How do I get back into Skyrim...

Just wait some time. You'll either move on or you'll get that urge again.

You know what, now that you mention Baldur's Gate, I remember that I finally got all 5 discs back from my brother in law so I think that's what I will play to hold me over until DLC arrives.

That sounds like a ridiculously good idea :D.

I wish I had part 2, but the original will suffice.

I'd recommend not playing Skyrim for a good long while, keep playing Dragon Age, it's a very different style of game but I think it's a modern classic, come back to Skyrim in a few months feeling refreshed.

Or you could treat yourself to the PC version and get modding :)

Well as long as the other posts are more helpful than yours, they should help me make the decision. I am just looking for other peoples input. If you think I don't need it, don't give it.

Like I said, wasn't being mean. And I did give my opinion. Play the other games for a bit, then play Skyrim again. It's a stand alone game so you won't miss anything. Sorry if I offended.

BG 1 is so much fun. I had two excellent playthroughs, one as a magic-user/thief and one as a straight paladin. Magic-user/thief can go ditch the whole party and solo.

I wish! I would need to treat myself to the cash for a good PC first lol. That would be ideal, though.

May I recommend you gog.com, for 10 dollars you get BG2 + Throne of Bhaal. You will also find a forum with links to the great widescreen mod that makes this game even better. AND it is patched and ready to run ;).

I first played Skyrim when it came out. I played lots for the first month, but then I did not get much time to play it.

It has only been in the last two weeks that I have started playing it (It was when my soundtrack was delivered that made me want to play it again)

I then decided to start a new character and I am really enjoying playing it again.

I would like to play Mass Effect, but that will happen when I have got the time.

You're welcome. This is about the best website I found in the last few years . If you want it hardcoe, buy BG 1 + 2 and use a mod to combine them to one game (pm me if you have questions). You will also find many more classic gaming gems .

I agree with whoever said play another game now and come back to Skyrim when more patches and some DLC comes out. From the looks of that Game Jam video whatever DLC they come out with is gonna kick some booty!!

Last night, I got home from coaching my 9 year olds basketball team for practice, got all 3 of my daughters wound down (the wife works nights), put all of them to bed and decided to pop in a copy of Battlefield 3 that a friend at work let me borrow. I noticed that I was out of HDD space and couldn't install the HD graphics disc. There was no way I was going to play without it so I decided to clear some space via the option given to me. I said to myself, "Self, just delete the Skryim game install and you can always install it when you're done with BF3." In response, I said "Great I idea, self. Let's do this!" So I went to the Skryim Icon, pressed delete, and confirmed. Right then and there I realized something. I didn't expand the Skyrim selection and choose game install, numb nuts here just deleted the whole thing, including all game saves... So my question to everyone is this; what now? How do I prime myself to get back into this game. Should I get back into this game or play something else. I have Dragon Age: Origins and I am only about 10 hours in. Should I just play that? By the way, I was 120 hours in...

If you want to get back into skyrim then make a character thats diffrent from the one you were playing before. Don't fast travel (but use the cartage system. i just walked from whiterun to riftin in werewolf form and it took forever).

Like others have recommended I think you should play Dragon Age. You won't regret it. It's a great story. Then I would go for Baldur's Gate. I think I'll play BG one last time this spring then say goodbye to it. The world must go on. :-)

I highly recommend you get BG for PC so you can use the BG 2 engine from pocketplane.com, because BG 1 graphics looks terrible on todays monitors, and there are lots of great mods for it to improve the gaming experience. After that most of the bugs in Skyrim should be squished and some great mods available for it too. :-)

I have it for PC and will mod up before I turn it on. I played it YEARS ago when I first bought it, the only problem was that when I bought it, it was at a time when I went on an eBay buying spree and bought too many games to play lol. I mean I got Quest for Glory IV, Gabriel Knight, Rise of the Triad, Sim Tower, and the Starcraft Battlechest. So needless to say, I didn't get to play it too much lol. Now would be a good time to mod up and give it another shot.

As an xbox and PC player, I concur.

But, I can't agree that Beth has the right to deliver sub-par games just because he decides to play on a blu-ray player with gimmicks.

Edit: Can someone give me a brief explanation on what the joke with horse armours are? I see it posted everywhere but feel I am missing something.

The Horse Armor joke comes from the Oblivion Horse Armor DLC, in which you paid to download the DLC and then Horse Armor pretty much did nothing.

Well, since unless there is an awesome way i'm missing, your game saves are probraly lost for all, and since Dragon Age origins such a great, STABIL, fun and PLAYABLE game, yeah i would go with DO:Origins..

Haha, see what i did there beth?

Edit: Damn sorry, i tought i was in ps3 topic :(
But i will not delete it, right beth?
Loves from ps3 subforum <3

Yup, I see what you did there. Totally misspelled words and made it look even worse by highlighting and enlarging your mistakes. Way to go.

-----

As far as the OP goes - I did something very similar, so I feel your pain.

Personally, I made a couple attempts to get back into it, but after losing that much progress, I think it was best for me to just take a break. I'm a roleplayer, so I've been considering different character concepts I'd like to play, maybe you could take the time to do the same?

Easy one. Play Russian Roulette. If you survive you were meant to play Skyrim. If not then there's nothing to worry about.

First - go to your control panel and access your installed programs. Uninstall anything you don't use or need. Then reinstall Skyrim and search the mod sites for a premade character that is about as far along as you were. Or just create a new character and console command it up to speed.

I'd say play Dragon Age Origins now. It's a really awesome story-based game. Since Skyrim Creation Kit has been released, once you're done with Dragon Age, some neat Skyrim mods will probably be already out.

reading comprehension. lol. im only joking mate.

anyway, i'd suggest play dragon age, im not gonna big it up or anything [ive never played it] but something new might be good, then in time you'll get in the mood for skyrim again [being away from for an extended period of time does work] thats my suggestion, bad luck though about your saves, we all do stuff like that though, its too easy lol.

that reminds me...I still did not plan my BG2 walkthrough for this year...
This really is the one game I play once a year, since it came out. Best, game, ever.

Just turn on your 360, load up a new game, and leave your character idle in Skrim for 5 rl days.
