Have Beth forgot their "lore" book?

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 12:20 am

With the DLC adding some interesting things, vampire lords and such, I find myself wondering do Beth follow the lore they set out? Or have they brought so many new people in that they are just making generic fantasy stuff such as vampires turning into bats?

Vampire Lords, where did they come from.
Vampires transforming into bats, just no lol.
Others.

Have Beth lost their lore book?

I recall reading somewhere that none of the original Elder Scrolls lore team remains. If that's true, it explains a lot. Again, not sure though. I suppose I could check the credits for each game...

Vampire Lords may be the same thing as Ancient Vampires in Daggerfall, not that much of a strech.

I recall seeing an altar to Molag Bal in the trailer, and according to lore, HE created the Vampires of Tamriel by [censored] and murdering some maiden. I can't recall the name of the book.

Then I hope Beth tell us in the DLC, I can except that. However I just feel the vampire lord was made in the game jam and they made a DLC based on reaction, while forgetting the lore. I hope you are right.

what about the bats?

if bethesda want to add things and they do it well lorewise then why not?

only time will tell...

the volikar, or something like that, were vampires, already in TES lore, I can't remember all the stuff on them but here is a wiki page on it http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Volkihar_Clan

so there is some exisiting lore to back this DLC up.

The ingame book called http://www.imperial-library.info/content/immortal-blood says that there are many different vampires out there, so introducing vampire lords isn't going against the lore.

EDIT: Yaay, 200 posts. Now when do I get the star thingy? :P

Three minutes is supposed to explain everything! Including the meaning of our very lives. Don't say three minutes of a trailer means nothing, because it does.

I don't really see it as lore breaking.....I mean why can't there be different types of vampires. Maybe Molag Bal gave these vampires special powers or something. It could be explained in many different ways....
I will say I am a little disappointed it is about vampires =/

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Vampires_of_the_Iliac_Bay

immortal blood covers a small fraction of the different vampires we know about. if were to go by the book in the link then whos to say there is or isnt a strain of vampireism that can turn into vampire lords. or vampires having a connection with bats.

Very well, the vampire lord is being explained by lack of information. I can just about see that, Beths artistic view and all. However how are the bats explained? And if they can be, how about they are just a little bit too generic fantasy? I mean one of the very good points of TES is the unique lore and world. If it falls in line with movies and other generic fantasy games then the things that make TES great could be shallowed out for the next game.

I don't think Adepts get a star. Sorry, you need another 200 posts to become a Curate and get one. 30,000 posts and you can become an Archpatriarch. I don't think I've ever seen one though. Only a Patriarch(10,000 posts)

The book Frost Dragon linked to is from a game you could call "generic". The Elder Scrolls II Daggerfall. We will get the information when Dawnguard is finished and we play it.

They haven't forgotten anything, they just decided to change it. I for one love when what the inhabitants of Tamriel thought to be true turns out to be utterly wrong.
