How to get All the Gold Bars from Dead Money

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 12:17 am

I don't need 300,000+ caps so I didn't attempt one of the tricks to get all the gold bars but I did get 7 bars. Where is everyone cashing these things in? I have yet to see any vendor with 10,000 to pay you more than maybe once every few days in game time. At one of the casinos? Certainly not Novac's souvenir shop. Where guys? Thanks

Jesus on roller skates - I have no idea

Noone will EVER give you full value for those bars

The most money I see on Vendors is 1000

I think Crimson Caravan or Gun Runners carries a good amount. 8000 comes to mind but I'm not 100% sure.

Go to the Gun Runners, buy an Anti-Material Rifle and some ammo.. or whatever else you'd like to add to your arsenal. This will easily raise them up from their starting 8,000 caps maximum.

Use a Salesman Weekly magazine + Comprehension perk (if you don't already have a Barter of 100) to get your Barter as high as possible.. and sell one.

I got my Barter up to 100 and sold a gold bar for 9,500 caps. Only about 1,000 less than the item's value. You can purchase them back for about 11,000 caps.

Thanks, and once the ball is in motion I will go to the med clinic behind Crimson Caravan and buy an implant, sell a bar, buy another implant, etc. Because gun runners will only have maybe the initial amount to buy one bar and then not have the caps for days. What else would people be spending these on other than price implants? Certainly not the weaponry for sale, hidden in Freeside.

Lady Gibson used to have around 17.000 caps for me.
Haven't used her since my first playthrough though I have no idea if she still has that kinda amount after the patch.

Never seen her with that much but with what she charges for an old dog I wouldn't be surprise if she was holding that many caps.

I love this...

Why do they call you "Old Lady Gibson?"

Well, I'll give you a hint, they used to just call me "Gibson." I hope you can figure out the rest.

Whether it can be converted into caps or not is irrelevant, I really don't understand how you could just leave these never again retrievable items behind, I haven't used one but I would never leave them.

Hmm, I think I'm not going to take a single gold bar with me next time I complete it.
Honestly I really couldn't care less about them.
I don't care about having them on a table in my bunker and I don't have the heart to sell it to a filthy profligate either.
So they might as well just stay put in their grave for my next completion.

Maybe if there was an achievement attached with getting 20 out I would do it... if it was 25, I would do it... if it was all I would do it... what are you going to do with all that gold? Honestly? There is NO GAIN from getting them all other than a non-achievement hearsay accomplishment. This game is way too huge to do "everything" at every location. I love Fallout 3 and F:NV, but there are other games and I do other things in life like work and have a family. Are you such a completionist that you finish everything at every location?

I could have gone back and forth five times to the door and drop the gold right by the door where you leave to get all 35 or whatever it is but it isn't worth it to me. As I said, there isn't enough worthy stuff to buy in the game to take it all.

I got all 37, if there was an achievement for that, it'd be ridiculous.

also, try to sell it to the Gun runners, they usually get 7000+ caps when you buy some things from them.

There are the various holovendors in the Casino and the Villa....they've got 2500 pre-war money each, probably could sell two to each and get all thier pre-war bucks which you can sell for 10-12 caps each back in the Mojave. I considered doing it but decided I'd just covet the gold instead. Cashing in your chips nets a huge profit though as you get 1 pre-war money for 1 chip from the Cashier but they're worth 10 caps in the Mojave.

You make that sound like a bad thing.

Achievements by nature are often foolish and/or ridiculous.

Examples (just two)...

1. The achievement for "walking" a lot in Fallout New Vegas

2. Point Lookout DLC from Fallout 3.. "discovered all locations."

I sometimes go out of my way to get a foolish achievement but I am not going to go out of my way to get 37 gold bars I don't even need the caps for, for nothing.

On another note, I would put Dead Money down there with Pitt and O:A from Fallout 3 DLC. I am hoping the next ones are better like Point Lookout and Broken Steel. Even Mothership Zeta was better than Dead Money. That beeping collar may have added panic and rush to the game but it was pretty annoying.

I have to admit, by the time I got to the casino the use of the beeping collar started to wear quite thin.

I love opinions but you have to explain. Dead money was pretty dull. O:A and Pitt were pretty dull. I enjoyed Point Lookout and Broken Steel. Pick it apart man.

Actually, I am not saying achievements are stupid. I am saying "some" are ridiculous. They overall add value to the games, chasing them. Replay value. You know?

What is your opinion of Operation Anchorage?

Point Lookout?

I merged two similar topics about the Gold Bars in Dead Money, in case anyone is confused. :)

So... the general consensus is that everyone thought different things about all the DLCs for both 3 and NV so far, and as usual, everyones opinion is totally 100% correct and can't be argued with.

Sheesh. You know the moral lesson from Dead Money? Maybe Obsidian weren't actually talking about the Gold Bars.

Let it go....

There's your problem, you enjoyed bullet sponge DLC's with little to no decent story (part's of PL were just random [censored].)

O:A while extremely linear, had a better story than all of the DLC's (and the game itself IMO, but it still was'nt the best story made.)
Pitt was dull, I give you that, but to say Dead Money is similar to this because it's dull? (Which is your opinion, so here is mine.)

Dead Money has decent combat, a good story (Could have been better, but everything was written well.), it actually lasted more than one hour, and the feel was a bit different, but good. Maybe this is just you thinking it's dull, but honestly? BS and PL were among the boring DLC's of FO3. (and MZ is in the lead in both boring, horrible writing, horrible combat, horrible setting...)

You guys are making it far to difficult. Use this method, its very easy and I got it done first try. Thank Sasholon for the link.

Alright, so I have watched the video you linked - which btw, thanks very much.
However, with having placed all the explosives and C4, how did it all end up exploding on Elijah, considering the player did not use the detonator?
I also tried listening to just the audio to see if the turrets had gone off, but found nothing.

I followed the advice on that video, but I used a detonator, and I had 6 frag mines laid out. That way if he had gotten to the spot before I recovered from the forcefield, he would have stepped on the mines. Either way, BOOM!
