Has anyone gotten married yet?

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 2:45 am

I got married to Uthgerd the Unbroken that butt ugly nord chick in steal armor that can follow you too, she was in that tavern/bar whatever in Whiterun where she asks you to fist fight her. So now shes my wedded byotch and my follower. Her house is great for storage and she has a store which (not sure what store haven't been back to Whiterun yet) but every day I can select "has the store made any money yet" option and she'll say here's your half and usually forks over 200 to 400 gold every time. I think I've gotten 10k total from her so far. I equipped her with a Dwarven Shield and an ancient nord axe that's enchanted with frost that I picked up off some baddie. She's really good in combat unless there's lots of enemies at once or if it's against a stronger magic enemy. There is a glitch where she can vanish from the game all together on the xbox 360 but I haven't come across that yet and even if she does disappear it won't matter because the follower and marriage tag get removed so you can go marry someone else and get another follower.

I marry Ysolda early on. She has her own house with a chest and wardrobe I use. Costs me nothing, unless I"m unlucky and have to buy the amulet of Mara.

Actually, Taarie at Radiant Raiments in Solitude is listed as a marriable NPC in the strategy guide. I think there is a bug there though, as the marriage options don't show up with her after completing her favor. :(

Odd, she was an option for me. Maybe it's because I invested in her business?

Personally, I'm looking for a single Nord male, preferably who owns a shop or a jarl, maybe a blacksmith ; P

Aela is fooling everyone with her makeup. This is what she looks like with it removed via console:

How do you use the console to remove their face paint.

I can not choose between Lydia and Aela. So I decided to marry them both. How? Well, I had a Bosmer ceremony with Lydia. Then we talked to Aela. She wants a traditional Skyrim marriage. I am currently courting her and will soon ask her. Then we will all live in my Whiterun home. And yes, Aela and Lydia like each other. They had a fling many years back. :hubbahubba:

I haven't, but that's because Idgrod the Younger is the only woman I'm interested in, and she isn't available.

No. I actually got the Amulet of Mara pretty early on, and planned on using it. That was over 60 hours of gameplay ago... because honestly, I have found about six women so far that I would want to marry, and you can't marry a damn single one of them! Absolutely absurd. You should honestly be able to marry any one in the game. But I guess Bethesda has decided in its infinite wisdom that you can only marry a select few. There list of possibilities pretty much stinks. Bad enough that they make the whole "relationship" thing so weak: "Do you like me? Yes... Well do you like me? Yes. Then it's settled... let's get married" LOL... even though they made it so bad, I was still looking forward to settling down with some "hot" maiden in the game... but NOOOOOO... most of them look like they have had their faces smashed in a dozen times and turned sideways.

Due to the simple way to "court" people, where you just do one favor for them and they will want to marry you, some of them can be hilarious.

Remember that nord woman in the tavern in Whiterun? The one that wanted to have a brawl with you, and if you win, she can then be a follower?

Well that's all that I did in order to be able to marry her. The conversations were just a matter of:

Nord woman: "Hey, I like you. You like me?"
Me: "I like you."
Nord woman: "Good, let's get married."

The hilarious simplicity aside, which should only be reserved for one night stands rather than a lifelong commitment, keep in mind that she "likes" me only after I beat her.

Basically Skyrim is promoting spousal abuse. :P

It's all about Hroki through console commands. Even got her added to follower factions so I can pimp her out in forsworn armor. Damn I love the PC.

Thank man, that may be it. I had sort of assumed that her favor was wearing the Radiant Raiment clothes in front of the Jarl, but you may be correct in that you also have to invest in her business. Maybe she's not the prettiest of the marriageable NPC's, but she's statuesque and I sort of like her haughty attitude. Of course though I have a ways to go before my speech is up to the point of being able to invest. Still in all, I will probably take Njada, Mjoll, or Temba over Taarie. And of course I've thus far only met the one Redguard Priestess of Dibella. I understand that there are two more hiding in that temple. ;)

I was happy to hear we could get married. I wanted to marry Cynric or Sven. Sadly i couldn't, so I just settled for the drunk Cognasch or something like that.

My female nord char married Jordis, a house carl. It was every bit as lame as I expected but the "general merchant" feature was too tempting.

Yeah, you may be right in that the much ballyhooed in-game marriage may be a case of much ado about nothing, but I will still of course try it for myself. Practically speaking, it seems to me that the more multidimensional (i.e. follower, merchant, alchemist, mage, etc.) and talkative the NPC is, the better the marriage simulation will work. Still in all, it has been fun making the marriage search sort of an ongoing side quest where I make a point of searching for all the marriageable ladies and completing their favors, then deciding at some point which one I like the best. The journey may be more satisfying than the destination. ;)

BTW, concerning Jordis, again, I think the housecarls are rather boring. "Yes my thane, glory to you my thane." and so on.

Also, I've been totally avoiding the main quest this time around. I don't want those dratted dragons inadvertently killing off any of the marriageable NPC's. ;)

Klawed Flaw(the game character. Not me.) would love to marry Aela... Oh wait, she'd find out he is an avid reader of the Lusty Argonian Maid.

I've been questing quite a bit with Njada Stonearm, my favorite of the three Companion marriageable 'babes'. I dunno, but I don't think I like her as much as I thought I would. As marriageable questing followers go I like Mjoll and Janessa a lot better. Mjoll can hold her own all against all but the toughest opponents, even against some bosses. Janessa is great to take along on stealth missions. Also, did anyone notice that Janessa is wearing Nightingale armor? :)

They're called 'tavern clothes', and I've found them out and about in the world before. Good hunting. :P

I married Vilkas, but it was after much agonizing. I really wanted to marry Jon Battle-Born, but he's apparently taken ("Babette! Fix this!" "Sure, Listener!"). And I entertained the idea of marrying Hadvar, but meh. As I feared, marrying him kind of wrecked his personality, so next time I play a female, I'll go with someone who's already demure, like... I dunno, Osmund or something. When I play my male Breton next, I'm probably going for Hroki, but we'll see. Wonder if he could steal Balgruuf's housecarl away? Hmm.

Actually, eyecover, you can marry anyone, provided their disposition towards you is high enough.
