story? It's a no contest.
Spoiler
It's Skyrim. Skyrim all the way.

I think it's very nice looking but almost TOO realistic. Some of the lighting effects are a little too disruptive.

Im debating between bf3 and mw3. I played bf3 beta and honestly besides setting your gun to semi or full i dont see the big hype. The environments arent destructible. I dont like vehicles. I like that mw3 keep some of the old tradition alive with its arcady elements. Anyone who thinks their tougher or mature are being silly imo. Its a military shooter, were you pretend your some tough guy with a faux hawk and can take 5 bullets. So when it comes down to it, I feel like mw3 was more fun based on what i saw of the single player (friend). Atleast until the people that developed COD come out with their own new game, and that will probably rock the house. Until then, I feel like BF3 innovations bother me more than immerse/engage me. I do like their song though, really gets you pumped after a multiplayer win. So i dont know, if anyone has opinions on the matter, let me know and maybe ill make a decision.

BF3 beta was horrible. Bad map to show how Battlefield is played and lots of bugs/lag. Operation Metro is one of the few maps that doesn't have any destructible buildings, but it wouldnt work on a map like that anyway. And if you don't like vehicles (and by that i assume you mean using them) all maps are fun even without using vehicles (imo). I mostly use them as transport on bigger maps like Caspian border.
In the end it all comes down to your preferences: Do you like a fast paced arcade shooter with small maps OR do you like more tactical warfare type of game with huge maps and lots of vehicles(still very good infantry gameplay)?
