Has this game ever genuinely scared you?

I'm still curious about that Place. Are you talking about Nchuand-Zel?
Yes that's the place. I ambled in assuming it'd be full of orcs, as that name sounds kinda orcish to me. Oh I was so very wrong.

I'll never forget when i was just out exploring and found some kind of pit. I forget where it was but i said what the heck, and jumped in. It was my first time seeing Falmer and their pet bugs. That place was amazing and i died i few times and loved every minute of it. I had the lights off as it was late which made it really scary and fun. It was my first large dungeon in the game.
Ohh, is that at the mine somewhere near Markarth? I assumed that there would be nothing particularly nice at the bottom of that steep and seemingly inescapable pit so decided not to pop in and say hi to whatever was down there..

OK...this did a little bit: http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc398/buckomccane/Skyrim/BDD_01.jpg

The before part - the pic is the after part.

Dammit boy, those dragons were surely trying to make a spitroast of you!

I was around this cave with Lydia where we were told that the evil thing we were after was located, and I saw this rabbit emerge from the shadow and I soiled my drawers.

PS: I did not have the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, which was why I soiled my drawers.

I was just reminded of something that scares me: when I find high level potions in dungeons.

Dammit boy, those dragons were surely trying to make a spitroast of you!
I know, right? WTF? It's not like I steal their souls and use them for my amusemant. OK...I do. :D

After playing I don't know how many hours, and currently working on my third character at level 30+, I had never encountered Krosis ... until today.

And I quite literally just stumbled across him while on my way to a Dwemer ruin during one of the Thieves Guild quest. I got sidetracked when I saw a dragon burial marker in my map and headed towards it. I should have known better when I ended up fighting an unnamed regular "Dragon." I didn't give myself any time to recuperate the little health I had lost as I immediately marched towards the word wall in the distance. As soon as I approach it something pops out of a coffin and then the name "Krosis" pops up. I'm pretty sure I muttered an expletive or two right out loud, because I was completely unprepared to face him.

That was mostly just the surprise factor.

Falmer in general creep me out.

I also think the panting sound foxes make is creepy. I always end up looking around for wolves when I hear them, even though I'm used to the sound by now.

Not really. But in Morrowind, the background whispering in the tombs really creeped me out... :ooo:

But a crash isn't a crash when there aren't any crashes at all. (360) Had the game since it came out. The bugs in this game are insignificant, and can mostly be cured by reloading a save, what few time i HAD to do this.

Lol, have you even looked at the 'unofficial list of bugs' thread in PC hardware and software issues subforum?

LOL It looks like a Dwemer ruin, it sounds like a Dwemer ruin, it must be full of... Orcs? hahahaha =p
I don't recall a HUGE spindly creature though. Maybe your character is shorter than mine and the Falmer look taller to you?

@ the people who are hi-jacking this thread... this is NOT a bug discussion area. *rolls eyes*

I've only been scared if a bear suddenly jumps out on me out of nowhere. But never really sweaty-scared like that. After all, this is not Amnesia, I got all the weapons and magic I could use to defend myself. I don't think a game like Skyrim is made to scare people at all..

I don't know if "scared" is the word, but the first time I went up against a giant and had my [censored] handed to me was certainly a shock. I tend to avoid those guys now.

However, the first time I summoned a Dremora it freaked me out a little when they disappeared. Dremora make this sickening sound when they vanish and I had my back to him. I whipped around trying to figure out what the hell it was!

More like surprise fear when, without ANY notice, and Elder Dragon lands right besides my character in the mountains outside of Winterhold. And I guess you all know what a dragon landing feels like.

The smarts, I lack them. I allways assumed that maybe the scary dwarvish machines were simply myth and lore to make the game more exciting. And there was me thinking dwarves were all sweet and funny like that adorable little fella from LOTR.

Yes, I recall being scared several times when I go into buildings and clutter keeps shaking and banging on the walls, things flying across the room and hurting me.
And no, I'm not talking about Molag Bal's quest, just in general.

It was called the Sightless pit. Located west of the shrine of Azura.

I got scared last night when I was attacked by a Vigilant of Stendarr. He was fighting undead, so I thought I'd lend a hand since it looked like he was getting the short end so to speak. Well, he attacked me. Was I in beast form? No. Had I cavorted with Daedra? No. I'd killed some Daedra, but I don't know if that counts. Needless to say he ended up becoming the headless one. I found a book on him having something to do with "features of werewolves"...... did I smell like a wet dog?

Of course this game, Oblivion, Morrowind, etc.. has scared EVERYBODY way more than once for sure.

If your someone that claims it hasn't scared you at one time or another, then these are the ONLY 2 possibilities:

1 (most likely): Your not playing on a big enough screen with a correctly set up surround system turned up to a "theater" volume. (which you absolutely NEED to do to experience any movie or video game correctly.)

or

2: Your lying.

Never scared. Like other Posters said, Ive jumped a few times, especially when Jordis vanishes for a couple of game days and all of a sudden she's there when I turn around in a cave.

FYI, that is what "scared" is. You wouldn't "jump" if you didn't get "scared" for a split second. Maybe you weren't scared for a long time (which sounds like your definition of scared), but for a fraction of time, man, YOU got scared. Face the facts. No reason in being elusive with language here to try to rectify you didn't get scared. LOL, no reason to be embarrassed. If you jumped, flinched, or anything, THEN you were scared. = Simple.

Being "scared" is generally a state of fear that is prolonged or chronic whereas being "startled" is an instaneous reaction that fades quickly. Some people are scared of spiders, but they can also be startled by them.

The most scared I have ever been was when I was playing tag with one of the kids in solitude and he got really close to getting me, thank god for whirlwind sprint!

Yeah, I was walking from Riverwood to Whiterun, taking the scenic route (off the road) when BAM! I get eaten by a Sabre cat, I nearly pissed myself! lol
The same for me. I was harvesting flowers along the road near Whiterun. It was a very quiet, sunny day. Music was so relaxing, when suddenly a Sabre cat jumped on me. I screamed and jumped a few inches from my chair, lifting my hands. Very funny to remember it later but at this very moment it scared me.

In Morrowind, people and things never scared me (Ie gave me a fright) but falling asleep at my PC to be suddenly awakened by a thunderstorm did.
In recent years Skyrim has a few times. Mostly because there is a lot of flora for things to hide behind. I've jumped a few times when a sabre tooth leaped from the bushes (usually killing my horse in the proccess.)

I usually psychoticaly hack and slash anything in tombs that looks like it might get up and get you from behind. That particullarly disturbed me for some reason.

And looking at bodies lying on the road only to get planted with a one hit kill by a scavenger, with a very large two handed weapon, lurking in the undergrowth always gives me a start. I guess I'm a slow learner.

Beartraps snapping shut as you walk/sneak over them always makes me jump even though they are an absolute waste of time and space. (Silly, I know)
I wish they had a paralyze enchant on them or something. That would really make them more useful (to enemies) although I suppose the noise alerts everyone near by, making them of some value, on reflection.
