So, what you are saying is you use a PC running Mac OS X with an emblem of an Apple on it somewhere. -- Not really that amazing really.

Who? Apple?

I'm pretty sure that it's just the name of the apple, not a registered trademark of a food company.

I have a PC running BSD Unix too, but it's not a Mac. It must all be in the logo.

Hopefully will have a home-built this summer. Unfortunately I do not know what to get, and what hardware works with other hardware. I made a thread once, then got rudely directed to the tech thread, and got intimidated by all the "E1900 6.4G"s and "Flux Capacitors" and "thingamabobs", so I just dropped it.

mine was put together by family friend/former co-church goer/friend. recommend this man, too, if you are looking for a PC or a laptop. monitor from thrift store. cost me 200 dollars, which is nice, less than store bought. monitor was something like 3-5 dollars.

no, i have not. replaced a CD drive once and hard disk thing couple of times, but that's about it.

Well, my gaming/encoding machine was a home-build. It works perfectly, actually, I just popped a new 2TB drive in there Tuesday. I do have 2 older rack-mountable servers near me, which I got for free through my school, so those I obviously didnt build myself. I have built about 6 modern gaming rigs, and sold those to some people. Plus, the first day of my A+ course last year, we had to take apart and build an older PC.

I think it's when your hard drive melts into a stream of molten liquids and then hardens in such a way that you get a band of former hard drive running from the side of the case to the bottom. :foodndrink:

Yeah, i built this PC myself. From scratch. You wouldn't beleive how difficult it is to solder the billion transistors of a processor together :P

It's a lot easier than one might think. There is only one rule, if you need to use force, it doesn't belong there.

Buying compatible parts is the more complicated part, but just start with the motherboard and buy stuff that is compatible with it. And when in doubt, make a thread in the internet :hehe: Seriously, both this and my previous systems original setup plan was improved by suggestions of the more knowledgable people of the internet :goodjob:
