How to get All the Gold Bars from Dead Money

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:13 pm

*SPOILERS*

If at the end collect all of them, then drop all 35 of the gold bars so they are one object just pick them up holding the Left Bumper (or whatever you have used to pick stuff up), and carry the gold bars all the way to the exit where you proceed to end of the DLC press A so the Gold is in your inventory, when you come back to the Mojave leave them somewhere safe and bring them 3 or 4 at a time to where you want them to be stored or sold but there worth 10,000 caps each and are unique so I just use them as a decorative touch.

If you collect all 37 of them it's over 1200lbs. Drop all 37 of the gold bars so they are one object just pick them up holding the Left Bumper (or whatever you have used to pick stuff up), and carry the gold bars all the way to the exit where you proceed to end of the DLC press A so the Gold is in your inventory, when you come back to the Mojave leave them somewhere safe and bring them 3 or 4 at a time to where you want them to be stored or sold but there worth 10,000 caps each and are unique so I just use them as a decorative touch.

Somebody knows what they're talking about.

LOL

Here's a real method:

Drop them off in front of the forcefield Father Elijah walks through. Kill him from the opposite side of the room so you can be close to where you'll need to begin running to exit the vault. Once he's dead, run as fast as you can, jumping over anything in the way and down to lower sets of stairs and catwalks if possible. Once you get through the Maintenance Door, open the 1st door leading straight to the elevator (helps save time since it takes a couple seconds for it to open) as you move over to the forcefield you placed them in front of. Switch to 3rd person, put your character's side against the door looking downwards at the gold bars repeatedly tapping on A until you can pick them up (you'll need to do this QUICK). As soon as you pick them up, switch back to 1st person and move as fast as you can down the hall and through the last door to the elevator. You might want to drop all the gold (as one big 37 piece) a couple times, move past it, turn back, and pick it up again.. a couple times. It could save you some time. As you near the elevator you'll notice your collar sounds like a thermal detonator - run as quick as you can and repeatedly mash on A as you near the elevator so that you're through it as soon as virtually possible.

OK, so the gold (all 12K pounds) bounces like a rubber ball down to the lower vent pipes. I even did it crouched, same result. I think it's a lost cause.

Amazing that so many people have any interest in doing this.
You can't take them all for a reason.

Greed.

Why don't you learn a lesson instead of trying to figure out a way to exploit the system?

It's like some people think it's a bug or something that they weigh so much.
They don't even stop to think why.

Yes, we realize that you have to leave them. It's the interest in trying to find a work around. Oh collar beeping, better not run through it. Oh cloud, better not run through it. Oh gold to heavy, better not try and take it. If it wasn't for experimenting this whole DLC would be a bust. I would love to hear from anyone who has finished this on hardcoe that didn't take a chance for their character.

This is a game, trying to take the gold doesn't make us greedy. Besides, with as many glitches as this thing has - who knows - could happen. I don't play games to learn lessons in general, I play to experiment and have fun. Is it "a way to exploit the system" to take the holorifle to quarry junction? It make deathclaws similar to radroaches! One shot - maybe two if they see you.

I like to do things without using glitches so I had another idea... Instead of doing this why don't you just put all the gold bars right near the force field Father Elijah is behind, shoot the turrets, and then once hes dead run, grab the bars, and high tail it too the exit. This should only add a few seconds to the time it takes to escape... If your having trouble from the turrets damage why not kill all of them except for one and then move the bars? How long is the timer before your collar explodes anyway? I'm going to test new methods on the next character I send through there...

You've gotta be a few steps back from the forcefield or it will have no place to drop except to your side.. and fall down the abyss.

Its not 12k lbs.
That happens sometimes, but I got it through 2 times through the field. Maybe Obsidian somehow stealth patched it ?

because the force fields stay after his death, and running with the bars slows you down, and tring to get the bars from the other side in 3rd person for me was impossible.

I got lucky and found some turbo in the vault, then used it to slow verything and got past the field before it got up. Will use sashlons vid next, as it worked first try, turbo took a few tries.

I was sad when I saw the gold, I didn't even check the weight. My character was an unarmed tank of a beast with over 1,000,000 in caps. Money, of any kind was worthless for that character. I still took the gold bar by the computer for novelty sake. didn't catch the weight till later.

I just did it.
1. I set down C4 to kill the guy
2. picked up all the gold
3. talked to the guy
4. walked slowly over to the force field.
5. shot the turret (since I didnt have high enough skill to destroy the generator)
6. guy comes out and I get thrown inside (btw I never dropped the gold during all this)
7. blew up the C4 killing the guy
8. walked out with plenty of time.

Hope this helps slightly I used the youtube guide with a couple of tweeks since I didn't have skill high enough to destory the generator.

My character tried to roll around on the 37 gold bricks placed on the bed, but found it wasn't nearly as comfortable as rolling around in prewar money.... just got brusey.

I just did it 10 minutes ago they just went right through the portal, picked it up and went to the elevator and took them all back to the Mojave. So i got i think 370,000 out of this :celebration: :celebration: :celebration: :celebration: Also how i did it i won the speech thing and he came down to meet me so then i, got the portal and put bars right through portal and boom killed all turrets and him, then i ran passed the holograms then ran by where i put gold bars my collar was about to explode so i walked through the door slowly and right when i was at elevator i was back at the gate you came from. So im now super happy =)
