How do I get back into Skyrim...

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 8:34 am

Last night, I got home from coaching my 9 year olds basketball team for practice, got all 3 of my daughters wound down (the wife works nights), put all of them to bed and decided to pop in a copy of Battlefield 3 that a friend at work let me borrow. I noticed that I was out of HDD space on my 360 20GB and couldn't install the HD graphics disc. There was no way I was going to play without it so I decided to clear some space via the option given to me. I said to myself, "Self, just delete the Skryim game install and you can always install it when you're done with BF3." In response, I said "Great I idea, self. Let's do this!" So I went to the Skryim Icon, pressed delete, and confirmed. Right then and there I realized something. I didn't expand the Skyrim selection and choose game install, numb nuts here just deleted the whole thing, including all game saves... So my question to everyone is this; what now? How do I prime myself to get back into this game. Should I get back into this game or play something else. I have Dragon Age: Origins and I am only about 10 hours in. Should I just play that? By the way, I was 120 hours in...

I'd say play Dragon Age Origins now. It's a really awesome story-based game. Since Skyrim Creation Kit has been released, once you're done with Dragon Age, some neat Skyrim mods will probably be already out. :)

I'm trying not to sound mean, but how should we know? If you want to play other games, play them. Skyrim isn't going anywhere soon. It's single player, so you won't miss any big events. If you want advice, play the other games for a bit, then reinstall Skyrim with some mods and start with a fresh perspective.

Honestly, you either want to play the game or you don't. Nothing posted here will make that decision for you.

I don't understand what you are asking. I guess play a new character archtype, if you were melee Sword and board before play a thief archer. Personally I'd play DA if you were only 10 hours in, I enjoy certain party members in DA like DOG, Sten, and Morigan.

why dont you revert your computer to before you installed BF3? you'll have your saves back then.

360 :(

aaaah.....sorry to hear. best i can offer is to google search recovering deleted data, digital data is never really deleted and can always be recovered if you know how...(i dont mind you)

edit: alternatly you could simply start a new game when 1.4hits or if its hit consoles already you can simply start one now the upsides to this are alot of quest fixes where sent out aswell as the ashpile fix....try a necro or a archer/necro or something, and next time dont delete your saves :D

or....save your saves onto an External HDD, you can do that from xbox cant you? (i know you can form ps3..)

Well as long as the other posts are more helpful than yours, they should help me make the decision. I am just looking for other peoples input. If you think I don't need it, don't give it.

I did the same on my first ever character, deleted the save by accident when I was clearing out the other autosaves, lesson learnt, go a bit slower when doing things like that.

I'm afraid there is no saving yourself now though, unless you uploaded your skyrim save to the xbox cloud storage service.

Sorry to be the one to say that. :(

Just go play whatever you feel like. Sometime you will feel like playing Skyrim, and start a new guy. Give yourself time to heal /oprah

Also back up all your current saves to USB.

Oh I know I'm screwed. Tonight I will be hooking the HDD to my PC and running some data recovery software that I have to see how far I get. Although, I am not holding my hopes up as I know it's hit or miss.

Oh, no mods for you then :/ Still, you've already played Skyrim for a long time, if you don't feel like playing it again, take a break and play something else. Dragon Age is an excellent choice. If you still won't get the urge to play Skyrim, wait for the inevitable DLC-s :) .

:lmao: Yeah let's hope not! I think you may be right though, DLC will probably pique my interest enough to get me back in. In fact, that's my new plan. I'll wait until the first DLC gets released, and then I'll get back in.

Well, since unless there is an awesome way i'm missing, your game saves are probraly lost for all, and since Dragon Age origins such a great, STABIL, fun and PLAYABLE game, yeah i would go with DO:Origins..

Haha, see what i did there beth?

Edit: Damn sorry, i tought i was in ps3 topic :(
But i will not delete it, right beth?

Clearly a PS3 player, you buy an inferior console, you get an inferior game. It's simple logic.

Well yeah, it sold pretty well, people are still downloading it.
I don't see any major reason to not to make one.

As an xbox and PC player, I concur.

But, I can't agree that Beth has the right to deliver sub-par games just because he decides to play on a blu-ray player with gimmicks.

Edit: Can someone give me a brief explanation on what the joke with horse armours are? I see it posted everywhere but feel I am missing something.

Unfortunately you seem on the xbox. No mods, less replay value. I don't know how many characters you have. If you were still on your first one, starting another archtype should give you much incentive to play on. Otherwise take a break and go with DA:O. It is a really good game which I played thorugh twice. The characters are fleshed out and party interaction, while (of course) not as great as in BG2 is cool. You should need some time to play through DA:O, after that you will be ready for mor TES awesomeness :).

If the horse armor included a saddlebag, I'm down. (The mod for oblivion was invaluable)

You know what, now that you mention Baldur's Gate, I remember that I finally got all 5 discs back from my brother in law so I think that's what I will play to hold me over until DLC arrives.

If you haven't play DA:O through to the end, then that is DEFINITELY where you should focus you attention. Played that through no less than 15 times myself.
