Has this game ever genuinely scared you?

I still remember falling out of my chair the first time I heard thunder while playing Morrowind. Man that was awesome.

With Skyrim, I don't know, either I'm getting used to the stuff games throw at you or it just doesn't do a very good job of catching you off guard. Maybe a trap here or there might have surprised me a little, but nothing like that first thunderbolt in Morrowind.

after playing a thief/assassin who could sneak through most dungeons without much difficulty I was on my warrior and a Falmer stealthed up onto me and made me audible in my room. I really didn't see him there until he was on me and they make the worst possible damn noises. ugh...

mostly in this game it's about the "ewwww, gross" moments for me, though.

like the dead flesh gal under Markarth... her text is something right out of nightmares I haven't even had yet. "probably accidentaly, like a loved one" ick... grody... omgosh... *shudder*

Startled, yes. A good example was a time I was exploring out in the Reach. I stopped on a hilltop, and heard footsteps running up behind me. I turned around thinking it was Lydia, and had a sabercat right in my face.

Actually honest-to-gods scared? Not even close. I've never gotten to the level of immersion that it stops being anything but a game for me. Which is sad really.

Bears.

The sound they make frightens me -shudders-

LOL This video is for you! How to deal with Bears in Skyrim! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-CS8L_8LBk

The Marshes outside Solitude scare me! I am running around, harvesting Deathbells and Nirnroots, crossed over to another little island and I get HIT with a huge dose of poison! The next minute I know I'm near death! I was attacked by a huge freakin' Chaurus Reaper! I hate these things! Now, I can't cross the marshes without constantly looking over my shoulder!

I was exploring some deep deep cavern in markarth, with all the dwarven stuff. I've been prepared for the shiny balls thanks to the loading screens and their handy info, but I wasnt expecting just how swift those things are or how stealthy.
But, easily beatable, and my charecter struts on with causal bravado, and turns the next corner confidently ready to smash more shiny things.
To come face to face with this massively tall, spindly creature, with red glowing eyes and slits for noses..

Somehow so far in the game I've never met these creatures and I've never seen them discussed allthough from looting their bodies I gather these are the falmer.

I'm still curious about that Place. Are you talking about Nchuand-Zel?

I'll never forget when i was just out exploring and found some kind of pit. I forget where it was but i said what the heck, and jumped in. It was my first time seeing Falmer and their pet bugs. That place was amazing and i died i few times and loved every minute of it. I had the lights off as it was late which made it really scary and fun. It was my first large dungeon in the game.

Yes, Bleak Falls Barrow. The Giant Spider scared the [censored] outta me, probably didn't help that I was intoxicated.

The first time I set foot in Blackreach I said to myself... "Oh, nothing good is waiting for me here".

Only once, when I was walking around the wilderness, felt a slight rumble. Turned around and had a dragon staring at me....

There have been moments that make me jump, like just yesterday I turned and a butterfly was right by my face and I jumped thinking it was a dragon xD, but I never been really scared that I recall.

YES - this game has genuinely scared me. NOT because of events or enemies within the world but with all the bugs this game has. Although I enjoy and love this game, i havent really played it as relaxed as i wanted to for fear or running into a game-breaking BUG/Glitch and not having sufficient saves to return back to..

I miss just playing relaxed and just go with the game - without ever looking at UESP or the wiki every so often just to make sure i dont do anything game-breaking.

inspite of that, still love the game!

wow.. u know how to read boy? try to see if there was a single mention of the game being unplayable. i apologize if my post was too hard for you to understand. i said FOR FEAR of running into game-breaking (maybe quest-breaking is more appropriate) bugs/glitches and no mention of UNPLAYABLE.

and fyi - i play on PS3 so get your ADD in order, and get some fresh air because you fail miserably if you're starting a console war out of thin air.

Hey, I got nothing against a PS3, but the point is Console versions are far more stable, and saying that the bugs in the game make it unplayable is completley foolish. Your failing to reason... WITH A GAME, I've found NO evidence of any game breaking instances in-game, so your complaint has no base.

The sheer amount of bugs and 'incompleteness' of this game scares me every time I think of it.

edit; and here I was thinking this post was original. Thats what i get for not bothering to read the other replies. :\

The bugs in this game don't scare me, even a quarter as much as the bugs in FO:NV do. At least in Skyrim you DON'T have to save before entering and exiting a building for fear of a crash. Or no corrupted save files on an xbox. FO:NV is a game that disserves bashing for the bugs, not Skyrim.

A crash is a crash, a bug is a bug.

But a crash isn't a crash when there aren't any crashes at all. (360) Had the game since it came out. The bugs in this game are insignificant, and can mostly be cured by reloading a save, what few time i HAD to do this.

Never scared. A good deal like what the others said above, but not scared. When I played Deadspace I got scared.

Dead Space was friggin creepy. I let out a lot of expletives playing that game but never in Skyrim.
